I'm not in a band sadly, but I am thinking of starting one.
I can play these instruments: Guitar (favourite instrument to play) Piano (taught myself a little stuff to play, but now I take a class for it) Bass guitar (taught myself to play) Drums (taught myself to play) Trombone (used to take lessons, but sold it to buy a guitar) Recorder (taught myself to play. Never was a big fan of it, but if you handed me one, I'd play it)

I can play the following...
Guitar (used to enjoy it more, but now mostly just use it when I need a guitar sound in a recording)
Keyboard (I love vintage 80's synthesizer sounds! ;D I've also improved alot recently, and have taken classical piano lessons since I was 5)
Drum[kit] (in the school band program, although not in any extra-curricular programs anymore)
I often record myself, and put together little songs and background music for Thomas the Bachmann Model. Most of this music has been unused, as it doesn't fit the series too well...

I don't play any instruments myself (unless you count the recorder), but people tell me I sing very well. I have no idea what they're talking about, but you can find out for yourself here. Personally I think I lack volume - I've been meaning to work on another version of this particular song, playing both parts this time. (The guy singing is my friend Josh, and he truly is great at it!) I also need to take a cassette recorder to my brother and sister's house next time I'm there, so I can record them. My brother plays piano, and my sister plays violin. Put all three of us in a room together, and you've got yourself a Christmas pageant!

I played the flute when I took band class in 6th grade, I stopped using it because I couldn't seem to play it. I sometimes mess around with my uncle's guitar, and I enjoy singing.

Pianist. Music Director. Composer. Aranger. Jazz Specialist.
Interestingly enough, when a piano hasn't been available, I've been able to work with vocalists using only a recorder as an instrumental reference. Would be so much better if it could at least be a flute...
I only wish I could play other instruments - except for the chronic lack of thousands of dollars to get a hold of the instruments. (I do have a battered old trombone I found lying around at Uni, but it has no mouthpiece...)

I'm not in a band of any description but I'm a real dab-hand with the electric guitar. I've only had it for 9 months (with no lessons) and I can already play the following:
QUEEN: Driven By You Hammer To Fall Crazy Little Thing Called Love We Will Rock You
TRAVELLING WILBURYS: Handle With Care End of the Line
FREE: All Right Now
RAINBOW: Since You've Been Gone
SANTANA: Samba Pa Ti
MARK JOSEPH: Bringing Back Those Memories Moody Blues (still learning)
BOB DYLAN: Like A Rolling Stone
PINK FLOYD: Wish You Were Here
TROGGS: Wild Thing
STATUS QUO: Whatever You Want
T-REX: Get It On 20th Century Boy
THE BEATLES: I Want To Tell You If I Needed Someone Photograph
THE WHO: My Generation Pinball Wizard Love Ain't For Keeping Young Man Blues (still learning) Won't Get Fooled Again (my crowning achievment)
.............I think there's more but I can't think of them all right now.

Drummer, percussionist and occasional singer in far too many musical projects! I'm a classically trained drummer, been learning since I was eight, and music is "my thing" - I'm studying it at university next year, focussing on performance. Outside of school ensembles (many, varied and of varying quality!), I'm principal percussionist in my local Symphony Orchestra in South Wales, as well as the county wind band who are touring to Carnegie Hall in March (followed by dates in London, Glasgow and Manchester in April), timpanist in a symphonic 10 piece brass ensemble (booked for Edinburgh festival this year)nd reresenting my country in the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales and National Youth Brass Band of Wales. Phew! I've just finished a run of "Singing in the Rain" in Swansea Grand Theatre, which was great fun, if very hot and cramped down in the orchestra pit... My main achievement so far is probably the most visible (in more ways than one - hawiaan shirts and all!).....my ska band, Skafunkle. Check out www.skafunkle.tk for the official site, where within the next month, the results of our photoshoot should be up - or if you want to hear from our demo EP released last May, check www.myspace.com/skafunkle. New Album (6 or 7 tracks) appearing in March, with songs written by...eeeep.....me! I'm not trying to show off here at all: apologies if it comes across that way. I'm just trying to show how much difference there is in the stuff I do. Can I call it work? No its a hobby - but I want to make a career out of it one day. Before Christmas was mad - one day I'd be playing ska in some lowdown smoky club in the back of beyond in a welsh valley, the next I was playing timpani in Strauss's "Auch Spracht Zarathrusta"! I do live a somewhat mad lifestyle! Does anyone else get highs by performing on stage? Its an awesome feeling, I'm addicted to it.

I play... Eb Tenor Horn (Since early 2003; I played Cornet from Sept 02 to Early 03) Piano (Since 2000) Guitar (2004; I don't really play it, but I have a Spanish one) Alto vocals (Forever; It's mainly choral stuff, but I can do any Thomas song you give me. I'm in just the right pitch at the minute so I could perform most stuff shoved my way) I also compose a bit, and I wouldn't mind conducting.

I also play the keyboard as a means of composing music cues for my audio-dubs. But it's flipping difficult. That version of Henry's theme I played in 'Seeing Red' took 6 takes to record.......and even then, I missed a key here and there.

Use something like Sibelius. It can create MIDI files from your compositions and it's dead easy to get the hang of.

I would, but Audacity sadly doesn't do MIDI files. Besides, the compositions I've created so far sound more like the real thing than on MIDI files.
But back on topic.

I started with piano, but it's been a few years since I've had lessons, and almost as long since I've made a serious attempt to play anything except by ear. I used to be able to read sheet music but if I can at all now it will take a while- it's a lot easier to pick up with other forms of notation, I feel.
During the Summer, I played a borrowed bass but I really didn't take it as seriously as I should have. One of the problems was there were so few basslines that stood at on their own, so I only learned parts of a few songs by the time I gave it back. Shame cause I've noticed so many more great basslines since then.
I bought a bass of my own shortly afterward, but since it was cheap (only thing I can afford) it sounded awful so I traded it in for an acoustic electric guitar. A little more difficult, and I haven't learned much, but considering the actual amount of time I've put into really practicing- I feel I haven't done too badly. I know a few chords and some riffs, but it's all very basic. If I can sell it, I think I might get a bass that's halfway decent (I'd really like a violin bass- but that's not happening!) and get back to practicing. I don't feel I am too talented, but I'd like to learn. I'm more concerned about if I'm limiting myself by playing right handed, but I feel pretty comfortable with it and finding lefty guitars isn't quite so easy- so I may as well continue to do so.

I play a few instruments:
- the trombone - the piano - Irish Tin Whistle (family tradition)
- And, I sing. Singing is my preferred way of performing musically and I am using my voice as my instrument for the HSC this year.

I've just recently bought a starter bass for myself, having saved up for about 2 or 3 monthes (and getting some extra cash for having done well in school lately). I have to say, I'm quite happy with it considering the price wasn't out of reach. I am definitely more comfortable with the bass, and at present I can play the following: -Highway to Hell, AC/DC -All Day and All of the Night, The Kinks -Day Tripper, The Beatles -Opening Theme from 'Barney Miller'- I've only seen it about 5 times, but the theme music is d**n catchy! -Come As You Are, Nirvana -Super Freak, Rick James ...Well most of them. I usually on bother to memorise the most recognizable pieces of the bassline, so I've got to start printing out the tablature, try playing by ear when listening to the songs, or just save up for a book of it...but it's all pretty good so far!
