I've been a Red Sox and Marlins fan for quite some time now. While the Sox's chances are slim, they still have a chance. And with the Marlins on a roll, I hope they make it, too.
And the thing about this was that I was a Yankee fan at one time...

Hey hey, even though I've almost completely lost hope in them, they still could pull off some miraculous turnaround. flippin snotty Yankees fans...Yeah, "flippin snotty Yankees fans...". I'm just stating the obvious. The majority of Red Sox nation gave up a while back anyways.

Well, here are my updated predictions: NL east: Mets* NL central: Cardinals NL west: Dodgers NL wild card: Phillies AL east: Yankees* AL central: Twins AL west: Athletics AL wild card: Tigers* Right now, I think the Twins are better than the Tigers. Either way, I am still hopeful for another Subway Series.

Well, tonight is Game 1 of the ALCS. The A's against the Tigers. Robertson will be against Zito in the pitching matchup. I think Oakland's chances will depend on the play of Frank Thomas.

Detroit definitely has them beat as far as pitching goes. But the way Frank Thomas has been playing lately, he might just carry the team. I'm hoping the Mets won't have any trouble with St. Louis, but I think it will be an offensive series, as both teams have injuries to some of their pitchers.

Yankee Cory Lidle Presumed 1 of 2 Killed
NEW YORK (AP) - A small plane carrying New York Yankee Cory Lidle slammed into a 50-story skyscraper Wednesday, apparently killing the pitcher and a second person in a crash that rained flaming debris onto the sidewalks and briefly raised fears of another terrorist attack.
A law enforcement official in Washington, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Lidle - an avid pilot who got his flying license during last year's offseason - was aboard the single-engine aircraft when it slammed into the 20th floor of the high-rise on Manhattan's Upper East Side. And Mayor Michael Bloomberg said both people aboard were killed.
The official said Lidle's passport was found at the crash scene.
Federal Aviation Administration records showed the single-engine plane was registered to the athlete, who had repeatedly assured reporters in recent months that flying was safe and that the Yankees - who lost catcher Thurman Munson in the 1979 crash of a plane he was piloting - had no reason to worry.
"The flying?" Lidle told The Philadelphia Inquirer this summer. "I'm not worried about it. I'm safe up there. I feel very comfortable with my abilities flying an airplane."
The crash came just four days after the Yankees' humiliating elimination from the playoffs. In recent days, Lidle had taken abuse from fans on sports talk radio for saying the team was unprepared.
The law enforcement official said the plane had issued a distress call before the crash. The official said it was unknown whether Lidle was at the controls

I think MLB did the right thing by cancelling the Mets/Cardinals game tonight. The rain is only adding to the tragedy that occurred today.

k, can't wait for Spring Training to be over with... April 2nd couldn't come any slower. My Yanks are 5-0 in ST, but that means crap. Igawa pitched today, but his control was off, as was Tyler Clippard's (who usually has GREAT control), so Imma guess there's somethin in the water in Tampa

Mike Timlin's starting the season on the DL too, he's the best relief man the Sox have got. Joel Pineiro's old and not that great, and Brendan Donnelly was unimpressive when I saw him pitch. Jon Lester's looking good, he'll be back before the All-Star break. Sox are lookin good this year.
Perdo Martinez is supposed to be out until August with that surgery... it's too bad.

Indeed. I'm really not too sure how the Mets are going to fair out this year. We have a realatively older team, and that may foreshadow a year of injuries. But who knows, maybe by some miracle we'll end up as good, or better than we were in the '06 season. Man, I can't believe Opening Day is just around the corner...
