I am a huge fan of Top Gear and love the banter that goes on between the hosts and also love seeing the crazy cars and some of the stunts that they do.
Alas when I awoke and heard of Richard Hammond's accident I've been rather, well upset. He is one of the best presenters and it came as a shock to hear about the crash.
Like Steve Irwin's death, it always amazes me why well liked people seem to be the ones on the thin end of the stick.
Any way to keep this on topic talk about Top Gear and cars here.

I absolutely love Top Gear. The presenters are absolute loons (In a good way, mind), and the challenges they embark on often have me in a fit of hysterics! Brill stuff.
Yes, the news of Richard Hammond's crash came as a shock to me. A sad time, but we can only hope that he does get better.

I too love Top Gear. It's just the madness of it all. Who sane person could not laugh at that car/boat challenge? That my friends is true comedy ;D. Aye, tis' sad news about Hammond. Hope he makes it, be a shame to lose him . BTW, heard some people talking in school that James May has quit the show, is this true?

I too love Top Gear. As far as entertainment goes, this one really pushes the boundries. Sure it's contraversial, but any criticisms they make arn't to be taken seriously.
It's a shame about Hammond. I hope he'll pull through, even with doctors confidence I don't feel fully reassured.
James May quitting? Who said that? I hope he doesn't anyway.

My best wishes to Richard Hammond. The crash was truely a freak accident, and my thoughts are with him and his family tonight.
I don't think James May is quitting, but for obvious reasons, no transmisson dates for the new series of Top Gear have been confirmed as yet.

Oh bloody hell... I read about Richard's crash a few days ago on SMH. He was first shown over here as the host of Brainiac (aka Pommy Mythbusters) before Top Gear was shown. Funny bugger in that show too. I'm not sure if we're getting the current TG series (I think it's 2004 or something at the moment), but it is a bloody funny show. ;D I wonder if James May is related to Brian...certainly has the hair for it... And WHO IS THE STIG?

After trying to find out who The Stig is, all I can say is.......? Dunno! I know the last Stig was an ex-F1 racing car tester but not a racing driver as such though he had raced in other racing series. Apparently the show is/was due to be aired about October/November time. In recent railway magazines there have been pictures of a Class 31 loco being smashed into a people carrier on a level crossing to warn motorists of the danger of jumping crossing lights etc. The shots were filmed by the crews of Top Gear.

I was really shocked when I heard about Richard crash and Ii never thought he would have an accident like that. But I have news. He might make a full recovery. I heard it on the news today on the radio. Apparantly the parachutes didn't work and he wasn't being slowed down. My Mum saw this on the news yesterday and I can only remember what I was told.

Just seen the newspapers this morning and apparently he walked to the toilet and back. Jeremy Clarkson was there at the time. RH opened his eyes, sat up right, asked what had happened and then walked off to the loo. Great news!

That is awesome. Great to hear. ;D That's the Stig, seriously, don't believe me?, type in Perry McCarthy into a search engine and you'll find out. Perry McCarthy, eh? I believe he was with the Andrea Moda team for the 1992 F1 season - a team which did not qualify for any races all year. Good find Ash. Although I prefer the 'Mark Webber' explanation after Jeremy gave him a T-shirt which said "I AM THE STIG" on it.

I watched this interview last night. Considering what happened, the Hamster looked well, and engaged Jonathon Ross with his quick sense of humor.
