My favourite song is definetly 'Princes of the Universe' that song never grows boring. May Freddie rest in peace.
I have only one Queen album, and that's greatest hits.

While looking at stuff about Queen, I noticed that they have given the new album a name, "The Cosmos Rocks", which is suppose to have a first for Queen, a cover song on an album. As of right now it's set to come out September 1st.

Old thread bump! ;D
So The Cosmos Rocks was released in UK yesterday, I believe. Anyone got it yet? I'm interested to know how Paul Rodgers fits in with the Queen sound in the stereo as opposed to live sets.
If anyone's wondering, the below video is a performance of the new single C*lebrity on the Al Murray show a fair few months back. Thanks to Chris the Xelent who originally linked me to it: Obviously not. Anyway, this is what I just posted on another forum with regards to my opinion of The Cosmos Rocks. I got it the week it was out, back in mid-September. Didn't hear of any promotion of it in AU, I knew it was out in the UK and decided to see if it was here. And it was. I was never not going to get it, QPR isn't Queen proper, but I'd been intensely curious as to how it would end up.
Agree with you on a lot of what you say kk. I like "Call Me" as a nice innocent pastiche-style of song in the vein of some of Queen's earlier stuff. However, there are a fair whack of songs that just leave me flat, bored or faintly irritated ("Isn't this finished yet?").
I reckon their cover of Rodgers' solo hit Warboys was one of the highlights of the album, along with C-Lebrity and Time To Shine. Sometimes Rodgers' vocals don't really seem to fit with the Queen style, but likewise there are some songs that I couldn't imagine Freddie's vocal style would fit. All up it's an OK album. By no means does it blow you away like many of their previous albums, but it's not the worst thing around either.
And yes, I would absolutely LOVE for them to tour down here and am somewhat pissed off that they don't have any dates for countries not in Europe as yet. One of my mates is going to a concert in November, will relay how he felt when I hear from him.

I came across an article about Queen in the latest issue of People magazine. In it, they talked about how Freddie Mercury would've wanted the rest of the group to keep performing after he had died. It also explained how Paul Rogers joined the group and that "The Cosmos Rocks" was dedicated to Freddie. I don't think I ever posted my favorite Queen songs. Anyway... We Will Rock You Bohemian Rhapsody Crazy Little Thing Called Love (particularly CtX's cover) Another One Bites the Dust We Are the Champions Bicycle Don't Stop Me Now Tie Your Mother Down (especially CtX's cover) No One But You (RIP Freddie Mercury ) I Want to Break Free God Save the Queen

I was in a newsagents yesterday looking for something to get Mum for Mothers Day, and happened to flick through an issue of Classic Rock Magazine where they were counting down the top 30 singers of all time. Truth be told I was getting a little antsy by the time I'd read through 30-6 and Freddie Mercury hadn't shown up. Don't know why... he was number 1 Paul Rodgers was number 2, so I was all in all quite happy with how the list turned out ;D

And another band that I'm late in commenting about! I won't deny it: Queen is probably one of the greatest rock bands of all time! Freddie Mercury in particular was a winner with his larger-than-life performance, extravagant costumes and incredible ability to enrapture his live audiences. In particular, the following songs have settled themselves in my heart: Bohemian Rhapsody Another One Bites The Dust Killer Queen Bicycle Race (Also Rated High For Thought-Provoking Word Play!) You're My Best Friend Don't Stop Me Now Crazy Little Thing Called Love We Will Rock You (Very High Rating Indeed!) A Kind Of Magic Radio Ga Ga I Want To Break Free Innuendo (Highly Rated For Lyrics & Dramatic Music!) Regarding the last ones you've covered Matthew24691, it really makes sense, even though I haven't heard all of them. I'm quite fond of Innuendo, partly because it speaks really of what Mercury sees in humans as being most recognisable: for instance, when he talks of "blind madness and pure greed", that creates a stunning imagery for the listener. Anyway, in total, a real breakthrough are Queen - I'm glad they kept going after Mercury's death: after all, they had their glory days in the 1970s but they will always be legends whatever they do. Warm Regards As Always, MRHloco

I've started listening to a lot of Queen lately starting with A Night at the Opera which is considered to be one of their bests. I have to admit, I'm ashamed at how much I missed all these years! I've listened to the album a couple of times and I am thoroughly impressed. All 12 songs on this album are amazing! I really liked "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon," "Love of My Life," and of course "Bohemian Rhapsody." One song in particular that I adored was "'39," one of Brian May's five songs on the album. I can't accurately describe why I love this song so much but I find myself listening to it all the time. Perhaps it's the 12 string-skiffle aura or the lyrics or the chords; whatever the reason, the song has vastly expanded my interest in the band and more recently Brian May himself. Good stuff, chaps. I shall definitely be listening to more of them in the future. I'm also tempted to invest in a replica of May's Red Special; I know our own ChrisTheXelent owns one. Richard

I thought this the best place to talk about this (as there isn't a thread of musicals), but I saw 'We Will Rock You' yesterday evening and it was awesome.
I'm not a fan of musicals, but a Rock 'n' Roll musical about Queen was great. The story was pretty decent, but I'd say in reality: 'You Can't Kill Rock 'n' Roll, Rock 'n' Roll will live on' (to quote Tenacious D the Metal). But everything about the show, made so much sense to today's music industry and all this 'crap' music going on from Teenage stars to programed manufactured music or Boy Bands and all that crap.
As I say, it was an awesome show and I'd recommend it to anyone Queen fan or Rockers overall because this is our show. Long live Queen, long live Rock n Roll.

Alright, time to bring this thread back to life.
As of now, they've released remastered, double disc versions of the first five albums. With bonus tracks! Haven't heard any of them (the bonus tracks), but according to Wikipedia, they're mainly demo recordings, alternate mixes, live versions and backing tracks.
As for my favourite Queen songs... 20: Sheer Heart Attack 19: I'm Going Slightly Mad 18: Good Company 17: Another One Bites the Dust 16: Seven Seas Of Rhye 15: Radio Ga Ga 14: Fat Bottomed Girls 13: Death On Two Legs (Dedicated to...) 12: We Will Rock You 11: Who Wants To Live Forever 10: One Vision 9: Brighton Rock 8: Crazy Little Thing Called Love 7: Headlong 6: Hammer To Fall 5: I Want It All 4: Keep Yourself Alive 3: Under Pressure 2: Bohemian Rhapsody and... 1: Innuendo
And yes, the other albums will get re-released as well (as double discs), but I'm not sure if they're re doing the "Flash Gordon" soundtrack as well.

Time I paid heed to 'The Champions' then - at the time of the last post I'd made here, I hadn't heard that song. Now that I have, I can safely say that I've rarely heard such a classic as that - it really speaks of the life and times of Freddie, not to mention of just how determined I think a lot of us on SiF are too! Another Queen song that I've picked up on since my last post is all to do with the 'Seven Seas Of Rhye'. Said to be inspired by Freddie's own childhood imagination, it really does sound like a song that, I feel, could, one day, be made the title song of a major motion picture, especially if set in a fictional world. I must admit, though, whenever I listen to it, my thoughts usually go out to the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, seeing as Rye is a population close to New Romney. And then there's the fact that, for me at any rate, the rhythm and melody do make me think of those incredible 15in gauge locomotives pounding across the Romney Marches at 25mph with wheels whirring and passengers thoroughly enjoying the trip!

Well, it's not long now until The Works, A Kind of Magic, The Miracle, Innuendo, and Made In Heaven get re-released, and one thing that is really bugging (besides the wait) is that Innuendo only 5 tracks on the bonus EP. 5! Works, Miracle and Heaven get 6 and Magic gets 7, but the most epic album of the lot only gets 5?! Why, Brian and Roger, why?

On the traditional subject of having Queen songs stuck in ones head, I can't seem to get the synth-bass riff from Staying Power out of my head at the moment. That does mean I've been able to learn to play the riff off by heart on my keyboard though, so it's not all that bad. Come to think of it, when was having a Queen song stuck in your head a bad thing, anyway!?
