Of course, the film could go through many changes during production, but they've outlined the storyline in fair detail in the press release and I can't say I'm too enamoured with what I've read. The whole talent content/becoming famous aspect sounds incredibly clichéd and tired. Not to mention the fact that one of the writers was behind the critically-panned SpiceWorld movie, which should set alarm bells ringing...! To say we know even less about the Thomas feature film, at least there's promise there with the suggestion it might actually distance itself from the TV show and cater to an older audience.
Here's an interesting, though rather depressing, article I found a while ago. Much like the Reverend Wilbert, it seems John Cunliffe was unhappy with the merchandising machine Pat eventually became - and this dates back to 1994! www.nickdavies.net/1994/02/01/the-selling-of-postman-pat/

Here's the synopsis for the movie www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=82257Hmmm. I've got the feeling we might see Pat's selfish side which will be a bit odd for me as Pat seems like a very nice guy.

How can they do that to him?! POSTMAN PAT BELONGS TO JOHN CUNLIFFE!! It has done right from the off! Firstly, Postman Pat is a 90s show, such that it has been one of my all-time favourites! Secondly, Pat has always been decent and homely, as Mr Cunliffe has always intended, and I can't imagine that he'd simply turn to show-biz! If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't even pick up the phone! I bet little kids nowadays would follow his example, JUST BECAUSE THEY THINK TV IS ALWAYS RIGHT! It's things like this that makes me want to yell into an empty room, or even out of the window!

Whats wrong with a bit of a change though? Even the most nicest and kindest of people like Pat can turn bitter and mean with show biz and stress. This could be a good movie teaching children the lesson of show biz and what it can do to even the best of people changing them. We all know Pat;'s gonna learn his lesson in the end of the movie and everything goes good but it will be interesting to see Pat go through an attitude change and a darker spin to the series like the new Thomas film for 2014. All I'm saying is lets not judge it to harshly.

According to a radio interview this week, David Tennant has stated that he and Rupert will both be voicing dubious (dodgy) characters in the film. He couldn't say what the name of his character was as he wasn't allowed to. My Mum heard the radio interview and told me about it this morning.

Shame Ken Barrie has left the series. I wonder what his reasons were. I wish him all the best becuase he has done alot for the series.
This isn't the first article that I've read where the show has been compared to a soap opera. I really don't see the connection other than a large cast. It's not like they have been affairs and scandal happening

My guesses on Ken's departure from the show was probebly retirement. As OJ stated, Ken has done wonders for the show since it was first broadcasted giving Pat and his their cheerful voices, especially Granny Dryden and singing all the great songs Brian Daly composed for the show. I wish Ken Barrie all the best and to thank him for all the years he has done for the show.

I was hoping Ken Barrie would have some part in the movie but it looks unlikely. I wonder of this new series is a showcase series for the movie. I'm going to assume that the movie and the series will be alot different considering that they've got a famous faces voicing the characters.

It seems that the new Movie for Postman Pat has been rescheduled for Winter 2013 as David Tennent inform us on his news blog. tennantnews.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/rescheduled-release-date-for-postman.html#!/2013/03/rescheduled-release-date-for-postman.html It appears that Prince Charles got a sneek peek at the film whilst visiting the studio aswell as a description of what the opening sequence is going to be like.

I was looking around the net for the trailer but none are available and now I know why. Also I have heard rumours of who Rupert Grint is going to voice Spoiler A contestent in the reality competition called Josh By the way is it a good sign for films to have a rescheduled release date? I know it's a bad sign when it has to be edited as we have all seen in the past

News of the movie is set to be pushed back for a 2014 release. tennantnews.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/postman-pat-movie-to-be-released-in-may.htmlMeanwhile... From what Universal UK is currently providing for Christmas, i'll admit it's good to see this again ten years after it's first release, but I can't understand why this has been tagged as "Classic" when it's barley classic material at all, rather misleading advertising for those who've seen the real classic series.

Meh, it's very subjective, but I reckon you can just about get away with labelling something as "classic" after a decade. I mean, I tend to consider Series 6 and 7 part of classic TTTE now. The stories featured are much gentler and closer in tone to old school Pat when compared with the more recent (and awful) SDS incarnation anyway. I've read complaints about misleading cover art on other Postman Pat releases, so I expect Classic Media just wanted to clarify that this isn't the newest stuff.

According to Chris, the entire series has been available on DVD for the last two years but only in the Spanish region, which feature both an English and Spanish audio option. But now seeing these covers recently unveiled give us no doubt, the wait is finally over Following an email from afew years back, Classic Media said they had no plans of ever releasing the original series despite keeping them in the archives, "due to the quailty of the programming" they said, but I guess following the series limited availability they saw the light, and the high demand.
