Some original "Zyu2" footage has been uploaded to Youtube, by one of the creators, Jeff Pruitt.
A couple of monsters from the "Zyu2" period are absent, but it's so interesting to see what was originally used aside from just cutting out the original Megazord; too much dialogue, excessive use of weapons and so forth.

I wonder if it is me, I think I remember hearing Red Hot Chili Peppers High Ground in the first Power Rangers movie.

So, the latest Super Sentai is out. ToQger, as it is spelled (Because poor literacy is kewl) is train themed and HILLARIOUS!
In addition, the next Power Rangers is skipping over Go-Busters and going straight to Kyoruger. It will be called Dino Charger.

In addition, the next Power Rangers is skipping over Go-Busters and going straight to Kyoruger. It will be called Dino Charger. I have seen the first episode of Super Megaforce, and part of the second, but they've left me kinda cold. StarTodd and I were / are overwhelmed by the awesomeness of Gokaiger, and to be honest, they'll struggle to replicate how good that series was on it's own merits. Totally believing the hype of Super Sentai now - watching Zyuranger and Dairanger subbed and lamenting the fact that the Sentai footage butchered to make MMPR was so much better! As for ToQger, I love it so far. Two episodes in, and I'm hooked - the Shadow Line storyline is something that really intrigues me, the way they're developing this memory loss thing and trying to account for the lost years of the heroes, and above all else - Ticket. From the minute he opened his mouth and asked Right if he was a moron, I was hooked. Comic relief at it's finest, says what he thinks and to hell with the consequences. I'm totally buying whatever merchandise comes out with him as a part of it - he's awesome in every way possible. Haven't seen Kyoruger, but have heard good things. Saw the team-up movie Go-Busters did with Gokaiger, and wasn't entirely impressed with them as a team. It wouldn't have worked for the west, I'm glad they're putting it to one side - but wonder what they'll end up doing when this Go-Buster mecha train becomes part of the ToQger series - Saban need to account for it somehow if they get a 2017 to 2018 deal with Nickelodeon...

Sentai vs Power Rangers tends to be a wobbly affair at best. A lot of seasons tend to be more or less equal: MMPR1 isn't that bad compared to Zyuranger. MMPR3 isn't that bad next to Kakuranger Time/Wild force are Time/Gao ranger and so on.
The more expensive seasons RPM & Lost Galaxy tend to better adaptations despite being different to the Sentai.
Then you have the brown notes. MMPR2. Turbo (1st half). Megaforce. Operation Overdrive. ( I like Overdrive but it's no Boukenger)

Seems I was summoned here, so better have a say:- 1)MMPR/Rangers [i.e. Western stuff] vs Sentai [Japan]: My GOD the amount of butchery that goes into it to make a Western series! And the writing the West employs makes what could be brilliant, it just becomes cheesy. 2)I'm not really a sentai/MMPR fan - as I grew up, I sorta grew out of it save for SPD. However, Gokaiger, in pure, unadulterated, original-Japanese form, had me gripped from the beginning. It's Power Rangers! Okay? But It's PIRATES! Show me the money!A PIRATE MEGAZORD For chris'sake! Holy Joe, this I gotta see! And the 'Rangers' don't have doofy costumes - infact, they're pretty classy - pirate doubloons, and flintlock pistol and cutlass weapons! Holy God. Best. Rangers. Ever. And the 'rangers' aren;t your typical 'warriors of light and hope' or 'chosen by Zordon because they are brave'. No, the Gokai team are a real bunch of greedy, treasure-obsessed, defiant mavericks. The reason they start the war with the Empire, saving Earth being a "bonus"? Because the Zangyacks ruined their curry dinner. Damn straight reason to fight back, if you ask me. They're flawed. They grow up over the course of the series, but they're still defiant by the end of it. So if there's ever one sentai you have to see, it's Gokaiger. Ignore Super Megaforce - they've butchered Gokaiger horribly. "Super Mega" powers, my tails. The new series I need to see an episode or two of, but I will confess I'm wary - I'm more of a cynic. Then again, a different Japanese 80s show currently has my attention as it is far darker, more 'lone ranger' and far less cheesy.

If you only see one Gokaiger related thing (Or indeed, any sentai related thing ever) its the 199 Hero War. 35 Ranger Teams.
I should note, there are times when the western versions are better than their Sentai counterparts. RPM, anyone?

Yesterday Saban Brands announced that they were beginning their own Movie Distribution wing... Now they've just announced a reboot film of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. As a loyal and dedicated fan of the series for the full twenty year run, wavering twice during the Turbo and Jungle Fury periods of the show, I'm of mixed feelings over what direction this could take. For me, the characters are iconic, the actors are the only ones who could play the characters properly - I don't know how I'd feel about seeing reimaginations of Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, Kimberly and Tommy. However, I do think that rejigging the original TV Series storylines, darkening them and making it an Avengers-style thing would be awesome... but in the Neo-Saban era of the show - should we be expecting much? variety.com/2014/film/news/lionsgate-sets-power-rangers-movie-1201174102/

Really? 199 movie sitting there doing nothing and two teams to adapt? Well, they simply can't use it because they made the dumb stupid decision to make Gokaiger upgrades for Megaforce I watched all of Gokaiger and watched it again recently and then watched some of power rangers, and it sort of offended me in how it doesn't even attempt to explain things. Especially since Gokaiger was an epic series in my eyes.

Gokaiger was epic. That I give you.
You can adapt that movie with some work, though. Introduce the Black Cross King earlier. In original spliced footage have him grab the Goseiger Ranger Keys & turn them into Ranger Puppets. Use the resulting two fights. Reshoot to only make the gokaiger rangers disappear.
Original fight footage of the combined combatant. It blows itself up.
Have one of the new teams fight the goseiger puppets & reclaim the keys.
Film spliced side of battle with Gobuster, Megaforce & Kyuryuger. Film new footage for the new teams fighting other ranger puppets. Megaforce keep switching for a few scenes of individual team fights. New Megazord fight with Black Cross King & possibly MMPR Green.
Big ask but more than capable on a movie budget.

Its kind of similar about my thoughts for a new Dad's Army film that I posted sometime ago, the characters and actors are iconic and you can't really have anyone else portray them (granted I'm sure it was said the same about 007 when Sean Connery packed that in, and it may happen with Indiana Jones). Plus if there's one word with regards to films that I can't stand at present is 'reboot', continuation I don't mind. It would be great if the idea for a new MMPR films collaborated with the fan film of 'Zordon of Eltar' because that would have been interested (if done right, and of course knowing what kind of reception Prequels receive). Still... I'm going to give it a chance (just as I will with Star Wars Episode VII), as a loyal fan myself since the very get go of Power Rangers.

Has anyone ever imagined a more Mature and Bloody (apologises for swearing) style for Power Rangers, because this week I found which had been trending quite a bit about a really gritty though visually brill like the Dark Knight Trilogy Short Fan Film by Joseph Khan with Katee Sackhoff and James Vanderbeek:
YouTube Link:
I'd try and catch it while its on YouTube and even Vimeo, because I reckon Saban may be pushing to have it removed from the internet as apparently Khan is quite renowned in Hollywood.
I've had my view about it upon seeing it, and I thought it was So-So. To an extent it looks like a Transformers movie, but at the same time the grittiness does work on the lines of The Dark Knight Trilogy. However you could lesson off on the blood and swearing, because then it just looks like the rebooted TV Series of Battlestar Galactica.
Speaking of which, I did like Katee Sackhoff in her role. Visually it looks good, but the narrative structure seems like Man Of Steel with the constant flashbacks, however I did like it (but probably not to see over and over again). I even heard Jason David Frank himself give his view about it on his facebook page, to which he even stated that he was approached about doing it - but he does makes some valid pointers about his view regarding this Fan Film. But see what you think.

Katee Sackoff is awesome. This short film is neat to watch and pretty much looks like a clip from any generic popcorn movie these days. I don't feel everything needs to get grimdarked and edgier. I felt that went completely against the Ninja Turtles and I feel the same way about Power Rangers. I'm cool with blood, guts, bad language, and stuff like that but I don't watch Power Rangers for that. I watch it for the escapism.
I would like to see the actual 2016 movie if it actually happens be more mature and something different from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers but I don't need it to be really dark and two hours of Megan Fox in spandex. I would like to see something more along the lines of the Marvel Popcorn Flicks like Thor, The Avengers, and even Guardians of the Galaxy which certainly have their dark moments and certainly are popcorn flicks but also are very fun ones to watch balanced by lots of funny lines and some heart. I'm glad X-men First Class and Thor alums are working on it.

I used to be rather obsessed with Power Rangers as a kid, along with shows like Digimon, Beast Wars/Machines, Spider-man and Batman. However, I'm afraid the franchise has been around too long and I think I should have stopped watching it after either Time Force or Wild Force. Sorry.

Do they have Power Rangers on Netflix in the UK? Has Dino Charge started airing there? Just wondering...
