The Show Must Go On is another one I'm definately using, WWRY and WATC would be too if they weren't on the radio every bloody minute. Days of Our Lives isn't one I'd go for; it's not a favorite. The rest I've have to look into again. It's been ages since I've heard any of them....

15 Queen songs, eh...? Gee, talk about making it hard... Now I'm Here is my favourite Queen song, bar none. Was It All Worth It (The Miracle) is a close second. I'm assuming the 5 you've already mentioned are definitely being on there... Great King Rat (Queen - the album, not the band) and Son And Daughter are both good songs from the formative years. The Hitman and Gimme the Prize are quality hard rock if you're into that sort of thing I like the disco/funk of Staying Power and Dancer from Hot Space It's Late (News of the World) is another favourite Anything from A Day At The Races is pure gold, although I'm not a huge fan of Somebody To Love... Driven By You's a pretty good BMay song, but Living On My Own's a quality Freddie solo as well (Hits III) I could go on like this for ages... Hopefully you've made some sense out of all that. *Hell, I could even email you some MP3's if you're that way inclined...

I was considering Now I'm Here and It's Late, actually. There in my "if-desperately-can't-pick-another-two-or-three-songs-to-save-my-life" category. The Hitman is already another definate, which leads me to believe that I should've mentioned all the songs I knew I was including...
I'm not a huge fan of GKR or S&D, so that knocks them off... I'm listening to a sample of WIAWI right now, and I like what I hear. Most of the rest I've heard one or twice, but I don't think I'd choose them.
Here's how it stands as of now:
Bohemian Rhapsody Don't Stop Me Now Hammer to Fall Somebody to Love The Show Must Go On The Hitman Breakthru Headlong One Vision Innuendo Was it all Worth It* Gimme the Prize* (if you can compare it to Hitman, it's gotta be good) It's Late* Now I'm Here*
Possibilities are marked with asterikeseses.
EDIT: Upon further thought, Breakthru, Headlong, and One Vision are also going on the disc too. 9 down, 6 to go...

And those 3 are 3 that I totally forgot about as well. The song that has sentimental value for me is 'White Man'. Besides that obvious story to the song about white settlers stuffing up a perfectly good indigenous peoples, I sung it at a school camp in Year 10, raising my popularity tenfold. As such, I get these warm, happy memories whenever I listen to it. And Freddie sings some strong stuff in there as well. If you're going for length, Liar, The Prophet's Song and Innuendo have to be on there as well. There's just so many permutations and great songs and stuff... Gee...I'd really struggle to choose only 15 Queen songs to take. 5 or 6 I'd definitely choose, but man it's a tough task. I'd have to think about this. I'll come back later and give you (all) my 15 and we can compare and all that.

INNUENDO! Of course! That's going on it too, no doubt. I looooovvve everything about that song (so don't bother asking how I forgot it).
And then there were 5.... this ain't gonna get much easier.
And speaking of Innuendo, the music video for it is just awesome... and creepy. I saw it last week on YouTube... best music vid I've ever seen, hands down.

Well, I spent 3 hours yesterday ripping every Queen song I have to MP3. 130 all up, and I'd guess about 40-odd that I don't have (Queen II, News of the World, Jazz, The Game - which I do have on Vinyl, Made In Heaven - Cassette, not CD). It's funny when you look at it that way - less than 200 songs and yet such a profound impact on popular culture. So that'll be 8.5 hours, give or take, that will be spent listening to some of the best music ever. Then there were 5...well, if you add the 4 maybes, that leaves only 1 left. Just choosing a random one now got Stone Cold Crazy. Whaddaya reckon to that one?

Stone Cold Crazy is awesome, I must say. I like it better than the 'maybes' that I've heard all the way through. So, I think I'll add it. So that leaves this as the certain list: Bohemian Rhapsody Don't Stop Me Now Hammer to Fall Somebody to Love The Show Must Go On The Hitman Breakthru Headlong One Vision Innuendo Stone Cold Crazy Anyway, about those MP3's... I'd like Was it All Worth It and Gimme the Prize, please, if ya don't mind.

Well then, the CD's been made; and it freaking rocks, o' course. Here's how it turned out... Bohemian Rhapsody Another One Bites the Dust Don't Stop Me Now Somebody to Love The Show Must Go On (and I wanted it to be last... grrr) Innuendo One Vision Hammer to Fall (should've said I wanted the "Queen Rocks" version... ah well) Headlong Breakthru I'm Going Slightly Mad Keep Yourself Alive Stone Cold Crazy The Hitman Scandal We Are the Champions Funny story behind why WATC is there... My dad said he could fit an extra two songs on the disc, so I asked for Now I'm Here and WATC. He couldn't fit both, so he naturally assumed I'd prefer WATC... heh... And hey, does anyone know if there's an extended version of Scandal? The one on my disc's 6:35 long and I know it's not the Scandal I'm familiar with.... beats the hell out of the shorter one though.

Hmm...I believe that's thr first I've heard of the extended Scandal. I would assume the single version is different to the version on the disc. That's what they did with The Invisible Man. Anyway, after a lot of deliberation, time and effort, I've come up with my top 30 as well: 30 | Ride The Wild Wind | 15 | Dancer | 29 | Tenement Funster | 14 | It's Late | 28 | The Millionaire Waltz | 13 | Rain Must Fall | 27 | I Was Born To Love You | 12 | The Hitman | 26 | You And I | 11 | Tie Your Mother Down | 25 | Keep Yourself Alive | 10 | Gimme The Prize | 24 | My Life Has Been Saved | 9 | Flick Of The Wrist | 23 | Son And Daughter | 8 | I Can't Live With You* | 22 | Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll | 7 | Seven Seas Of Rhye | 21 | Hang On In There | 6 | White Man | 20 | Sheer Heart Attack | 5 | One Vision | 19 | Action This Day | 4 | Headlong | 18 | Innuendo | 3 | Don't Stop Me Now | 17 | Radio Ga Ga | 2 | Was It All Worth It | 16 | Breakthru | 1 | Now I'm Here |
* The Queen Rocks Version, but the Innuendo version's pretty good too. Plus 5 that could have made it there: Staying Power You Take My Breath Away Tear It Up Princes Of The Universe Good Company And my 5 least favourites: Bijou Chinese Torture Jesus Dear Friends Cool Cat Geez that's a lot of typing.

Re Scandal, apparently you're right about something there. I looked on Queenwords, there's two Scandal links under The Miracle.
Interestin' list you've got there, by the way... I still need to hear a lot of those....
And I swear, you're the first guy I've known who doesn't like Bijou. I ain't heard it in ages, though...

I just don't think it's a very 'Queen' sounding song. Compared to the rest of the album, I reckon it's really quite rubbish. I'm going to try to order in News Of The World and Jazz (which I've heard...about 10 years ago ) later today. I do definitely remember Let Me Entertain You and If You Can't Beat Them being pretty cool songs. Watched a doco on Freddie's life last night - had it on tape. Pretty interesting stuff.

Speaking of Jazz, is there any info on what the blue hell Freddie's babbling about in Mustapha? Seriously. I can't listen to a song that isn't in English.

OK, now I'm going to do something that will be quite difficult for me to manage. You know how I mentioned last page how Queen consitently 'wows' you after you haven't heard their songs for a while? Well, from now until my birthday I will abstain from Queen and then listen to the whole back catalogue (of songs I have) in order. I won't come into this thread, no listening to Queen songs at all. Afterwards, I'll give my opinion on each album and revise my favourites. March is gonna be hell. Yeah...that sort of didn't end up happening. As for Mustapha, I reckon it was just random Arabic chanting that would make a great polyphonic ringtone. Very catachy, I must admit... I do prefer News Of The World to Jazz though.

From what I've heard from each, I prefer Jazz. Anyway, my cousin and me were at my grandmother's house the other day, and I'd brought the CD my dad burned for me so I wouldn't be entirely bored. He asked why I didn't just buy any real albums; I didn't have a good answer. He produced Greatest Hits I (minus Bo Rhap and plus Body Language, blech!) and Classic Queen and let me borrow them to upload the songs to my computer, so now I've pretty much doubled my library of Queen music. So now, without further ado, Halford's table with my list. ;D 30 | A Kind Of Magic | 15 | Keep Yourself Alive | 29 | Who Wants to Live Forever | 14 | Crazy Little Thing Called Love | 28 | I'm In Love With My Car | 13 | The Hitman | 27 | I'm Going Slightly Mad | 12 | Don't Stop Me Now | 26 | '39 | 11 | Headlong | 25 | Fat Bottomed Girls | 10 | One Vision | 24 | The Miracle | 9 | Tie Your Mother Down | 23 | Under Pressure | 8 | Sheer Heart Attack | 22 | Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy | 7 | Innuendo | 21 | Princes of the Universe | 6 | Tear It Up | 20 | Stone Cold Crazy | 5 | Was It All Worth It | 19 | Killer Queen | 4 | Scandal | 18 | I Want To Break Free | 3 | Somebody to Love | 17 | Bicycle Race | 2 | Hammer to Fall | 16 | Play The Game | 1 | I Want it All |
And that'll be enough table-making for this lifetime....

The Jazz singles are much better than the NotW ones, but the rest of Jazz is rather flat compared with the variety NotW has. But that's just me. Boo...no Now I'm Here Yeah, since I got NotW and Jazz, that table is hopelessly outdated and everything. Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll has certainly moved up in my list...Dancer and It's Late have probably dropped down a bit. That's always the way with me and music...make a list for 'all time' and then modify it a few weeks later. Man, Queen II is at the local library - on loan! Not due back till 11 July, at which point I'll borrow it and have listened to all Queen albums. Muwahahaha. ;D

Now I'm Here was there in the top 15, but I had to re-arrange that whole part of the list when I realized that I'd left out Innuendo and Tear It Up....
Hopefully it'll be a while before I have to make any big changes to my list... though my top 5 will probably fluctuate every so often...

Fair enough, fair enough. I reckon there's a few that will drop out of my top 30 to make room for Dead On Time, Fight From The Inside etc... While we're all making tables, I thought I'd post up the top 30 from a massive survey for MOJO magazine and their Queen special edition I got last year. Just because I can, you see. 30 | Hammer To Fall | 15 | Innuendo | 29 | Death On Two Legs (Dedicated To…) | 14 | Another One Bites The Dust | 28 | One Vision | 13 | These Are The Days Of Our Lives | 27 | Save Me | 12 | Killer Queen | 26 | A Kind Of Magic | 11 | Crazy Little Thing Called Love | 25 | Keep Yourself Alive | 10 | Tie Your Mother Down | 24 | The March Of The Black Queen | 9 | Radio Ga Ga | 23 | Seven Seas Of Rhye | 8 | Spread Your Wings | 22 | Brighton Rock | 7 | We Will Rock You | 21 | Now I'm Here | 6 | The Show Must Go On | 20 | It's A Hard Life | 5 | Don't Stop Me Now | 19 | Bicycle Race | 4 | Somebody To Love | 18 | Who Wants To Live Forever | 3 | I Want To Break Free | 17 | Under Pressure | 2 | We Are The Champions | 16 | Fat Bottomed Girls | 1 | ? |
Go on, you'll never guess what number 1 is. I'll give you a hint - it isn't Body Language...unfortunately. I reckon that's a pretty cool song myself... The honourable mentions were: I Want It All The Miracle The Prophet's Song Love Of My Life Stone Cold Crazy And the 5 worst were: Jesus Cool Cat My Baby Does Me Delilah Body Language Annoying dominated by singles, I reckon. There are a lot of brilliant songs that get ignored for the more media and public friendly sones such as Another One Bites The Dust etc...
