Quick question to all the Brits out there on SiF: I want to study abroad in the UK next spring. I'm a double major in Theater and History. I'm currently looking at: York (The National Railway Museum does figure a bit in my decision ), Bristol, East Anglia, Sussex/Wessex/Essex (I forget which one), and maybe Edinburgh (Partially 'cause I really love the Fringe festival). Are there any other Unis I should be looking at? If one of you go there, how is their theater department? Do they do any Radio Drama there? Thanks so much.

I found out my grades for last semester not too long ago.
Keyboarding - F (I did all the work, but my teacher still gave me grief because I tend to key things differently than how she expects)
Medical Terminology - B (All the tutoring I had really paid off!)
Health Records Coding - C (Not too bad there!)

Not too shabby Aidan. Just because you don't have the fastest GWAM doesn't mean anything -- unless you're a hacker. Or a stenographer... Don't be a stenographer then.

I know how that is Aidan! I passed psychology (I don't know how it goes with music really) with a 70.1 If I got a D, my musical scholarship would have been pulled! Cannot let that happen!

Well, Monday was my first day back at school. I'm taking new courses this year. One of them is an Internet/networking course which I have on Mondays and Wednesdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my algebra days, but I'll hopefully pass this time around.

Hey guys! Tomorrow is the day I move into college for the first time, and I am SUPER nervous. Anybody got any tips for college life for me (stress, work, friends, and any other way survive)?

SRapi, I'm off to College for 2 years myself, then it's university the rest of the way, here's some pointers!
- Get used to KD for breakfast - Don't go nuts on girls, unless you have too - Get ready to party
Haha, just kidding(?). It'll be fine, try to make friends with dorm neighbors, that helps loads. I know from others experiences.

I just started my second year of college. I think it should be good, except for the fact that all the classes I wanted to take are in the morning. I take English 101; Accounting 101; Real Estate Law and Legal Aspects of Criminal Justice. I also joined the radio station (which I feel will be like a 5th class), I haven't SiFed in over a week. But yeah school sucks, my favourite day was in my senior year. I took a program through our BOCES and local Community College (where I now attend). That was awesome I got to spend a week with the district attorney, ride with cops (it was legal course, my area of study) and leave school for all this and go to college! The best day was when we were to do parking at the local RR museum when Thomas came. I was excused from school for the whole day, I ended up riding in Thomas and playing with model trains all day! College will be better. I was kind in a limbo between HS and College, but the fact that everything fell into place for me to skip school for Thomas and get college credit for it, was so overly awesome I still talk about day. My cousin is also an engineer for the host RR so I'm probably tortuing you. Sorry. But for those of you in school live with it, college will be better.

Two weeks ago, I started attending classes at Amarillo College with my goal being an Assosciates Degree in Radio/Television Broadcasting. I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm making new friends, and I'm learning alot.
I took a mandatory test first to see which Basic Classes I would have to take. According to the results, I'm good at Writing but need just a little help at Reading Comprehension and Algebra. The Algebra Class was full, since I registered kind of late, so I'm taking a class with a personal tutor for Reading Comprehension, and three classes in which I'm learing about Broadcasting, Radio & Television Production and The History of Film. The Reading Tutor told me last week that she thinks I've already learned enough to pass the final exam. That means that I may be able to be done with that class by next week! I'm really excited, since that means that I could take another class to help my degree until I take the Algebra class next semester.
My Radio & Television Production Teacher also helped me get a Part-Time Job that goes along with my Degree. I'll explain more about that in the 'Jobs' Thread.

I had to drop my networking course. My parents took a look at the material I was supposed to be covering, and they decided it would be too complicated for me to handle, especially with my disabilities. My advisor has made a similar mistake last time, and I'm not too sure, but I think I might have to go to a different school.

I don't know whether this counts as College and what have ya, but I thought I'd mention it in here as it's kind of one of those topics in someway. I have enroled to study two courses at the London Academy, both are evening courses and I'm hoping to have gained enough experience to get a job in media. One course is a 'Young Director' course which starts next thursday at 6.30pm - 9.00pm which lasts for two weeks. The second course is 'Film School' which takes place the following week after the 'Young Director' course finishes but the 'Film School' is half an hour longer but lasts for 8 weeks so it's finishing right bang on Christmas but on the 5th week of the 'Film School' course we will be going on location to film from 10.00am till 6.30pm and during that session we'll be editing. I'm really excited about doing these, and I would reccommend them to anyone whose living in London and who is interested in breaking into the Media Industry and can't afford say like 'Film School' at Ealing Studios: www.media-courses.com/

I've got some bad news.... I'm dropping out of college. I'm sick and tired of trying to find a path that'll be good for me only to find out that it's not working out at all. Even my parents are annoyed with my advisor. I do have a back-up plan, though. I've been thinking of getting involved in Showtimers, one of the local theatre companies.

Well, that's it, I'm officially a high school senior! My district was the last in the state to get out for the summer because of snow days...
And now, more drudgery at work for the summer :/
But, looking ahead, looking at several colleges, notably BC, Harvard, and Dartmouth. Not sure my grades will get me into the latter two, but one can always hope!
It promises to be a hectic and exciting autumn for me!

Since last december, I enrolled in a part time drama course from the NYT that I visit once a week. Now, the course is due to an end and I'm on the intensive parts. I'm sure the final exam will excite TTTE fans. As part of the final performance, the tutors asked us to explain what our favourite books were; and to bring them in to be photocopied. Most of these were our childhood books and (without giggling) I told them my favourite book was Troublesome Trucks. The reason why they were collecting the books is because they're planning to create a story using text collected from several books and stitching them up into one cohesive plot to be performed in front of an audience. I'm currently rehearsing a modern day version of Ashputtel (Cinderella), based on a kebab shop in inner London) but I'm unaware if this will go towards the final performance.
