I also hope the producers learn from mistakes such as Thunderbirds and Thomas and the Magic Railroad. what was wrong with Thunderbirds, i thought it was good the way they brought it into a sort of modern world, compared to the original series, the 5 Thunderbird Craft looked so darn good in the movie... that and the fact i was first in queue and got one of the first copies on dvd

OK sorry to those who liked Thunderbirds but in my honest opinion I didn't like it and I thought it was worse than Magic Railroad (that does have it's faults but we all know where the problem was). I felt the Tunderbirds movie had very little to do with the TV series and it was more of a spy kids rip off. There just wasn't enough Thunderbirds. Right now back on topic and anyone else want to talk to me about their opinion on the Thunderbirds film please feel free to PM me

ok so as Mr Men are coming to the big screen, are we going to end up with the look of the recent series or will it be the original Hargreaves look?

A few updates for those who used to or still enjoy this book series... For those who remember Mr.Mo, the exclusive Mr Men character introduced for 'Movember' in 2010 (see one of my posts on the previous page), this year Adam Hargreaves has finally given him what all Mr Men & Little Miss characters rightfully deserve, a book: More information can be found here, and other Mr. Men who grow moustaches can be seen here. Some of them look quite funny! Even though I no longer collect Mr Men & Little Miss merchandise, I bought a copy anyway to help support the cause, and obviously due to it's impending rare-ness in the future. Also, apparently a Japanese-exclusive Little Miss was created in 2011, called Little Miss Cawaii (Japanese for 'cute'): At the moment she's only been released as merchandise, not a book. A little bit more info here. And, just now I've discovered another new Little Miss character due for release in 2014- Little Miss Hug: More information here.

Those last two really don't have the same feel as the rest of the Mr. Men and Little Miss to me. Whether it's something to do with the fact that they don't have the same sort of hand-drawn appearance that the series prior had (and still has with the likes of Mr Mo there) or if it is something to do with them looking more cutesy and greetings-card mascot-y I'm not sure. But they are interesting additions nonetheless. Really like Mr Mo though.
(And is it me, or is Miss Hug just Miss Kawaii with her hair up and her bow on the opposite side of her head?)

Really not sure what to make of the last additions. Perhaps I agree with Halfbaked8. Little Miss Hug does seem like she could be on a lot of merchandise (like Little Miss Princess go in a shop and look out for Mr Men merchandise she'll probably be there) but she doesn't seem to have that much potential to me. Do you know who I which Little Miss should have her own book that does have potential? Little Miss Calamity. I loved her antics in the Mr men show and it's a shame she's not in series 2. I would love her to be officially part of the Mr men cast.
It's interesting that the article states that Mr Mo takes place in Dillydale as that was where the Mr Men show took place. Perhaps that is canon now

Just to say that if your list of voice actors includes Arthur Lowe, John Alderton, Neil Crone and Steve Kynman then you know you're an awesome character... mrmen.wikia.com/wiki/Mr._Nosey

I checked up on this franchise recently after quite a while, because I still have a nostalgic love for the books and characters- and there seems to have been quite a bit of activity over the years, although not in a good way in my opinion! Recently there have been an influx of 'brand' characters- characters created solely by a company or store for promotions, and they're all approved and official. All of the ones I've found so far are below: Mr. Quiffy (introduced late 2014) More information here and here. Mr. First (also introduced late 2014) More information here and here. Mr. Glug (also introduced late 2014) More information here and here. Mr. Try and Little Miss Unbelievable (introduced late 2015) More information here and here. Mr. Superhero (introduced early this year) More information here and here. Mr. Gap and Little Miss Gap (introduced early this year) More information here and here. Now, while special 'promotional' characters aren't exactly new to the Mr Men franchise ( Mr. Beefeater, Mr. Stupid), I feel this has gone quite too far, with so much commercialisation it no longer feels like the lovely bedtime books written by a father for this children. Not surprising given today's culture for children's franchises, but still disappointing. At least give them books and make them part of the official line-up! In other news (which I have literally just discovered), we can expect more new characters in books this year: Mr. MarvellousSee here. Little Miss FabulousSee here. Here is a press release, where you can see interesting concept designs for them, as well as two other future characters, Mr. Adventurer and Little Miss Sparkle. Ehh... they don't make 'em like they used to! EDIT: Just discovered another one! Mr. FunYou can see more of him on this page.

Can't say I'm a fan of the new Mr Men characters. As a lifelong fan of Mr Men I have to ask of the brand tie tin characters, what's the point? I'm sure is Mr Men fans would prefer official characters instead of those who are created to sell brands. Even Thomas doesn't do that. Makes you think why they didn't use Little Miss Fun instead of creating a Mr Man version
The only one I'm actually interested in is Mr Superhero and he seems to be a brand only character. It would make things interesting if he got his own book as superhero movies are very popular at the moment. Speaking of which I have seen some very good pictures of Mr Men characters as Marvel, DC and other well known superheroes. If they made them into books I would defiantly buy them. A Mr Men version of Batman and Joker I'd buy in a heartbeat. Someone has done a Mr Men version of Deadpool By the Way.
As for the new Mr Men books, those personalities don't interest me I'm afraid. Little Miss Fabulous and Sparkle aren't even traits. I think Mr Adventure is a Mr Man version of Russell from Up. That is the one I'm most interested in.
Remember when Mr Nobody got his own book after 25 years and became an official character? I think they should release the Mr Men character who were French exclusive in the British markets and make them official. I think Little Miss Loud and Busy Body would be excellent additions. I also think Little Miss Calamity should get her own book as well. Loved her in the Mr Men show and I think she deserves a chance as well. It would seem there are characters out there that are created with great character traits who are waiting to get their own book and join the official cast.

I feel exactly the same way OJ , almost none of these characters have the same 'magic' as the originals. Although some do at least deserve official books, like Mr. Superhero as you said, or Mr. Glug (he's got an online 'book', but not a physical one as far as I know). Interestingly enough with the French characters, the official Mr. Men and Little Miss Instagram account indicates that the company are aware of these characters, and when someone asked if they'll ever be released in English, they repied it's "something to think about for the future". I only hope they do! And to make things more complicated, a new app game "Mr. Men- Mishaps & Mayhem" introduce yet another new character, called Mr. No (far left): Even though there's already a Mr. No! Very frustrating.. Continuing on, I just came across these four promotional characters, mostly created by a guy called Michael Lau for a pop-up fashion walk in Hong Kong: Mr. Walk and Little Miss FashionMr. ML and Mr. GUMGUMGUM
('GUMGUMGUM' being the store the promotion took place in. As for 'ML', I have no idea!) See here. They're not even created by Adam Hargreaves, but have the official Mr. Men and Little Miss copyright- is that enough to make them legit characters? Under normal circumstances I'd say so, but these are so gimmicky that I kinda don't want to accept their existence..

I'm glad there's a chance for the French characters to become official. As I said Mr Nobody became one after 25 years (I have the original book somewhere) and these French characters have potential to become excellent additions. I already have them in French but if they made them into English then I'd be willing to buy them. It's interesting to note that the illustration looks very similar to the Mr men and Little Miss characters who debuted in 1994. Could it be those characters weren't chosen to be published in Egnlad for what ever reason?
I had heard about Mr Men App game version of Mr No and assumed it was meant to be the same character. Shame it looked like it wasn't. The App Game version looks like a hooligan who hangs around park benches. I wonder if that was intentional.
Promotional Mr Men do look like Barrel scrapers and I think they aren't worthy to become official characters. I really prefer the more well known ones with great traits as that was how Roger Hargreaves intended it to be.
I've noticed now in Mr Men merchandise a recent addition Little Miss Princess appears a lot in them. I know she's there to appeal to girls but I'm getting the feeling she's overused in them. Maybe I just prefer other Little Miss characters then her.
Remember Mr Cheeky? I have that book as well. He was created from a competition to created a brand new character. I would assume he would have been part of the main cast but he hasn't been seen in any Mr Men stuff since his book. Mr Cheeky could have been an interesting character and cheeky is an interesting trait to create stories. I'd take Mr Cheeky over any of those gimmicky characters any day .

Our winner was Little Miss Jealous, an equally unique and overlooked character unfortunately. Anyway, more updates, more "characters"! Little Miss ValentineOnly for merchandise fodder it seems, like this and this. Little Miss OLTCreated by French designer Olympia Le-Tan. Was made for ridiculously-overpriced merchandise, and also has an exclusive book. See here and here. Mr. Cacao and Little Miss MeltyCreated as part of a ':Chocoolate' promotion for Hong Kong store i.t. See here and here. Little Miss OuiSeems to have been created for Elle Japan, to celebrate a 20th anniversary. Some Japanese pages with a bit of info here and here. Mr. GraffCreated by British graffiti artist CHEO as part of the 45th Anniversary for Mr. Men and Little Miss. See here. Not sure it's a good thing to promote graffiti though And the aforementioned new book characters have had there final appearances revealed: Mr. Adventure (changed from "Adventurer") Looks to have been created for Heathrow Airport promotions. See here and here. At least this character gets a book unlike all the other promotional characters! Little Miss SparkleMeh...

You're lucky to have got Mr Cheeky Salty that is a very rare book. Have you got Little Miss Jealous? What is the synopsis for that story? She sounds like a very interesting character. She should have been made canon as well.
Mr Adventure sounds interesting but Little Miss Sparkle doesn't. Since when was sparkle a personality trait? It seems there's too many promotional Mr Men characters. Give Little Miss Calamity and Little Miss Daredevil their own books. They deserve one.
Plus seeing all those promotional Mr Men characters make me wish they do give the French characters their books too.

I can't believe I haven't posted in this thread sooner! I've been a major fan of Mr Men since I was a very small kid! In fact, when I was three, I astonished my family by standing on my gran's table and reciting the whole of Mr Nosey from start to finish!
I will admit, I didn't think about them much during primary school, but my interest was revived during my first year at secondary school. Once a fortnight, we would have English lessons with a different teacher from usual, and one of the projects she gave us was to create your own Mr Man or Little Miss. I created Mr Sensible, who for some reason took everyone to the cinema to see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. But a few years later, I started rebuilding my collection. At the moment, I have the entire set of original Mr Men and Little Miss books (three cheers for boot fairs ) as well as most of the DVDs and some of the more recent books.
I don't know if anyone else knows this, but there were a collection of Mr Men and Little Miss audio cassettes produced during the 90s. Each tape included the original story and a song on side one, and a new story and the song's instrumental on side two. The Mr Men tapes were read by Douglas Blackwell and are as follows:
Mr Bump Mr Tickle Mr Nosey Mr Greedy Mr Small Mr Bounce Mr Snow Mr Happy Mr Chatterbox Mr Funny Mr Silly Mr Grumpy Mr Noisy Mr Topsy Turvy Mr Forgetful Mr Clumsy Mr Jelly Mr Tall Mr Lazy Mr Skinny Mr Daydream Mr Grumble
The Little Miss tapes were read by Josie Lawrence, and are as follows:
Little Miss Bossy Little Miss Naughty Little Miss Neat Little Miss Sunshine Little Miss Tiny Little Miss Trouble Little Miss Giggles Little Miss Somersault
I remember having quite a lot of them as a kid, but I gave nearly all of them away. Also, does anyone remember the 90s cartoon? 'Cause I certainly do!
This will probably be music to your ears, but there's going to be a Mr Men Mini Museum at the OXO tower between 24-29 August! People are encouraged to take photos of their Mr Men collection in general and any rarities in particular, and post it onto an online archive. These pictures will be shown throughout the exhibition. The exhibits themselves will be provided by Michelle Harrop from Hampshire, as hers is the biggest Mr Men collection in the world, with over 2,500 items!
So if anyone wants to send in photos of their collections, you can upload them to the archive here.

Lolo, looks like someone took an idea I did years ago! XD I actually heard of the Mr. Men back in 2004 when I discovered international sites of certain kids channels, but I forgot about it for a while until 2007 when my interest of Thomas came back around 2007. It was because of Daniel Coffey, who did some Thomas/Mr. Men videos. I wasn't interested at first because of the certain stories on YT at the time, though I like the Little Misses spinoff.

It was because of Daniel Coffey, who did some Thomas/Mr. Men videos. I wasn't interested at first because of the certain stories on YT at the time, though I like the Little Misses spinoff. It is I ~ the very person who made Thomas/Mr. Men videos on YouTube and Dailymotion back in 2007. Just thought I'd let you know here. All I can vividly remember Mr. Men from my younger days was through a cartoon compilation VHS tape featuring not only Thomas & Gordon, but Pingu, Postman Pat, Paddington Bear and of course ~ Little Miss Trouble from the Little Miss series (1983). My brother used to have some Mr. Men books in his room until he quickly grew out of it, and now these books are in my possession. It wasn't until 2002 when the first sets of Mr. Men and Little Miss (1995) series were released on VHS and DVD, I was completely hooked from then on. Over a year later, I watched a VHS tape featuring the first thirteen episodes of the original Mr. Men series (1975) with late Arthur Lowe narrating, and later the complete Little Miss (1983) series on DVD. Years later I started collecting not only VHS and DVDs, but books and figurines as well ~ even after the Mr. Men Show first broadcasted on Milkshake! On Thursday August 25th, 2016, I went to the OXO Museum in Southbank, London to see the special exhibition of Mr. Men memorabilia ~ including the first edition copy of Mr. Tickle! I made the special video about it and the results payed off terrifically. See for yourself. ~ Mr. Coffey Pot

So I watched some videos of the new characters someone posted on YT, and I think they're not that interesting, IMO. I'm not sure if Adam is suffering the same problem Christopher had with the RWS or if someone else is writing these, but they don't have the same spark as the previous ones. Mr. Marvelous is a complete Marty Stu, and feels overpowered. He's faster than Mr. Rush, eats more than Mr. Greedy, and can change his body Sure, he can't beat Miss Naughty, but that's just that. Mr. Adventure was okay, though I think this would've work better for Mr. Brave. In fact, they look identical! Either they're related, or the company are running out of designs. I think his purpose was probably to promote Heathrow Airport, as I see a lot of promotion on him. Though I guess is better than the other characters they only made for promotional purposes. Miss Sparkle is just like that episode from the 90's cartoon, where Mr. Happy is depressed after seeing his friends not being cheery, and the friends decided to make him feel better. It was alright. Miss Fabulous is probably the best one story wise, as I think the story is a funny twist on trying to get back at the main character.

I've seen the videos on Youtube for the new stories as well. Mr Adventurer story is alot like Mr Rush but with a different ending. I sort of enjoyed Little Miss Sparkle but I had very low expectations for that one. I like the message was the negative people drain the positivity out of people but you can get it back with nice funny eccentric folk.
I wouldn't say Adam Hargreaves is suffering but it must be hard to come up with new characters now as there are alot of them and what new ones can you come up with.
I hope if this Mr Men Dr Who books sell well then they'll do Superheroes. I love to see Mr Men version of Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man and other DC, Marvel and other superhero characters. I can see those being popular. I think that might be better than coming up with brand new Mr Men characters.

So more stuff popped up about the Doctor Who crossovers. ew.com/books/2017/04/13/doctor-who-mr-men-adam-hargreaves-books/Here's some more images, and some are on Missy, River Song, and I presume Sarah Jane. The only designs I'm not a fan of are Fourth and River, as they're just the same designs as Mr. Topsy Turvy and Miss Late.
