He's described as an "alien-hunter-cum-TV-presenter". I'll eat Paddy Ashdown's hat if aliens turn up for real.

In Other Fireman Sam news I've just heard
{Spoiler}Bella Lasagne returns in a new episode. Great to hear that she's come back as the show didn't feel the same without her. Every other classic character was there but she was the only one left out. Now the other question is what is her role as I think there's already a café owned by Sarah and James's parents

I could never understand why they removed the character in the first place. It sounds like she's still involved with pizza delivery business according to this.

Spoiler I'm assuming Bella was axed in favour of Sara and James's parents who own the café and they didn't want two characters owing a café. That's what I thought.
Maybe Bella was brought back by popular demand. It does remind me when Sir Handle returned after a long period of absence.

There's a new Fireman Sam movie out this year. firemansam.wikia.com/wiki/Unnamed_2018_SpecialI have to say it sounds alot like the plot to the Postman Pat movie. Especially when Fame looks set to ruin Sam's life and his friendships with the Pontypandy townsfolk. That's what the Postman Pat movie did. Hopefully we won't get a villain who tries to commit world domination through the fire brigade and uses robot versions of Sam to achieve it.

It looks like this popular show is coming to an end after 8 years. It's a shame a staple of British children's TV has come to an end. I've already expressed my thoughts elsewhere, but I wonder what HiT/Mattel is going to fill in its place? They've lost a show that was once their second popular brand. I wonder whether a brand-new children's show is on the cards?

There was a gap of, what, ten (ish?) years between the fourth and fifth series. I suspect Sam has a high chance of making an eventual return. If he doesn't, well, nothing lasts forever. And he had an extremely good innings.

This is one of those outdated arguments that comes up in every slow news week in the same manner as "Henry and the Tunnel" or "there aren't enough female trains" etc.
I'll try and be fair on the issue. I can see the point in that the word 'Fireman' wouldn't be the correct terminology nowadays. But I don't see anything offensive about the term. The show has two competent female characters in it so I can’t imagine young girls being discouraged from firefighting solely because of the show’s title. On top of which, the character has done so much to educate children about fire safety that I really don't see why the fire service would want to dissasociate themselves from him
I’m sure kids can identify with these characters more than their replacements; three talking fire extinguishers! A) Fire extinguishers can only handle small fires, Sam and Co can tackle seemingly anything; B) what kind of kid wants a fire extinguisher toy, they’re like characters from a school curriculum program, kids are not going to relate to them as much as they can to human firefighters; and C) I know I'm not the first person to point it out but it’s funny they say they’re using these new characters to promote a more inclusive image of the fire service, but there’s still more male characters than female (2 vs. 1). ___
It's quite the coincidence it came up this week though, as over the last week or so I set myself the challenge of watching all four Fireman Sam DVD movies for the first time. I've been away from the show too long and don't think I could stomach six seasons worth of the CGI episodes, but the movies seemed an interesting exercise.
I think Thomas lent itself better to the film medium; railways go to places and this allows Thomas to go on new adventures to new locations on Sodor, while Sam is more or less confined to Pontypandy. So I’m not sure what else Sam could’ve done with the film format, save for some God-awful spin-off where he gets called to fight fires around the world.
Also, with Thomas, the TV stories are simple while the movies allow for more scope. FS is a fairly action-heavy show already, and the films extend the adventures but (for the most part) I wouldn’t say they get much more dark or dramatic than the regular episodes. No stories about serial arsonists here (mind you, the villain in the fourth film tries to kill Sam several times...)
At times, they felt really elongated like the early Thomas films, as if struggling to pad out the hour. The first film (Great Fire of Pontypandy) was simple but still fairly enjoyable with nice story arcs for the characters over the film. The second (Heroes of the Storm) was harmless enough but seemed more about showcasing the new buildings/vehicles/firefighters than strong storytelling. The third film (Alien Alert), an hour of everyone obsessing with alien mysteries, was really pushing it in regards to staying true to the series roots.
The fourth (Set for Action), with Sam starring in a Hollywood movie, was the surprise favourite by some distance. Fit the hour perfectly, Sam's emotional journey felt natural with everything we know about his character, and while the new animation company had to work with the bargain-basement renders of the previous team, they tried to liven things up a bit, especially in the big disaster scene in the film's climax. If the show truly has been cancelled then at least they went out on a fairly strong note.

One thing about the above link that caught my eye. Is that it look like it's going to be told through the eyes of Sarah and Mandy. That reminds me of Thomas being the narrator of Big World Big Adventures. Seems like this is how Mattel are going to handle their Kids shows.

I got the impression the "told through the eyes of Sarah and Mandy" thing was referring to separate web shorts that will be going up on the Fireman Sam YT channel, not the regular series. Could be wrong though, as the press release doesn't make it very clear.

Seems like that news back in October last year was merely about the HW stepping down from her position as opposed to jumping to conclusions that the TV series was ending. Silly me for thinking the latter! Very pleased to see the show hasn't quavered since that recent baffling news was heard on the grapevine. Think we can truly say, Fireman Sam is back!

Well Well Well, a policeman who is Nurse Flood's Brother.... Maybe he and Mandy can chuck Master Norman Price in the slammer together Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha... But about Fireman Sam, one thing that i both like and dislike in the latest seasons is that Sam is sick and tired of all the thing that all the residents especially Norman get up to, Two examples from Blast from the past in the scene where Norman man makes the rehearsal all about him, in earlier CGI episodes Sam would have playfully shook his head and smiled at Norman. Now he Puts his fingers on his nose and is frustrated. At the end of the episode Sam does a list off of all the things that have happened over the CGI series. In conclusion I like this because it gives the characters more dimension (and that includes the The twins and Mandy being Peeved off at Norman as well), I don't like it because i like to see the good in Norman and i want him to be accepted (yes i know this is a fictional character in a preschool show) sorry to be rude but that's my Two cents

And here I thought the only law in Pontypandy was the fire service. Either that or the fire service was the one running Pontypandy in some horrible dictatorship (words of a TV Tropes user, not mine).

I know it's a big ask and proobly won't happen but you know that unmaed scientist from Rise of Norman Man? Wouldn't it be good if it was Norman's dad. It's never been revealed what happend to him. I would like to know. To me that's one of the biggest mysteries in Fireman Sam and no I don't buy that Fireman Sam is Norman's Dad. That's a popular myth.
