Well, there's always the weather to talk about, so this thread is dedicated to meteorological phenomena. Could be near you, far away, not happening right now, etc.
Must say, though, I'm gonna start off with something from last night. Something major.
Last night was fun. and by that, I mean, I was cowering in the basement, quite nervous.
We had an absolutely nasty, long-lived tornado come through last night. Started around 8:00PM in Fulton County near a place called Yates City. It then decided to truck straight through Peoria County, to a place called Elmwood, where it did a great amount of damage to buildings and property, and then bounced straight through the north side of the Peoria Metro area. and then crossed the river. and, touching down again, apparently much stronger, came within about a mile north of our town, Washington, before finally roping out somewhere around 9:30. Darn thing was on the ground for better part of an hour and a half.
There were two MORE tornadoes in the Streator area, causing damage to that town as well.
YT links thus far. (haven't checked for swearing, but there is storm damage, so viewer discretion is advised.)
Elmwood - appears to have been a fairly ropy, but long-lived tornado
Damage from the storm in Elmwood
Streator - a much more violent wedge at night, hard to see.
If you believe, please pray for the people of these towns. If you don't, lend your best wishes.
EDIT: the National Weather Service's bulletin for the storm.
