My box set arrived today. It contains all the classic 10 minute episodes, although not unfortunately the special, Snow Business. Not much in the way of extras, unfortunately. Safe With Sam is not included. Thanks for that Info Chris, I'm certainly very glad I didn't sell my copy of Snow Business now, but i agree it's a bit unusual that it hasn't been included on the set, not even as a Bonus Disc, but for anyone who hasn't got the DVD it can be picked up quite cheaply, I got it from my local Woolworths for £4.99 and I'm sure it will probably be cheaper on-line.

Yeah, I'll definately be looking to complete my supposedly "Complete Collection" by getting the Snow Business DVD. It's one of my favourite episodes.
Now, I'm going to have correct myself here. On further examination, Safe with Sam is in the boxset, on the second disc. I watched it this morning and compared to some episodes of the new series, it's a lot better than I remembered. There's even a few nice music pieces heard that I don't think were played anywhere else in the series.

I ordered my box-set last week from Amazon and all being well it should arrive any day now.
I used to have the video release of "Snow Business" but got rid of it about 10-11 years back. Does the DVD contain the same content as on this video or does it have a different set of eps?

If I remember rightly, all the DVD has is Snow Business, Safe With Sam and Rich & Famous.

So a completely different content to the tape version then.

So a completely different content to the tape version then. Yes, the original video contained the episodes 'Snow Bussiness' 'Wishing Well' & 'Sam the Great Inventor'

Hiya. Yes I do remember the content of that tape.
One final question, can anybody remember which episode involved Norman getting caught in some railings? I have a vague memory of this scene but can't think which episode it was from.

I believe that's Norman's Tricky Day.

My DVD box-set arrived today. I'm looking forward to watchng it later on.
Another point to make, Snow Business isn't the only episode not to be included. There is also one called Halloween which has been missed off. Isn't this the episode which has only been released on video?

First of all, I've found two episodes on youtube: 'Lost in the Fog' and 'Halloween'. Many thanks Chris for downloading 'em. Brought back many memories.
Anyway, whilst on youtube, I saw one of the newer Fireman Sam episodes 'Livewire'. I can agree with Dan (OSW) on this. Even though it isn't quite as good as the original series, it has its good moments. At least it still has bits and pieces of its original music, unlike Thomas. In spite of all the mistakes (Elvis being sillier than usual, Norman taking up most of the spotlight), I suppose it could be a lot worse.

Well, I've seen a few of the newer Fireman Sam episodes myself, and I agree that they are alright in HIT's way but they'll never be a patch as the classic series.
That said, actually, I've wondered if anyone has thought of writing a few letters to HIT about the newer seires? I mean, we've all sent dozens of letters to them about Thomas since Series 8, with a few pleasing results as shown in Series 10, so maybe a few of us ought to try it again, this time with Fireman Sam.
*shrugs* Worth a shot, anyway, I s'pose.

Hmmm... good point, Christopher. Then again, they haven't attempted another series. Doesn't mean they won't, but still...
Could someone put up 'Snow Business' on Youtube please. They've got one there, but it's in a weird language.

I believe that's Norman's Tricky Day. What exactly happens in 'Norman's Tricky Day' anyway? I haven't seen that ep for years. Stuart

Norman plays tricks on the Pontypandy residents by putting boot polish in a container which Sam uses to clean 'Jupiter', He reports a fire a Bella's Cafe whcih is a false alarm and sneaks in the Fire Station puts grease the pole. Norman gets his comupance by getting his head trapped through park railings and his grease is used to get him out
Hope this is of any help to you Stuart?
