So, which ones do you read? I used to read the Beano/Dandy, but now I'm a frequent reader of Viz. I attempted their Name-A-Character competition with a grand total of 101 - I doubt I'll win, but it was fun nonetheless. I also read Model Rail magazine, a cool British mag about model railways - I think Americans can buy it too. I also make my own comics which I sell at school, but some of the content cannot be discussed on the forums Nonetheless, I do a computer comic called Fred & Bob. Here's the first eight... www.maj.com/gallery/Stepneydude/New/fredandbob.bmpwww.maj.com/gallery/Stepneydude/New/bob.bmpwww.maj.com/gallery/Stepneydude/New/FrednBob/story.bmpEnough from me! What comics, magazines, fanzines etc. do you like reading? Don't be afraid to tell us if you make your own - include some examples if possible!

I used to read the Beano and Dandy. The Dandy was always my favourite, and I continued collecting it up until the end of 2003. I'm glad I stopped now. The new "cool" format introduced last year looks absolutely ghastly. In my time collecting, I think I amassed 300+ comics, and over 30 annuals.
These days I'm a regular reader of Star Trek Magazine and DVD Next (formerly Total DVD).

Let's see now......
I used to collect:
Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends/Thomas & Friends (Various varities) The Dandy Puzzler Ace Random other comics
Right now, the onlymagazine I'll buy is NOM UK, although I am considering a Yu-Gi-Oh! magazine that I see from time to time as well.

I used to collect Beano and Dandy. Both aren't as good now. Korkey the cat is no longer in Dandy since he was the least fave.
My fave from the Beano were Dennis the Menace and the Bash Street kids. I felt that the Beano went downhill when Bea was born.
I now collect Simspsons comics and I read Heathcliff comics on the net. I wish the catilic cats would appear in them but sadly I don't think they will.

I get the Offical UK Star Wars magazine and Private Eye on occasion. I also get the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway Preservation Society magazine, which is always a good read. I get White Dwarf, the magazine of Games Workshop, creators of Warhammer and 40k.

Korky being banned because he was the least popular? What?!! I loved Korky

Actually, as far as I know, Korky has made a return to the Dandy, but he's been given a digitised new look, and the only thing he does now is do Stand Up Comedy with Pun-related jokes. Bleugh... And actually, I find the Beano much better than the Dandy - the Highlights in it are "Derek the Sheep", who makes a fortnightly apperance, and "Bash Street Kids: Singled Out!" drawn by a fantastic Artist called Mike Pearse. Anyway, back On Topic, my fave comics are BEANO, CARTOON NETWORK and BIG TIME

I read 2000AD and the Megazine, they're my only regular purchases.
Stepneydude, funny coincidence, but I actually had a couple of characters called Bob and Fred. They were in a terrible novel I wrote when I was 17. Bob was an eccentric genius, Fred was his hapless friend.

I heard that in the last Korkey strip (I haven't heard that he returned) he went to a reunion but no one knew who he was. Perhaps he didn't appeal to kids of today. I had a few Beano comics were they poked fun at the Dandy. I don't think I've told anyone yet but when I was 3 I had a TUGS comic. I've no idea where it is now.

That sounds rather like a 2000AD strip they did for their 500th issue called 'Thargshead Revisited', which was basically a trip through the editor's brain. And it was seriously mean to the comic's management- at the time the writers and artists were in a massive dispute with them over pay and creators' rights. Anyway, that story featured a character from Issue 1 who no one remembered, and who gets painted out because he's so embarrassing.

Pretty much the same with Viz - in a lot of recent comics, they've claimed on the front cover that the sales are much more low - in a sense, they're poking fun at themselves

Comic sales are significantly down on what they used to be. The number of British mainstream comics (i.e. ones you get in a newsagent rather than from a specialist comic shop) is a fraction of what it once was. I remember one article where a writer says that the average sales figures for a mainstream comic these days are about a fifth of what they used to be. In fact, he said that in the 1980s, if a comic was getting the sort of sales that The Beano has now, they would have taken it out of circulation as a dismal failure.
But still. As well as print comics, I read the online cartoons Achewood, Wigu, Overcompensating, Questionable Content, Diesel Sweeties and Scary-Go-Round. I'm also trying to get my own comic strip off the ground- it's called Digs, and revolves around the adventures of a bunch of people sharing a strange house.

At the moment, the only magazine I buy is NOM, but I have been considering buying another Nintendo magazine, as NOM is greatly losing the quality in its writing.

I used to collect the Beano, but I stopped that years ago. Dunno why, just put down the comic and never picked it back up again. I don't read many comics now, but I did once apply to draw for 2000AD. Per usual, reality bitten my backside and I was turned down.

I once applied to write for 2000AD, but never heard anything back. Which was probably fair enough, as the script I sent was very poor. I was in that arrogant "I don't have to play by their submission guidelines, I'm a genius!" mode.

I used to suscribe to some kiddie mags, like Ranger Rick and NeoGeo for Kids, but now, I really don't read magazines - well, I do read my mom's monthly issue of Nursing, since I find medical things interesting. As for comics, I do read Calvin and Hobbes whenever I can, and I've got a few Garfield comic books. When I used to get Nintendo Power, I would read the Kirby comic, but I didn't usually find it that thrilling ~Elizabeth
