Earlier tonight, I managed to catch a sort of biopic about the life of J. K. Rowling. It was called "Magic Beyond Words" and featured Poppy Montgomery as J. K. Rowling. The documentary focused on the events leading up to the publication of the first book and release of the first movie.
Definitely worth watching!

Lumos! *thread that's sort of been left in the dark for years lights up*
You could say now that I am a huge fan of Harry Potter. I've seen all the films and I'm now reading the books. I'm about halfway through 'Prisoner of Azkaban' now.
Talking of Harry Potter, disregarding where the Sorting Hat would place you, which Hogwarts House would you want to be in? For me, it would have to be... Ravenclaw, for three reasons:
1. The three main members of the cast, and indeed the heroes of the story, were in Gryffindor. I would like to stick out from the crowd a little.
2. Ravenclaw values creativity & wit, which I feel are two of my strongest skills.
3. Well, blue is my favourite colour. Green is my other favourite colour, but then that's the colour of Slytherin.

Honestly? If I could be in any of the Hogwarts houses I'd like to be in Hufflepuff, the house that treats everyone the same regardless of their innate talents or abilities.

If I was in one of the Hogwarts houses, I'd definitely be in Ravenclaw, because I have quite a bit of intelligence and I'm always keen to learn.

Can't believe that I haven't commented here before (and if I have, well, that's embarrassing).
I adore this series. It has shaped my life just as much as Thomas.
I started reading at an early age (two or three), so, by the time I was five, I had a very advanced reading level. So, my mom (and one of the teachers at my school who was also a family friend) decided to introduce me to the series (this also would have been around the time when the Sorcerer's Stone movie was released, I think). I didn't get past the first chapter. In my defense, though, I was five. I don't remember seeing that book's movie in the theater, but I very solidly remember seeing Chamber of Secrets. I was drawn to the movie by trailers featuring the Hogwarts Express. It was fantastic; it began a (so far) life-long obsession with the series. I finally read Sorcerer's Stone in 2004, in my hype for the Prisoner of Azkaban movie (I had in fact seen Sorcerer's Stone by this point). I found the book of PoA at a store while on vacation that year, and against warnings of spoiling the movie for myself from my mom, I bought it, read it, and loved it. It remains my favorite book of all time to this day (I actually just got a new hardcover copy last week; I previously only had a paperback copy). Then I read Chamber. I distinctly remember finding the backstory for Ron's arachnophobia interesting. From then on, I read the books in order, getting Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows on release day with my grandpa, who was also a fan of the series. I was so excited for Deathly Hallows that when I got it, I stayed up through the night to finish it just a day after I had bought it, which was quite an accomplishment for eleven-year-old me. I also went and saw all of the movies from Prisoner on with my family as soon as I could, though it was usually not on release day. I'm currently in a state of hype for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, especially because it stars the voice actor for a certain engine in the upcoming Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure.
With this series, like many others (including Thomas), I have a lot of difficulty choosing a favorite character. So far, I have a top 4, with all four characters constantly changing places depending on how I feel about them at the moment.
In the current order: Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, and Hermione Granger. I'm trying to narrow it down to one, but I'm too indecisive.
I don't really think that I can adequately describe how I feel about the series, beyond that I think it is absolutely fantastic. It is one of my two "default" fandoms (the fandoms that I fall back to focusing on when I'm not obsessing over something else), alongside Thomas.
Oh, and to add to the discussion that preceded this post, I would also like to be in Ravenclaw, and it is likely where I would be sorted, given the emphasis on intelligence and creativity.
