I don't generally watch a lot of anime, but most of my friends love it, so I'm trying to get myself involved. Up until recently, the closest thing to anime I watched was Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series. When I was younger, I used to watch more animes, such as Pokemon, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh.
A few weeks ago, I started watching Fullmetal Alchemist, and it has quickly taken its place as one of my favourite ever shows. I watched episode 11 (The Other Brothers Elric Part 1) yesterday, and I aim to watch as much as possible during the holidays. Does anyone have any suggestions for good animes?

Ok, up to date on Bleach and One Piece, enjoyed both immensely. I recommend One Piece be watched subbed, as the dub is WAY behind, but Bleach is fine either way...
One other thing; Kyo No Go No Ni. It's cute, funny, and charming; a series about eight fifth graders and the adventures they have as they learn about themselves, each other, and the world around them. Be warned though, there are some moments that come across as very creepy, although they are used for comedic effect (but keep in mind that the main characters are all 5th graders). 10 out of 10, the single most heartwarming and adorable work of fiction I've seen since Usagi Drop.

I'd recommend Gurren Lagann and Soul Eater. A friend of mine who isn't into anime absolutely loved those two series as well as Fullmetal Alchemist. Also be sure to check out the second series Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It follows the manga's storyline much more closely and the ending is much more satisfying, to me at least.

Has anyone here seen One Piece: Strong World. I've been trying to track down the DVD or Blu-Ray for a cheap price, and from what I've heard Japanese DVDs and CDs are normaly quite expensive. So, any suggestions on websites to buy from?

I've recently found a link to animephase where you can watch the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie: A wakening of the Trailblazer in english subtitles, as far as i can tell it's the Blu-ray version. Highly recommended for any Gundam fans on SiF. Here it is! www.animeultima.tv/gundam-00-movie-a-wakening-of-the-trailblazer-episode-1-english-subbed/Loved it from begining to the very end, great movie through n through. Overall score, 10/10 in my books. Looking forward to the english dub version.

This past fall I started with Dragonball Z Kai. I randomly tuned into the middle of the Frieza battle, not even realizing what it was, but I watched to the end and caught the next one too. The fights are pretty long (partly because Nicktoons has this weird schedule of something like twice a week every other month), but I hear it's peanuts compared to the original cut from the 90s.

I most recently started watching the anime series 'Clannad'. The first season is definetly great to watch, let me tell you - it is a beautiful and wonderful season. I would recommand watching it - just make sure you have a couple of boxes of tissues, cause there are some bits that will make you cry. I cried a bit when I watched it. I give this season a 10 out of 10.

Just finished watching Claymore, and that is a good show even though the last three episodes divert from the manga.

I've recently began watching an anime series called "Tegami Bache (Letter Bee)", which tells the adventures of Lag Seeing, a 'Letter Bee (delivery boy)' from the 'Bee Hive (delivery service)', whose job is delivering letters and packages from town to town. Lag is joined in his adventures by his Dingo, Niche, and her "pet", Steak. I find this series very enjoyable because it not only tells of the adventures the 'Bees' experience during their deliveries, but it also shows the emotional bonds between the sender and reciever through their letters and packages, all of which show how important a delivery job is. Personally, I feel that this would be Percy the Green Engine's favorite anime series, as it relates to his favorite job of delivering the mail. This is the series' opening I found on YouTube:

If you ever go back to watch the original, I'd recommend watching it in Japanese, at least until the Buu Arc. The dub is pretty poor but I watch it out of nostalgia.

Wow. Looking at my year-old post about Gundam 00, It's hard to believe how fast the time rocketed by. Well, I have finally gotten around to watching "Awakening of the Trailblazer," and it was every bit as good as the rest of the show. Did people die? Duh, it's a Gundam series. Did they die heroes? You bet they did. Rest in peace, Andrei Smirnov and Graham Aker. Tieria Arde's kinda dead too, but also kinda not, being an innovator and all... In the end, worth the time to watch? If you watched the original two series, then yes; an ending that gives you one last glimpse of the 00 universe('cause they're making a new Gundam show now...) and how awesome everyone in it is, even in the face of almost certain death. Two hours of epicness, so have some popcorn if you wanna watch it all in one go.

I have seen a couple of episodes of Pokemon Black and White.
Team Rocket's new motto reminds me of Power Rangers, especially later seasons like Mystic Force where the rangers give themselves titles before they say their names (e.g. "Fearsome as fire, Red Mystic Ranger").
In the 2nd ep I saw, instead of blasting off like Team Rocket usually does, they got onto paragliders and flew off. Well that's a first. And Giovanni giving them instructions at the end? I thought if Diamond and Pearl was anything to go by he'd forgotten about them. And Jessie seems to have got rid of Wobuffet.
Also, Ash looks younger. Did he visit the Fountain of Youth or something?

They have to get rid of non unova pokemon as to not attract attention. So, yeah. Pikachu and Meowth stay, (mascots) but others dont.

Anime isn't something I'm really familiar with; the only Anime series I've ever watched for more than one episode are Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh GX. Not to say I don't like anime, from the impressions I'm getting, and very little other anime I have watched, it looks quite good.
I watched an episode of Pokemon Black and White on the weekend (after a school induced hiatus since 2008) and I found that Pokemon is still as enjoyable as I left it. I don't really understand why Cilan gets all this hate for "replacing" Brock. I actually don't mind him as a character. Besides, Ash's travelling companions all come and go, so Amy and Rory Iris and Cilan aren't really a downer to me after watching Rose, Martha, Donna and Jack Misty, May, Dawn and Brock for so long. My only complaint is that the one travelling companion they haven't got rid of is that annoying little yellow rodent perpetually on Ash's shoulder. But seeing as it's the mascot, they'll never get rid of it... But anyway, Pokemon still seems to be the the show I left 3 years ago. And I'm happy with that.

So far i've watched 6 episodes of Gundam Age and so far it's looking good, it seems Sunrise had recycled sound effects from Gundam Seed (Beam rifle shots, Beam sabers just to name a few) The UE mobile suits are a strange but wicked design, like the Gafran being able to transform from normal mode to a Dragon-like mode (nice touch Sunrise ) I'm looking forward to episode 7 as the Gundam Age-1 gets it's Titus upgrade, it's gonna kick ass!!! ;D

Saw another episode of Pokemon Black and White today.
In another surprise this season, Team Rocket were completely absent from the episode. Well at least it stops the episodes from being formulaic i.e. showing up so they can steal the Pokemon Of The Week. Still, I'm surprised.
I find it odd that Iris calls Ash a kid. Isn't Ash supposed to be the one with more experience in Pokemon training?

Pokemon: Best Wishes differs from previous seasons quite alot.
And Cranky: It's part of the irony, Iris is actually rather inexperienced compared to Ash.

A few days ago, I managed to finally see Akira. I enjoyed it, to say the least. The english voice acting was a little grating (granted this was the older english dub), and I wouldn't say it's the best anime I ever saw, but I can see why people like it. I didn't really find that one infamous scene of Tetsuo all that scary( This was probably because I had seen the parody of said scene in the South Park episode "Trapper Keeper" beforehand), so it was bearable, albeit somewhat disgusting. The story was solid, the characters were likeable, and I like the sort of supposedly bad future stories that were pretty commonplace in animes produced in Japan at the time. My only gripe was that it seemed like the story seemed to drag a little bit, but overall it was entertaining, and I enjoyed it. I'd say it's something worth renting on Netflix if you get the chance
