I swear, this track is an almost uncanny mix of Toby's and Duncan's themes.

A recent find I spotted regarding one of the props used in the Post Office:

I'm just curious. Has anyone ever compiled a list of the library sound effects used in the original series? We know most of the vehicle sounds and know that some of the later series had custom sounds made, but I'm curious on sounds for ambience or misc. Would be interesting to maybe make up a list of most of the sounds that are easy to source on the BBC's sound effects library that were used.

Might as well share what I know of. All of these are from the BBC sound effects archive... {Spoiler} 3 wooden door creaks (89B) (0:13) - Various episodes. Fairly self explanatory!
Car skid, crash - 1967 (84D) (0:12) - The crash bit was cut out, but pretty sure the skidding part was used during Pat's "hot driving" sequence in Pat Takes A Message.
Crash of piano - 1968 (7H, reprocessed) (0:14) - Small portions of it used during the crashes into Ted's workshop (Takes A Message) and Alf's barn (Goes Sledging).
Heavy winch operated quickly, start, stop (89E) (0:15) - Peter Fogg's log loader in Windy Day.
High speed telephone gibberish - 1967 (7E, reprocessed) - Elsie Timms' voice on the phone in Takes A Message. More info here if you're curious about what's actually being said.
Rope pulley operated, start, stop (89E) (0:22) - Despite the name, used for the sound of the pedals when Pat borrows Miss Hubbard's bike in Takes A Message.
Sawing tree and crash - 1967 (7C, reprocessed) (0:20) - Ted sawing wood in Letters on Ice. The crash part was unused.
Village church, single bell tolling, ringing ends (St.Margaret's, Horsmonden, Kent) - November 1966 (91C, reprocessed) (01:05) - Possibly used for the church bells in Foggy Day, but unsure if its an exact match.
Water dripping (with echo, reprocessed) - 1967 (7F, reprocessed) (01:08) - Heard inside the church during Pat's Rainy Day.
The van sound effects have been documented fairly well elsewhere, so I'll not include those here.
