No SPOILERS!! Almost finished. What I will say [and hipefully therefore, avoid spoilering] is: Rambo. Epic. Conclusive. Forget Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort. Think more batsh*t crazy GALVATRON. Replete with Leonard Nimoy VA.

I picked it up at midnight on Friday. Pretty cool - we went to see Order of the Phoenix, and when we came out they were selling copies of Deathly Hallows in the foyer. We didn't even have to queue. I think Sirius Black will die in this one.

Been a closet fan of the series for a few years, mainly a Slytherin myself...and was unfortunately sorely disappointed by Book #7.
JK Rowling sets you up for something Epic and way past the extraordinary...and falls way short of the mark. If I wanted to read something with that kind of epic fail, I'd read a godmoded Sonic fanfiction.
Not a way I'd expected JK Rowling's creation to go. And please, don't tell me I'm too old to enjoy the series - I'm old enough to know the difference between epic win and epic failure. This was definitely the latter one for me.

I found the book okay myself. I could've done with a bit more action at Hogwarts myself.
The book was rather slow to begin with, but it started to get better towards the end. I couldn't understand at first why Harry, Ron and Hermione weren't at Hogwarts, but then, the death of Dumbledore must have been the last straw for poor Harry.

It was slow in the first half. The second half was awesomeness incarnate. Stuart, there was a clear reason(s) they didn't go back to Hogwarts. And the final third...just wow. Sorry, but this book was epic win.
And I seriously think she wrote at least parts of it while watching the original Transformers movie. Plus as I said. Voldemort's all-out in this. Forget the cool slithering rendition in the GoF Film.
Galvamort is bat-stir crazy.

I've just finished it. It was a very good book. A good end to a good series. I loved the final battle.

Way too anticlimactic if you ask me. Although I was happy that nearly all my theories were confirmed.

Definitely a good read. I've finished it, and can safely say that the fin 100 pages were truly awesome. The final chapter is quite sentimental, but it feels like a nice reward for someone who's got through all seven books. (And some of them aren't exactly short either!)

Was the Dean Forest in the book the same as the one Wilbert (the engine) comes from?

Ah, I've finished it! I can't believe how good the ending was!
Aside from that, the book had many mixed emotions. Great series.

I finally finished it up this morning. Really proved to be a very interesting and eventful storyline, and I really enjoyed the conclusion (though it wasn't exactly the way I had previously invisioned it). Kinda sad to see such a great series end, but all good things gotta end somewhere, eh?

Just finished the book now. All I can say is this - Rowling definitely went out with a bang with the final chapter. After everything that has happened in this book, it was well worth the wait!

I finished it at 3am last Monday morning, after 9 hours solid reading... that's all. Very good, apart from the epilogue, which was a bit unnecessary. And not enough death eaters died. ;D The final battle was awesome (the bit in Hogwarts, not the Potter/Voldy confrontation. Nice to see the teachers kicking Death Eater backside. Peeves' song is the best bit.

Peeves' song is the best bit. (Chuckles) I can agree with you about Peeves' song, and the final battle. I also enjoyed seeing Snape get his just deserts - whatever were they thinking, employing him as the Headmaster of Hogwarts? But best of all, Voldemort gets his backside kicked too. The epilogue was a nice way to round off the book - at least we know now what happened to Harry and the others, though it was slightly open-ended, and could easily lead to another set of stories. The only thing I see wrong with the book (as is the case with 'Order of the Phoenix' and, to some extent, 'Half Blood Prince',) was that stuff which could easily have been covered in one chapter, is lengthened to three chapters, making the book seem slow. I knew Snape would turn out to be Dumbledore's man! Although my theory was more elaborate and probably wouldn't have worked. It was:
Snape, being a powerful dark wizard and skilled in Occlumency, would make an excellent agent for Dumbledore. The final Horcrux would turn out to be Harry, the death of his parents being the significant murder required. This explains the link between Voldemort and Harry. Dumbledore knew that Harry would have to die, but his plan was that Snape would create a new horcrux - one for Harry himself. The death of Dumbledore would be the murder necessary to split Harry's soul.
Anyway, that was it. I'm glad to see that Hagrid survived, that guy's great.
