Anything known yet about book 7? I heard a rumour somewhere that the book is to end with the word 'scar'. A possible reference to the scar on Harry's forehead?

I've read a rumour JK Rolling has confirmed that Cedric Diggory is to appear so whats to say that Dumbledore, Lilly and James won't appear?

You mean he's going to reappear as a ghost?

I thought, in "Order of the Phoenix, Nearly Headless Nick said that people become ghosts only if they choose to, but maybe Dumbledore might not choose to be a ghost.

I can't wait until Book 7 comes out. I suppose it'll be out around 2007/8, if we're lucky.

Any ideas for a name yet for Book 7?
I could be 'The Dark Lord!'

pathetic...i'm just pathetic. i STILL haven't read the sixth book. one day, i was talking with some friends about the "new" harry potter book. me and my absent-minded self automatically thought about the FIFTH book. They said, "and you know who dies."
well, if any of you are like my english teacher, then i won't reveal names for anyone who hasn't read either book yet, but those of you who have read it, know who i'm talking about.
my mind went to the fifth book, and i tried protesting that he does not die, and harry only saw him fall through that thing (whatever it was). Then the person turns to me and says "Oh my God! Just get over it! --------is dead!" when he said that, i said "who?" it was at that moment i realized that we were talking about two totally different books, and that part was just spoiled for me.
i was really mad. but, now i don't care about book endings. you can tell me the ending and i STILL read the book. sometimes, i read the ending first.
if anyone doesn't mind, could you send me a pm telling me who that half-blood prince is? yeah...i'm pathetic, i know.

news on book seven: Rowling has confirmed that two characters will die off in it.
and POSSIBLE SPOILIER: rowling's thought on Harry and the seventh book: “I have never been tempted to kill him off before the final because I’ve always planned seven books, and I want to finish on seven books,” Rowling said Monday on TV here.

Something tells me that it's going to happen to one of Ron's brothers.

Killing Harry off is lame in my opinion. No Matrix ending please.
I reckon Snape and Malfoy could be the ones to die. Snape could break his Unbreakable Vow and Voldemort could kill Malfoy.
I would be surprised if Voldemort doesn't die.
I've read that Harry will get in contact with Sirius Black.

I couldn't care less if Simpleton Snape (yes, that's my nickname for the scum, based off a song I once made up about him) or Draco Malfoy. But if it's Ron or Hermione, then not only will Harry be left friendless, but all beautiful thoughts of Emma Watson will be erased from my mind. She's a pretty girl, she is.

I believe that Peter Pettigrew might die, but not as a villian. My guess is that he is killed by Voldemort when he finally defected to the other side to protect Harry.
I also think that Lupin or Hagrid may be likely to die in the seventh book.

I've just thought. JK has hinted it's a popular character that dies as she doesn't want hate mail. So that rules out Snape and Malfoy then.
Alot of people reckon Harry will die. JK doesn't want anyone else to write about Harry Potter but even if she does kill off Harry what's there stopping other people writing a prequel?
Lupin or Hagrid are good guesses. Robbie Coltrane already knows whats going to happen to Hagrid.

And I quote from "Prisoner of Azkaban" Near the end while in Dumbledore's office:
"One day you will be very glad you saved Pettigrew's life"
I have a feeling that's going to be a key factor in the next book.

even if she does kill off Harry what's there stopping other people writing a prequel? The copyright laws, for a start. I doubt the dead character will be Harry. How about Hagrid?

Authors aren't country bumpkins exploited by the mean city slickers in the publishing houses, if anyone else tried to write a Harry Potter book against J K Rowling's wishes, her agent would be there with a phalanx of lawyers.

DON'T READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVEN'T READ HALF BLOOD PRINCE According to this article Dumbledore is definetly dead. I was starting to think that his death was definetly faked. Why? Well The all mighty Voldemort can't attack/kill Dumbledore and it doesn't make sense that a wizard less powerful than him kills Dumbledore. It was stated in the first book that Voldemort can't attack Hogwarts if Dumbledore is around. Link to article www.hpana.com/news.19531.html

Just a thought. Harry found the fake locket horcrux, but look at pg. 112 of "Order of the Phoenix...
"A heavy locket that none of them could open"
I'll let you draw your conclusions...
