Maybe there's a twist. After all, the last season had the Doctor and his companions landing in 'Big Brother', 'The Weakest Link' and 'What Not to Wear'...

New Earth was great.
They went to the year 5 Billion and 23.
David Tennant was awesome and Cassandra returned, next one is called, 'Tooth and Wolf.'

Yes, let it all out SH A very good ep I must say, and Old Iron, if you looked on the last page, you would've seen me post a link about the Doctor airing in the States...

Meh, it was watchable. I dunno, it seemed too formulaic. Then again, it was a Russell T. Davies ep, but even so. I mean, I have to say, I'm a bit miffed that the first planet other than Earth they go to is just...Earth. But New. And the resolution was just...pff. New eps seem to follow a formula. 1. Doctor and Rose go to somewhere that looks very nice on the surface. 2. Doctor discovers that all is not what it seems (Dun dun duhhhh). 3. Some sort of moral quandry. 4. Evil army! Run away! People will die! 5. What's this?! Super happy turn-the-tables time!
I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I saw an interesting episode which takes place in 1869 Cardiff. The Welsh accents weren't too bad, and the chap who played Charles Dickens was quite good. The ep wasn't too bad, but then, I haven't seen the original Doctor Who, so... has it actually jumped the shark yet?

The ep wasn't too bad, but then, I haven't seen the original Doctor Who, so... has it actually jumped the shark yet? A quick look at www.jumptheshark.com reveals that according to popular opinion, no, Doctor Who has not yet jumped the shark. But at times it's been getting dangerously close to the ramp. Oh, and go check out the classic series. 'Genesis of the Daleks' was released on DVD recently, go rent it and see what you think. Or get 'The Mind Robber' or something.

3. Some sort of moral quandry. Hmm, that seems to happen in some other sci-fi shows too where they become metaphors for real life eg. Star Trek: The Next Generation ep "Force of Nature" where some scientists try to prove the warp drive is damaging the fabric of space, which to some people was a metaphor that gas power may be damaging the environment (the ep in question however is regarded as nonsense by a number of Trek fans). Anyway, I got to see New Earth in Holland because the BBC's signal spills over, wahoo! I quite liked it, it was, erm, good to see Cassandra finally accept death. I hope we'll see the Face of Boe soon hopefully this comming season (or next year). BTW, has anyone seen the Docotr Who website, there's something about a "Help Mickey" game, but it appears to be inaccessible. It isn't even on the main games page. One last thing, apparently, the word "Torchwood" is going to be this seasons 'arc-word' (like "Bad Wolf" was last year). Did anyone pick up a Torchwood reference?

I liked the ep, don't get me wrong, but-
SPOILER
I thought the solution to the problem was a little too easy. I mean, "mix every cure there is together and spray it at them and they magically get better, all their acne clears up and everything"... That's not how disease works. And you can't just infect someone with "everything" for the same reason- some sickness can't survive in the presence of others.
Also, I thought humanity circa the year 5 billion was a bit rubbish. Look at the rate at which species evolve and technology advances. Humanity should be unrecognisable. I think I'd have preferred it if the whole "end of the world" time period was moved forward a little.
Apart from these points, I rather enjoyed it. I just hope it's not going to go too much into the whole "will they won't they" romantic aspect, those things always cause shark-jumping. Looking forward to the next episode, just so long as it's not a retread of 'The Unquiet Dead'.

Anyone seen this afternoon's Blue Peter and how they're offering children a prize if they find a lost Doctor Who episode?
Trouble is though, does anyone actually expect a child to find a long lost Doctor Who episode? Anyway, what does everyone else think. I could be being a skeptic.

Are the folks at Blue Peter so desperate to see that Doctor Who episode that they can't be bothered to find it themselves?

I think they mean the very old ones. If they find them they might release them on video. Apparently there's a special prize/award to whoever finds them. For those who are fans of the 80's Mr Men series, Pauline Collins will be in the next Dr Who episode as Queen Victoria.

The prize is going to be a life size Dalek as used on the show. I wasn't refferring to a single ep, they were going to give a prize if they found ANY of the missing Doctor Who episodes (I hear that the ones missing are mostly from the 1st and 2nd doctor eras). EDIT: I found a link to the competition on the BBC's website- www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2006/04/20/31423.shtml
