I'm surprised that there wasn't more discussion about this particular event. Today is the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' Ed Sullivan appearance, one of the most important moments in all of rock history. 50 years on, their fanbase is strong and I'm glad to see that we still have 2 of the legends alive and kicking, especially Ringo to say the least. What does everyone else think of this wonderful event?

The only Beatles compilations better than that one [1] is 1962-1966 (the Red Album) and 1967-1970 (the Blue Album).
Even though I'm more of a hard rock fan, The Beatles are and always will be my favorite artists ever.

I must say, the Beatles is a great rock group and one of the best bands of all time. I know Marmalade (Junior Campbell's Band) did a spin on "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da".

I might be alone on this, but has anyone ever considered making a mixtape or two on what Beatles albums would've happened if John, Paul, George, and Ringo restrained their egos and continued following Let It Be? Outside of SiF, there's a number of people who have also thought the same. For example, there's Stephen Baxter's short story The Twelfth Album about a Beatles album titled God, Mark Feldman's Fixing a Hole albums on Popdose, Allyn Gibson's Hot as Sun mixtape, the list goes on.
I've felt like having a crack at this to see what I could come up. Of course, I've gone beyond 1970 and have taken it all the way into 2011 and complied at least 20 - yes, 20 - albums the might've been Beatles would've recorded had they stayed together. I named it Cold Turkey based on an assumption that, had the Beatles recorded said song for a single, they'd have stayed together beyond 1970. It's also a reality where after John's brutal murder in 1980, his son Julian replaced him in the group so some disbelief will have to be suspended.
Here's five faux post-1970 albums I've come up with, as well as singles for each album:
IMAGINE (May 1971) Side A 1. Imagine (John) 2. Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll) (George) 3. Dear Boy (Paul) 4. Crippled Inside (John) 5. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey (Paul) 6. It's So Hard (John) 7. It Don't Come Easy (Ringo)
Side B 1. Ram On (Paul) 2. Apple Scruffs (George) 3. Oh My Love (John) 4. Heart of the Country (Paul) 5. What is Life (George) 6. Jealous Guy (UK) / How? (US) (John) 7. The Back Seat of My Car (Paul)
Singles: Imagine/Monkberry Moon Delight (Paul) (June 1971; #1) Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey & Jealous Guy (October 1971, double A-side and US-exclusive single; #1)
PHOTOGRAPH (September 1973) Side A 1. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) (George) 2. Mind Games (John) 3. Big Barn Bed (Paul) 4. One Day (at a Time) (John) 5. Living in the Material World (George) 6. Six O'Clock (Ringo)
Side B 1. Bring on the Lucie (Freda Peeple) (John) 2. Photograph (Ringo) 3. My Love (Paul) 4. Don't Let Me Wait Too Long (George) 5. Little Lamb Dragonfly (Paul) 6. I'm the Greatest (Ringo)
Singles: My Love/Try Some Buy Some (George) (February 1973; #1) Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)/Out the Blue (John) (May 1973; #1) Photograph/Let Me Roll It (Paul) (October 1973; #1)
THE BEATLES II (October 1980) Side A 1. (Just Like) Starting Over (John) 2. Blow Away (George) 3. Temporary Secretary (Paul) 4. Wrack My Brain (Ringo) 5. I'm Losing You (John; Anthology version) 6. Waterfalls (Paul)
Side B 1. Here Comes the Moon (George) 2. Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) (John) 3. Coming Up (Paul) 4. Watching the Wheels (John) 5. One of These Days (Paul) 6. Woman (John)
Singles: Blow Away & (Just Like) Starting Over (June 1980, double A-side; #1) Coming Up/Cleanup Time (John) (September 1980; #1) Woman/Attention (Ringo) (January 1981; #1)
TUG OF PEACE (July 1983) Side A 1. Tug of War (Paul) 2. Take It Away (Paul) 3. Valotte (Julian) 4. Wake Up My Love (George) 5. O.K. for You (Julian) 6. Private Property (Ringo)
Side B 1. Say You're Wrong (Julian) 2. The Other Me (Paul) 3. That's the Way It Goes (George) 4. Through Our Love (Paul) 5. Jesse (Julian) 6. Pipes of Peace (Paul) 7. Too Late for Goodbyes (Julian)
Singles: Take It Away/Unknown Delight (George) (June 1983; #7) Pipes of Peace/On the Phone (Julian) (December 1983; #1) Valotte/Ballroom Dancing (Paul) (March 1984; #1 - managed to sneak into that spot for a week in the midst of MJ domination)
FAB (May 1989) Side A 1. When We Was Fab (George) 2. My Brave Face (Paul) 3. You're the One (Julian) 4. In My Car (Ringo) 5. That's What It Takes (George) 6. This One (Paul)
Side B 1. Sunday Morning (Julian) 2. Figure of Eight (Paul) 3. This is Love (George) 4. Second Time (Julian) 5. You Want Her Too (Paul w/ Elvis Costello) 6. Mother Mary (Julian) 7. Put It There (Paul)
Singles: When We Was Fab & My Brave Face (May 1989, double A-side; #1) You're the One/Distractions (Paul) (July 1989; #1) This One/Open Your Eyes (Julian) (October 1989; #6) This is Love/We Got Married (Paul) (January 1990; #18) In My Car/Back on My Feet (Paul) (May 1990; #30)
And for the heck of it, here's some non-album singles:
My Sweet Lord (George)/God (John) (November 1970) Another Day (Paul)/If Not For You (George) (February 1971) Bangla Desh (George) & Power to the People (John) (July 1971) Live and Let Die (Paul)/Oh My My (Ringo) (June 1973) All Those Years Ago (George)/Here Today (Paul) (May 1981) Ebony and Ivory (Paul w/ Stevie Wonder)/Flying Hour (George) (April 1982) Say Say Say/The Man (both Paul w/ Michael Jackson) (September 1983) Got My Mind Set on You (George)/Once Upon a Long Ago (Paul) (June 1987)

Been a Beatles nut since I was 10. Since then I've become such a nut about The Beatles since then, collecting CDs, Vinyls, VHS, DVDS, and PLENTY of bootlegs. I mean you can't go wrong with The Beatles.
Also who else is excited about "Get Back" this year?

I just wanted to humble-brag to everyone that 2 nights ago, I saw Ringo Starr & the All Starr Band live! It was at the Greek Theater here in Los Angeles, and I was lucky enough to snag a ticket in the 5th row! It was quite expensive (especially for me), but he's 82 years old, so I decided to splurge. Who knows how long he'll keep touring, and the theater happens to be walking distance from where I live, as an added bonus lol.
The concert was fab! People were throwing peace signs everywhere, and Ringo is such a funny guy! Very energetic for someone his age, too. Also, I can't be sure, but I'm pretty sure we locked eyes a couple of times, and he smiled and threw me a peace sign. Keep in mind, he did that for a lot of people sitting in the pit section, so it wasn't like I was special or anything lol. Still felt great.
My only regret was that a couple of people had brought signs, and it didn't even occur to me to do that. Only once I was there, I realized I should've made a sign that said "I LOVE U MR. CONDUCTOR!" I'd like to think he would've gotten a chuckle out of that.
Anyway, if anyone has a chance, go see him while you can (and Paul as well, who's next on my list). We only have so much longer with the 2 remaining Beatles, legends forever!
