www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/802388 Extended, or Director's Cut of "The Polar Special", with a further 10 minutes of footage, and it's on Blu-Ray too, the first Top Gear release of its kind I believe. Personally, I think they should have gone all out and had another 20 minutes of footage, or at least more around the 15 mark. But then, maybe there was nothing else worth showing, but on the other hand, methinks there may have been a lot more that could have been put in.

Does anyone know where I can get a DVD copy of the episode this clip came from? It's the bit when they blew cars off the runway using 747 engines.

well Jarrah White, that clip is featured on the Top Gear: Revved Up DVD (it's got highlights from episodes from season 3 - 4 or 5) I'm not sure where to get a DVD copy of the episode, sorry.

JB always has most of the Top Gear discs in stock, Jarrah. I'd suggest trying them. Disc is a bit harder to get singular now though, as it's one of the older ones, and I more often see it in one of the 3-disc sets. Still, worth a try. Otherwise, try ordering from EzyDVD online, if you're able to. www.ezydvd.com

Has anyone heard of the next Top Gear race? It was filmed on April 25th. The trio will race from London to Edinburgh and they are not aloud to use the Motorways. A-Roads all the way. May will be in a Jaguar XK120, Hammond on a Vincent Black Shadow and Clarkson shall be on... How awesome is that!?

So far, I've heard report for 3 different episodes from the next series of Top Gear. Each one is spoilerificated for those who don't want TG-13 spoiled. Also seeming to be the debut of the 13th series, the car vs. bike vs. steam train [Tornado] is the most reported episode. Looks to be pretty good An episode that is supposedly revolved around those who have just passed their driving test. That'll be teens around my age then! [Hopefully I'm to start driving lessons soon] Reports suggest a camping trip may be involved. A gold Volvo Estate has been seen, and I've seen a picture of Hammond next to it with a 70's moustache! Another race! Hammond and May vs. a letter, semmingly. And by that I mean a first class postal letter. I'm reasonably sure a silver sports car [not sure what type] and a boat/yacht are involved It's said to return next week, 21st June. EDIT: New Top Gear trailer Nicholas.

Lol, I don't think he is really the Stig. They sort've made a reference to it being a joke at the end when they showed footage of Schumacher 'failing' a lap in the resonably priced car and Clarkson commenting at the end that 'I don't think he is really the Stig'. Plus Stiggy and Schumacher were both listed seperately on the credit reel. The Stig legend continues! And whilst we're on the subject, what an episode tonight! That challenge probably has to be the best one they've done since the first amphibious car challenge! Last series was disappointing for challenges I felt, so I'm chuffed to beans . The best show on the BBC is back, and how it is not on BBC 1 I do not know...still, this unappreciation adds to the beauty of the show I suppose .

Had it been 1949, Tornado would be going faster than 75mph, and all those dual carriageways would not have been there. Mind you, it is a show about cars :/

I think she would have won if it hadn't been for the commuter train in front of her!

The "Great North Road" is a historic route that runs through as the A1000 in Herts before essentially losing classification and slicing through Stamford, Grantham, Doncaster, etc. but it should be really easy tracking down the route on a map. Supposedly I assume they bent the rules to broaden the competiton against the Tornado. The rest of the show was excellent, James May triumphing once again and feeding a pint to a soot faced and worn out Jeremy. I'm quite adamant the Stig wasn't Schumacher all along either but ramming down the camera looked a bit deliberate IMHO.

*Blows dust off thread and inadvertantly nearly suffocates from it*
I've got a question regarding the ending of TopGear on the 2nd August 2009 (last of the current series) :
What exactly was the ending about? Did he mean that Aston Martin had gone into liquidation or what? I'm confused, and it normally takes quite a lot to confuse me.
If anyone has the foggiest idea of what it was all about, please post something because baffled, I am.

Yeah, I wasn't quite sure what was up with that ending either. Apparently the Internet forums had been debating whether it was the end for Top Gear, but I think there has been a statement from an insider with the show to say its coming back in November.

Apparently it was just an espeically conspicuous ending to a series, it is deinfatly returning in novemeber. In fact if you watch the episode again, Clarkson mentions that it's coming back at least twice.

If that's the case that TopGear isn't finishing for good, does that mean that it's the end of Aston Martin or something?

It's more a tribute to powerful cars. I can't remember exactly what was said, but Clarkson was talking about how in the future, cars like the Aston Martin V12 Vantage may not be made anymore due to environmental concerns, the economy, the war on speed etc.
Understandable why he'd be saddened by that, really.

^Think you hit the nail on the head, there.
I do think this environmentalism thing is getting way out of hand. Case-in-point: the Cash-for-clunkers is such an inflationatory measure, that I'm not certain it's worth paying taxes anymore. I mean, it's like throwing money into a hole.

It seems Top Gear will be back on our screens this Sunday [14/11/2009]. It would appear Clarkson, Hammond and May are going to Romania in search of a renouned mountain road in 3 sports cars.
Also, it seems the show has been moved to the 9 o'clock slot, so we can expect some more explicit material from the trio!
