I used to be a subscriber to Lego Magazine in the past, until eventually it expired and I decided not to continue. The only other magazine I've ever checked out is Cartoon Cartoons Party Block (or something like that). But my favorite comic book has to be Kaput and Zosky. Typical dimwits trying to destory planets but always failing.

I used to be a valued reader of both the Beano and Dandy, but since the much favoured characters/artists/writers have either disappeared or are few and far these days, I sadly lost interest when toilet humour became the next "funny gene" for both. The Dandy has been the biggest offender of all after several major (and failed) revamps, but this latest reincarnation deserved a full review of my thoughts on it altogether: signorestudios.blogspot.com/2010/11/not-so-dandy.htmlCome back, Mike Pearse - all is forgiven!!

I'm not much of a comic reader, but my eye was caught by the demise (sort of) of a childhood staple comic: www.digitalspy.co.uk/media/news/a399871/uks-oldest-comic-the-dandy-to-cease-print-edition-go-online-only.htmlYes, The Dandy will finally bite the dust, with the last print edition going on sale for the 75th anniversary in December…however, after that, it’s going to be an online only comic (somehow, I doubt it will find the audience to thrive). This was something I’d known was due for a while; details of the sales decline were made clear last year, and quite rightly it should end after the terrible revamps it’s had in the last decade. A lot of people say the Dandy was never as good as the Beano; I'd probably edge more the Beano too, but they were both good in their own way. I felt the Beano characters were more identifiable, more iconic and had more fun adventures, but a lot of the Beano strips were about trouble-causing children of some sort, whilst the Dandy had a wider range of characters (including the goliath of a character that is Desperate Dan). RIP The Dandy; we will always remember the laughs.

I used to be a loyal reader to both the beano and the dandy. From the age of 3 to about 9/10. And it is such a shame a piece of my and a lot of peoples childhoods is now going to be wiped out.
However I agree with OSW, I was more of a Beano fan than an Dandy fan, however I did like both. My favourite Dandy character was Bananaman; (whom actually started in topper) but I did enjoy those strips.
The Dandy will be sorely missed by myself and quite a few others! R.I.P The Dandy

There are probably a lot of people who know what Toonerville Trolley is, but I've stumbled on this comic, Side Track, created by Dick Shaw during the 1950s which is a comic very few people seem to know about, even on the internet. I managed to find it on this website but if I search anywhere else, zilch. This the only source of information I have to work with. Hopefully someone on the forum who is more savvy at investigating will be able to dig deeper and uncover what could be a great newspaper comic that has been forgotten to time.

I'm a very keen Steam Railway Magazine reader, thinking of doing a subsription in the near future,I've also read The Railway Magazine,Heritage Railway & Steam World from time to time, but nothing compares to Steam Railway, that's the best one to buy, there's a very competitive market of Steam publications out there,is'nt there

Interesting, have you read the fiddletown and copperoppilous series, its a lot like that in style. I read a lot of Garfield, Fiddletown and Copperoppilous, Pogo, Bloom County, The Far side, Zits, the sad sack (preferably the WWII version), peanuts, Get Fuzzy, Asterix, Tintin, Dilbert, and my all-time favorite...Calvin and Hobbes.

Other magazines I like are Old Glory & Vintage Spirit (as I'm very keen on traction engines, steam rollers & steam lorries) & most recently over the last month: Classic & Vintage Commercials (which focuses on classic lorries & other old vehicles)

GOOD NEWS EYERYONE! (imagine a picture of Professor Farnsworth under that)
Berkley Breathead has returned to do Bloom County after 25 years! The strips are on his Facebook page.
(Here's some fairly old news that no one has mentioned here) Bill Patterson (Calvin and Hobbes) has done some artwork for Pearls Before Swine.

Have recently taken out a year's subscription to both Old Glory & Heritage Railway Magazines, need to renew my previous Steam Railway one in September/October? time though I think, after careful consideration these 3 are my favourite magazines covering the steam movement for both road & railway engines, I used to get The Railway Magazine & Vintage Spirit, but I really feel that they are'nt as good as the others, so that's why I dropped those titles.
