You want wild weather? Check this out news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8194122/queensland-flood-crisis-shifts-southNorth Australia (mostly Queensland) has been inundated with water, so much so that a town 700 meters about sea level was hit with the force of "an atom bomb", as locals described. Houses were literally washed away, and the current death toll stands at 8... That's a LOT of water, folks...

It is. I certainly hope nobody on the forums was affected by the flooding.
UPDATE: We had an additional 2-3 inches of snow a few days ago. It has snowed consistently every week for a month now. That hasn't happened in my recollection around here. UPDATE 2: On Wednesday night going into Thursday morning, we had almost 19 inches of snow. What is going on?

The weather here has been cold and chilly lately...it is Winter after all. However this weekend has been rather warm. It's been 50 degrees. For the first time since fall, I could walk around without a coat...for a little while at least.

Doln't get me started. This is just like TUGS. Above normal heat in Summer (great, might I add. Lot's of mud!) and record chilliness in Winter. Our snow started in early November, and expected to be all gone by mid-May. MAY!? That's when the thunderstorms start! I hope we're in for an average Summer, not too hot, but a nice breeze. I still can't believe May. I live in Alberta, Canada, by the way.

for those of you who may not have heard, over the past few days an extremely violent storm system has been moving across the us from west to east. last I heard it has killed 9 people. the system is a few hours from hitting us in eastern north carolina. I'm sitting here watching the weather channel, listening to the reports of tornadoes about 100 miles to the west. currently there are roughly 5 on the ground. Its interesting to hear weathermen admitting that this is the most dangerous storm they've ever tracked. wish us luck EDIT: the death toll from the storm is now up to 30. most of the deaths have occured in my area within the past few hours. the system is nearly off of the coast, and we are experiencing constant lightning. many buildings in the area have collapsed, and unfortunatly people have been killed in these. please pray for these unfortunate victims and their families

I hope you guys are doing okay down there. Up here on the north Eastern coast, we were hammered today by rain, bad wind, and the occasional massive thunderclap and bolt. Nothing too serious, thankfully, but it's been threatening to flood all day.

thanks for the concern. i've just learned that a family member of one of my friends was killed last night no more than 10 miles from where I live. tornadoes were touching down in the marine base near my home, yet somehow my town was left untouched. I feel very fortunate because of this. last night was also my high school's prom, and surprisingly it went on as usual despite the weather.

Pity to hear about the death. Unfortunately with weather, it still remains fairly unpredictable. But we can only hope we can plan in better in the future.

The weather in my area has been RIDICULOUS lately. Just two weeks ago, it was bright, sunny and enjoyable. Then, it snowed. Then it was bright and sunny. Then, just three days ago, it snowed. Again!
It's been only two weeks since my last illness, and yesterday, I caught one again. Is a bit of good weather seriously that tall a request!?

The weather in Canada is the one reason I don't like it here. Oh well, better than the Arctic! EDIT: May 13 Yesterday, today, and for the next little while, we've had high winds (no pun intended). A few trees fell over, and walking outside is nearly impossible. You literally get blown over. Lucky for me, I wear glasses, so only half the sand blows in my first.

It's been unbelieveably cold for the past week or so, and we had, practically, rain the WHOLE day. I mean from afternoon to night, rain!

Just a little while ago, I felt an earthquake. I think this earthquake's hit parts of Virginia, Washington DC and New York. I heard these loud booming noises in addition to feeling the ground shaking. The earthquake's been given a 6.0 on the Richter scale. EDIT: Thanks for the correction, Ajani.

It's actually a 5.9 (a big difference in the actual feel of the quake) and it's hit most of the east coast. It seems to have stated in Mineral Virginia and has been felt as far away as New York City! At first people in DC thought it was another 9/11 attack. Thank God that it wasn't! My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by it. So far no fatalities, so that's good news so far. EDIT: The news is now saying it's a 5.8.

Yeah that's what they say, though I live pretty close to that region, and thankfully, we got no aftershocks up here.

So, uh... how 'bout that hurricane that's gonna slam the Mid-Atlantic coastlines soon? They say it will even hit New York City!
Irene, we don't need your help in messing with the country...

Yep, Irene's supposed to hit here (Southern NJ) about... 6 hours from now. I'm worried about the shore, and the fact there's a puddle covering a fourth of our lawn right now.
