I remember I used to like Digimon and Pokemon a lot. However, I'm more into Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece, Panty and Stocking, and Cowboy Bebop. Also, I'm getting into High School DxD. Jamie Marchi really has a flair for playing sexy characters. Actually, she's rather sexy herself.

FMA FTW... but its Attack on Titan time. Spoiler tags! Oh this is getting good! Historia kicked some butt which was really surprising. The whole becoming a god ploline is spooky and I think the panel of Rod's transformation into a colossal colossal Titan was one of the most coolest images ever in the manga, just a big skull hanging upside down through the ceiling staring down the Survey Corps. Eren finally got an upgrade to his Titan form. He ate a glass bottle to transform, ouch that is hard core. Will he actually win a fight?

Anyone here heard or seen "Girls und Panzer" yet? Its freaking awesome: Tournament Anime meets Schoolgirl Anime meets historical Tanks! It's a combo that's so crazy it's brilliant! You can watch it on Hulu (sub) Here or Crunchyroll (dub) HereThe TVtropes page is HereThe main focus of the show is a tank-combat-as-martial-art (shensa-do, panzerfahren or tankery) school tournament, featuring real tanks from WW2. Schoolgirl anime silliness and cheesecake is kept to a minimum, so prolly skip episodes 1 and 7 in their entirety if that's not your thing. What's cool I noticed about the show while watching it was the tank team's similarity to SiF. I'm serious: they go on about tanks the way we go on about trains! It was kinda cool! Love to hear what other folks think!

Attack on Titan is one anime I would really love to get into, along with Rurouni Kenshin and Kenichi because the stories and characters are so complex and well-written.

I never did complete how I felt about Clannad did I? Oh well, here I go! This Anime is the pinnacle of all Drama-themed anime's in my opinion, it's highly regarded as well by fans as the best out of: Air, Clannad, and Kanon which are all part of Kyoto's dark themed anime trio. It's a very dark one one, with lots of backstory and overall a strong anime, the English dub in my opinion perfectly compliments the shows dramatic aspects, with Tomoyo Okazaki (the main character) having the perfect cynical voice which matches his character. On the topic of characters, the few problems here are the fact that there are two Tomoyo's, one male, one female. To distinct them, male Tomoya is dominant, and is a senior in High School, while the other is only. Second year. Overall this is a great anime, and well worth watching is you have TONS of time. However, have a tissue box close by, this ones very potent. The only reasons you would not watch this over Kanon: 2006, is because with Clannad, the pace is overall slow, and is quite heart aching. If you don't want to feel like life's a jive like I did temporarily, watch Kanon is you want to watch only 24 episodes as opposed to Clannad, which has two seasons. Kanon is only favorable due to its quick/better pacing. Overall Clannad gets 9/10, it's only it's oppressing sadness that holds it back, seriously, the music hurts

I've never really watched any anime, but I like what I've seen so far.
I've watched a couple of episodes each of Cowboy Bebop, Thunderbirds 2086 and one of the versions of Space Pirate Captain Harlock. I've also watched My Neighbour Totoro (Disney English dub), Kiki's Delivery Service (Disney English dub) and From Up On Poppy Hill (original Japanese with English subtitles). I found them all very enjoyable, and I plan to try and see a few more of the Ghibli films if I can.
(Also, I'm not sure if I should include Star Fleet in this thread or the Gerry Anderson thread, because it's both and neither at the same time)

If your up to date, how are you guys feeling about the summer season? I'm actually really only watching one, as 'Gangsta' doesn't tickle my fancy. 'Charlotte' on the other hand is pretty good, its some sort of Superpower anime and actually so far is pretty good, you can watch it on Crunchyroll, though its not displaying when the new episodes coming out

'Charlotte' on the other hand is pretty good, its some sort of Superpower anime and actually so far is pretty good, you can watch it on Crunchyroll, though its not displaying when the new episodes coming out I have a mountainous list this season; ten new anime and I'm running catchup on Gintama; not to mention marathoning a few 12/13 episode anime as well. For the record, I'm employed, so this isn't me no-lifeing it either. Anime I'm watching in-season: Okusama ga Seito Kaichou: Romantic comedy and a short series, each episode only 8 minutes long. Gangsta: Gang wars and the people trapped between them. Surprise of the season, and my favorite anime this year. Recommended if you like Black Lagoon, Jormungand, Baccano. Joukamachi no Dandelion: The King (not the one in my profile pic thankfully) holds an election for his replacement with his ten children as the candidates. Fun and fairly lighthearted. GAKKOU GURASHI: Describing this anime is to spoil the brilliant first episode; I recommend watching it blind. Ushio to Tora: Old-School Shonen action free of the usual cliches; violent but fun. Recommended if you like Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, HxH... Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai: Has to be seen to be believed, NSFW. Overlord: Gamer becomes his in-game character when the game is shut down, and sets about conquering the digital world that is his new reality. Recommended if you like Log Horizon or Sword Art Online. Wooser Season 3: Cute mascot character with the heart of a real-world savvy and corrupt adult finds his way into all manner of trouble. 8 minute shorts, prior seasons are only 4. Monmusume: Monster girls live with a normal human guy. I know I'm not the only member of SiF watching this one... WORKING!!!: Third and final season of a comedy/drama/romance series about the employees of a family restaurant. EDIT: Well would you look at that. My post number is finally OVER NINE hundred. Alright then.

Woo Attack on Titan finally getting intense again... I get the feeling this is the climatic battle I've waited 70+ chapters for. I am disappointed fan theories about the interior of the walls being another dimension may be about to come true. It was an "Oh dang moment" when Beast Titan appeared with another horde of Titan shifters. And looking forward to seeing season 2 of the anime. I've read will pick up at chapter 34. Thinking the Battle of the Clash of the Titans, Uprising arcs, and possibly the current Return to Shiganshina arcs will be covered.

For a good long time in my life, I've not been into anime, but recently I checked out a couple. First Dragon Ball, and then Gatchaman.
I like them both more than I thought I would, especially Dragon Ball, at least the first series, I have yet to get to Z...

Been a while hasn't?
So I've not been in the Anime scene for a while, but here's some recommendations from me:
Yona of the Dawn: This is brilliant, I'm nonly halfway through, but the story here is so thick and rich in quality. It's a 24 episode series, but it really knows how to draw in the viewer.
Dagashi Kashi: This is quite entertaining, it's currently airing, and for some reason got temporarily delayed. The characters are, interesting at best, and is airing an English dub if your curious, the dub I promise you is pretty good.
Phantom Worlds: Because of the varying opinions on this show, it's really up to you to decide whether or not to watch it. That is all.

This thread doesn't get much action does it? How about Casshern Sins?
I binge watched Casshern Sins over the last few days which probably holds the number three spot in my list of favorite animes. I watched it three times back in 2012, the first time subbed and the second times back to back when the Dub and the series debuted with the return of Toonami. The Funimation Dub is excellent BTW. Casshern Sins is still brilliant and beautiful. It's the kind of thing that will take a couple viewings to fully appreciate. The themes about simply being alive vs living are deep and fairly cerebral in my opinion. The characters are well written which is kind of unfortunate. Its the kind of thing that will make someone think both in real life and think of how the messages apply to other personally loved franchises. I credit Casshern Sins with making the infamous and almost universally hated D-Squad Arc in Star Wars The Clone Wars more enjoyable for myself. A Sunny Day In The Void (TCW episode title) had amazingly similar themes. The concept could be interesting within our favorite sentient vehicle franchise here and that isn't to say I didn't see a few shades of it in Shed 17. The plot, the mythology, and explanations are also fun to think about.
Casshern Sins is a continuity reboot of the classic Casshen anime. While it's good to have that classic under the belt and it's also worth a look, Sins requires no knowledge of the other entries in the franchise unless you want to stand in awe of how something already postapocalyptic could possibly get edgier unless you really want to force yourself through the Live Action movie adaption which takes some real dedication. But this anime isn't grimdark for the hell of it. The first eleven episodes which are a little slow and can feel slightly repetitive can feel like a challenge in dedication but the characters, the world building, and how it all builds together makes it worth it to get to the second half. The animation feels both great and retro at the same time although the mostly gray color palette can get dull. This anime is a tear jerker but it's really not depressing. Ok it is depressing but at the same time so uplifting and beautiful. The music will seem vary familiar and almost indistinguishable for InuYasha fans. Even though it got two Toonami runs and is still on Funimation's YouTube channel free I feel Casshern Sins is underrated and deserves a look. It doesn't feel like the anime has aged at all since 2012.

I can't remember if I've ever posted in this thread, but like many I've watched a fair few anime cartoons; such the obvious in Pokémon, then I got into Digimon (though I mainly watched the first season and then for some reason didn't watch the rest after the Digimon Movie), then a friend introduced me to Dragonball Z which blew my mind way back when of how awesome it was to then I later discovered Dragonball GT, and then I've seen bits and pieces of Yu-Gi-Oh! which for some reason I just never really got into - same goes for Beyblade when most of my old schoolmates were completely nuts for but I just never got on board with it.
Of course when it comes to Pokémon, I only watched the first two seasons (stroke three) and the first movie and I never got on board with the whole Pokémon Go that people went nuts for in 2016. But recently upon browsing various YouTube videos, I've been getting back into Dragonball Z and GT and forgot how good both are because I enjoyed playing some of the Dragonball Z Budokai games that were on PS2 before PS3 and so forth came along. Now whilst I favour the music used in Japan's version for Dragonball GT which later was added to the English Blue Water Dub - which was what we got aired in the UK over a decade ago now, I kind of prefer the voices for the English dub provided by Funimation.
As for modern anime, haven't really been keeping a close watch on anything as I've been more focussed on my music interest as well as watching TV Shows that emerge from DC Comics and Marvel's Cinematic Universe. But if you had to ask me who my favourite Anime character is, then the straightforward answer would be Vegeta from Dragonball Z and GT (mind you deciding between Goku & Vegeta is like deciding between Superman & Batman or Luke Skywalker & Han Solo). Now I'll admit, the downside for me when it comes to Dragonball GT is; aside from the obvious idea of making Goku a Kid again, is how characters like Gohan, Goten and even Trunks were similarly weaker as they got older compared to how strong they could have become from the end of Dragonball Z (but then again, that's just my opinion - but I suspect there are others who's views are mutual).

Your Name (Kimi No Na Wa) is an anime feature that came out in Japan in 2016, but has just come to the USA (can't say for the rest of the world). It received critical acclaim and has become the highest grossing anime film ever, beating out Spirited Away. PLEASE GO SEE IT. I saw it yesterday, and it totally lived up to the hype. It's funny, sad, heart-breaking, heart-warming, thought-provoking, well structured, well written, and, of course, gorgeously animated. I really feel like going out and watching it again because it was such a good experience that I don't think can be replicated watching it on anything other than a big screen.

I don't watch a whole lot of anime anymore. I used to be pretty into it but I have less time for it and most of the ones I've tried to watch in the last few years have failed to grab me on mythology where I really tend to get into things. Yeah I know that limits me to pretty much action, adventure, fantasy, sci-fi type stuff which all get cliche after a while.
I was bored and thinking about watching something new when I decided to ask Google, "What was the most underrated anime of 2017?" I know that sounds lame but underrated to me means it is usually something that's going to be kind of stupid on the outside but at its core is surprisingly good mythology along with characters and themes that are going to require the viewer to interpret whats going which will lead to runaway fanon more than anything. It's easy to see why alot of people would call that tedious and wasted potential on the stories' part but I love it.
ReCreators grabbed me though from the first episode. What if Henry could be magically transported straight out of the book or episode and ask his Creator the Rev. Awdry naturally why it was written that he had to go into that tunnel and suffer? What if Anakin Skywalker could be transported out of Star Wars and had the chance to ask his Creator why he had to go through everything and fans like me Why I thought it was fun to watch him become Darth Vader. That's an interesting premise if you've ever thought about creating a story through any medium.
Basically, the story is creations from Anime, Manga, Games, and Novels do just that and are transported out of their respective "worlds' where they have the chance to confront their creators with the idea of having their stories rewritten so they aren't the suffering heroes or victims in their bloody stories. Their presence starts to tear apart reality and they must unite to save the real world from destruction. The villain character Altair is a creation at the helm of that destruction who started out as one cool image of a person's own created character that was posted on the internet and everyone basically started using as their own creation.
And what are those over-the-top bombastic beats playing over the excellent fight scenes? Hiroyuki Sawano! I don't care if it all sounds the same (I dare you to tell me you hear the same emotions in the Guilty Crown, Attack on Titan, and ReCreators soundtrack). Great soundtrack picks up on some Rob Zombie influences, particularly in the song "Layers". Yeah, I concede to some of the Youtube comments which are about worthless anyways that the animation wasn't always the greatest and there are lots of talking head scenes. I had a fun with this.

I've recently been watching the complete of series 1 of the 1980's classic, The Mysterious Cities of Gold. I stumbled across it while checking out some nostalgia theme tunes and found the opening to this anime quite good. I decided to give it a try and while the main plot takes it's time to get properly underway, it's actually been quite enjoyable and often suspenseful in parts. The dubbing starts out quite bland and there are a few cuts here and there between sentences when characters talk just to get the dialogue to match with the lip sync, but over time it evens out a little and does have some good humour in places. The music throughout isn't that bad but certain tracks are repeated now and again to match the mood of the scenes. Personally I don't seem to mind.
Today I saw through the second series which started in 2012, continuing from where the first series left off. It keeps true with the original source and has some really good moments in places. The score for this series is wonderful with different episodes having specially composed pieces which reflect on the culture that the story takes place in.
ATM the third series has been released for a while in various countries but the english dub for it is yet to be released so when the release date comes I look forward to seeing where the journey's continues.
