I must say I like the classic Fireman Sam, but seeing the new series is just unbearable. It's given the deadly Bob the Builder touch, and the new models look stupid. Not only this, but the show has also seemed to have been dumbed down for the thick infants of today.

My favourite episode of the original series was the one where Station Officer Steele sends a golf ball through the window of Trevor Evan's potting shed. The golf ball knocked over the little camping stove and the whole shed went up in flames.

I've found the box art for the Classic Fireman Sam DVD set. Despite supposedly being Series 1-4, as you can see it only mentions 32 episodes, so looks like the newer episodes aren't being included

Also if you look closely at the side of the DVD set, you can see the cases have such names as 'Norman's Tricky Day' & 'A Spot of Bother' which were originally VHS Releases, I hope this just won't be old VHS Releases released on DVD.

I think it means the 32 episodes from the first three series (15 in the 1st series, 9 in the 2nd series and only 8 in the 3rd series - not having the "Safe with Sam" special). Speaking of which - when the BBC originally released Fireman Sam on VHS video between 1988 and 1991 (the first two series), why did it clearly say that it was made in 1985 when it was actually 1987? It's like Postman Pat being said to have been made in 1986 when it was actually already first broadcast in 1981.

I would imagine the Postman Pat videos were released very early on- considering the fact that they had the original BBC logo on them.
Can anybody help me out with something which I really cannot get? In the episode Wishing Well, how is it Sam and Elvis end up with Steele's meddle in the first place? I've never been able to work this out.

It got sent to the Fire station by mistake instead of the town hall at Newtown. Sam and Elvis go to take it back, and you probably know the rest from there

It used to be up on the Classic Kids TV site, but seems to have been taken down. I still have a copy that I can email to anyone that wants it. PM me if you're interested.
On a related note, HMV apparently posted my copy of the boxset today. I'm looking forward to viewing it. There's this one episode called "Halloween" that I can never recall seeing and it's hardly ever repeated, so I'll be watching that first.

Will the DVDs be available in the shops or only online?

They'll be in the likes of HMV, I'd have thought.

Does anyone know if another Fireman Sam series will be made? The last series wasn't too bad but nowhere as good as the original. I do miss John Alderton though.

I wouldn't be suprised if they do make another one. How long is the gap between new series of Thomas?

Another Fireman Sam "series" was made. Google up "Arson Sam". There were five eps made apparently. Mucha hilaria.

Naughty Norman's UFO hoax has gone awry after he stumbles into a swampSomebody who's seen the episode might be able to give you more info.

Does anyone have a list of what episodes are on which disc and do they have any special features or contain the episode 'Safe with Sam'?

My box set arrived today. It contains all the classic 10 minute episodes, although not unfortunately the special, Snow Business. Fair enough, that did get a cheap standalone release just before last Christmas, but I think it was a bit stingy not to throw it in.
Not much in the way of extras, unfortunately. Safe With Sam is not included. There are subtitles and a web link to the official site. There are photo galleries, but these basically look like screencaps from the actual episodes, so don't go expecting any deleted scenes.
