Hmm....it seems some of three minute theme permeated into the new theme "So move aside make way, Fireman Sam!"
I must say that I prefer the old series, the new one isn't my cup of tea.

Does anyone know if another series of the new Fireman Sam is being made? I doubt HIT would buy a show and just make one series; without sounding harsh, they'd most likely try and milk as much money from the show as possible. Oddly enough, I just came across something on Wiki saying about a new character called 'Peter Sam' who looks after some farm animals and owns a tractor called Terence. Obviously a Thomas fan, although I've removed the material; just thought I'd give you all a laugh

That extended version of the original theme was fantastic! Love the guitar solo Thanks for the link, OJ. Does anyone know if another series of the new Fireman Sam is being made? Nothing confirmed yet, but chances are they will make another series. I believe this new series was fairly well recieved by the young 'uns. The next series will probably be out late 2006/ early 2007. Being stop-motion animation, it'll take longer than a series of Thomas would.

I love this series-in fact its the next best kid's show to Thomas. My favourite episodes are:
Wishing Well-A really brilliantly done episode and the one that sticks out in my mind the most
Home From Rome-The subject interested me and also it was strange to see Dylis and Norman on holiday
Sam The Great Inventor-An absolutely classic episode. Such a shame that MOP The Dustbin didn't appear again.
Sam's Day Off-I thought it was really funny when Sam had a day off, he ended up needing the fire brigade himself.
For anyone who doesn't know, CBeebies are rerunning the older episodes at the moment.

Boy, I remember this show vividly. I used to own just one episode - Kite, and that was on a children's charity video that including the Postman Pat, Paddington Bear, Superted and... of all TV shows, Spot (!). And when I was at my (now passed on, sadly) Nanna and Grandpa's house, I used to watch my favourite episode - Camping, which I haven't seen since Thursday 5th November 1998! Oh, and John Alderton was a legend as well. P.S. This is my 150th post! YAY!!!

Gods I remember this. I definately prefer the old series (from when I was a kit, aye!).
But...I am very, very tempted to put up the five set parody that is known as "Arson Sam". Alas, it's 18+...so Mods, Staff...any advice as to if I should link to 'em..?

You COULD put them up here, but then you'll need to advise it's rating. If you ask me, it isn't R18+, but rather MA15+ (I'm using Australian ratings! ). I put up the first 4 in the 'Funniest Things' thread about 6 months ago, and soon there was this response... I personally enjoy it, and I've even recorded them via Audacity and reversed them, just so I could interpret it. Anyways, if you want to set up links here, then I say go ahead! Just make sure you add a parental rating. Of course, you could also seek a second opinion... Glad I could help, Banty'o'Fox!

I read yesterday on Wikipedia that in one episode created primarily for education purposes, Norman ends up setting fire to the cafe and almost killing off half the cast. Can anyone verify?

Certainly sounds plausible. Back then, they'd have educational videos made with all sorts of children's characters. I remember watching one in school featuring Superted teaching the Green Cross Code. So it only makes sense to make a Fireman Sam video teaching about fire safety.

I don't think the cast died. I think Norman got an ASBO. I haven't seeh this I've just read about it.

The Wikipedia entry says 'endangering the lives of the cast'. That certainly sounds like something they'd do to convey the dangers of playing with fire. There's no question the cast survived-they want to educate kids, not mortify them. And unless this is some new series thing I haven't heard about, I very much doubt Norman got an ASBO. As far as I'm aware, they didn't exist back then (and considering where I live, I'd probably have heard about them if they had).

My 2p on the subject: I can remember there being an episode called "Safety with Sam" or something along the lines. Perhaps that's what the whole 'Norman endangers the cast' episode is called! I've always wanted to see this episode when I first read it on Wikipedia.

Haha...I feel so superior that I've got the video ;D. It's basically telling the rights and wrongs of safety, as the title suggests. Mainly fire related ones, would yer believe? There is some kind of story around it though, there is a fireworks display and Norman happens to mess around with the fireworks and a sparkler. Can't remember what he exactly did, but I defo' remember fireworks and sparkler. Pretty good it was. For the record, I got it with a PC game for Xmas many years ago (as in the video came in the box, not seperatly). Hope it helps somehow.

You lucky sod! I could vaguely remember a fireworks episode that I watched on BBC2 when I was young, and yet I didn't realise that the episode was called "Safety With Sam". Which reminds me, I've been thinking of doing a redub with a particular Fireman Sam episode, as I can do a cracking good impression of Dilys Price. How about it?

The DVD 'Snow Business' has an episode called Safe With Sam, don't know wheter it's the same episode, but it does say it contains 'Classic Original Stories' so you never know. I've provided a link to the only on-line shop i can seem to find the Disc at, it's quite cheap as well, £3.97, i ought to buy this... www.woolworths.co.uk/ww_p2/product/index.jhtml?pid=50788385

Ah, fantastic little series this (the original, anyway). What better thing for a kid to be raised on than this, Postman Pat and, of course, Thomas? My favourite episodes are: Spot of Bother: Just got lots of memorable scenes in it, really. I liked the bit where Trevor split his trousers! Bentley the Robot: Another episodes that stick in my memory from when I was young. The fire was quite a scarey one. Norman was in real danger here, unlike most of the laughable situations in the new series. I thought Bentley was a cool character too. Pity we didn't see more him in later episodes Lost in the Fog: I remember finding this one quite scarey, when I was younger. I still think the rescue scene is one of the most powerful in the series. The music is great for that scene. Oh, and Trevor Evans' theme tune. 'Nuff said All three are great series run by the same company.

All three are great series run by the same company. Not quite. Thomas and Fireman Sam are owned by HIT, while Postman Pat is owned by Entertainment Rights. On a related note, I've noticed the complete Fireman Sam boxset has been put back to April 16th. I'm really hoping it doesn't get cancelled like the one they were planning for Postman Pat.

I do find the strangest coinsidence that Thomas and Sam are shows made by the same company. It's so strange I sometimes feel like shuddering:oI don't really like to talk about it.But I must say, they all are equally as good. And sorry for the mistake. The animation in PP made me think it was a HIT show since some of the shows they own tend to use models and sets.
