OK well here is my history of me with The Beatles:
I remember when I was a child that the drummer of the Fab Four, Ringo Starr was the narrator of
Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. I remember buying my first video which was '
Troublesome Trucks' with his narration. I knew about their music when my Dad have got '
1' for Christmas and the song that I only knew was 'Yellow Submarine' (A fine classic hit). I remember learning about it in primary school back in year 2. But I really didn't get into the band until by 2006 when I was 15 when I listened to 'All You Need Is Love' a damn good song that is.
I then bought my first Beatles album, '
Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band'. I first saw the trailer for 'Yellow Submarine' the 1968 verison on the internet and I so want to see it. I even have the
LOVE album. In '07, I bought the '
Blue Album: 1967 - 70' in February. Then after Christmas I bought another one which is one of my most favorites, '
Abbey Road' which features many hits like Octopus' Garden, Come Together, Maxwell Silver Hammer and more.
Then I decidied to listen to the solo years. I knew about Ringo's songs when I was young, but I got into his other songs like Photograph, It Don't Come Easy, Back off Boogaloo etc. I even bought his album '
Photograph: The Very Best Of Ringo' CD/DVD. The following year I bought his album '
Liverpool 8' and it was a great album. John Lennon, George Harrison and Paul McCartney's solo's were great too. My faves by them are '
Imagine', '
All Those Years Ago' and '
Band on The Run'. But in my personal opinions, the most emotional song by Ringo Starr is '
Never Without You' from Ringorama in 2003 which was a tribute to George Harrison who died from cancer in 2001. I even got the '
Concert For Bangladesh' DVD for Christmas in 2007 with George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
Back to the Beatles, I got the movie '
HELP!' on DVD which was remastered in 2007 and later the following year, when I heard from my mum when I was coming home from school, she told that The Beatles will have their own video game from Rockband. I was so excited, I've been following updates on the game and thankfully the day after its release I bought
The Beatles: Rockband for my Nintendo Wii and I spent hours playing it that wonderful Thursday night. I was good at the singing but terrible at the drums and guitars, but in the following day, I got use to it.
As part of a graduation present, I bought the 2009 remaster of '
Abbey Road' I loved the album and the special DVD that came along with it. I then got '
Rubber Soul' from by older brother for Christmas and also Paul McCartney's '
Good Evening New York' CD/DVD from my second oldest sister. My older brother even gave me The Simpsons DVD set of Season 2 back in '06 for Christmas, because it got the episode '
Brush With Greatness' with Ringo Starr.
I even bought the 2009
Children In Need CD from Amazon UK because of Ringo doing Thomas' singing. So yes, The Beatles have been a great interest in my life and they are the no.1 influence to me towards music. I'm still planning to be a drummer myself and it's all thanks to Ringo Starr.
