Political correctness, oh how I hate it to no end. It takes the fun out of everything. Cartoons, tv shows, video games and various other sources of entertainment. I hate how the parents nowadays want nothing but political correctness or poisoned corruption I call it. Those who actually understand what's wrong with this are ignored to and shunned by society. Ah well, at least it's not as bad as taxes.

Is it why scools use collective responsibility when they know who did it? Are they scared of offending the guilty party?

No, it's psychology. If everyone knows who's responsible, but everyone gets punished for it, then everyone is essentially being made to suffer because of the actions of one person. The idea is that that one person will become unpopular. Quite devious, really.

In addition, however, the plan can sometimes backfire and everyone will sympathize with that person and in turn start "following" them. It's a delicate business.

Golly, there is just so much to be said about political correctness. So, I won't say it, because I bet that it's been said within these 6 pages of thread. I'll just say this: does it make any sense that it is no longer "PC" to call Native Americans, Native Americans, and they are instead called American Indians?

No. I thought it was the other way around because, well, American Indians aren't from India...

Yeah, seriously. If an "Indian American" is an American of Indian descent, wouldn't that make an "American Indian" a person of American descent in India? The term Native American means that you are a descendant of anyone who was here before European colonization. So therefore, I think I'll stick with calling them "Native Americans".

A lot of people on SiF think Emily replaced Duck due to PC.

There was a similar debate over the Washington Redskins - one argument was that if you had a team called "the blackskins", that would be unacceptable. It's a thorny one.

A lot of people on SiF think Emily replaced Duck due to PC. Wasn't it PC that delt with that because they thought Thomas was too sexist? Henace to why we have the whole Steam Team thing and more Female characters; I guess they couldn't handle the fact that they're were Female characters such as Daisy, Mavis and Elizabeth, and Annie and Clarabel. By the way, what does PC stand for? It is something to do with Parental.

Funnily enough, PC stands for Political Correctness. ...which was first coined way-back-when as a derisive "joke" about politicians who were trying to please everyone but failed miserably. Apparently people who DIDN'T get the joke thought "Hey, let's support this" and now we've come to hate them for it. PC was never a goal, it was a joke.

I have one word for Politicaly Correct, and I mean this heartfully. It's a load of Old [glow=blue,5,000]Koblers![/glow]You can't make a rule for every situation in the universe, you can't please everyone. People in life are inevitably offended by different things, deal with it I say. It's a constantly changing law, more and more corrections are added and it is getting silly, soon you won't be 'PC' unless you stay in your house and do nothing, because your hair style might offend someone, or your body might be in better shape than someone elses, so not letting them see you stops them getting offended, see, it's stupid! Real stories, teachers aren't alowed to have plastic toy pigs because it offends some people, teacher gets in trouble with law because she alowed a toy to be named Mohamed or something. I mean, seriously? YES Yeah, I hate PC when it goes extreem, there's some good in it, but not much. [glow=black,5,000]Wubbish![/glow]

Political correctness, as Knuckles said, is nothing but trying to please the masses. Boycotting the show won't work on the scale soccer moms (no offense ) say it will, because fans of the show will just sneak it when they aren't looking. They're forgetting Youtube too. People will keep watching it anyway, PC fans will get ticked and eventually give up.

Of course when it does come to Politicians, as Evan has already said they do try to please everyone but failed miserably: Gordon Brown being a prime example.
I know people "don't be so hard on him, he's doing his best" but I'm sorry but the man is as useless as Big B***dy Brother; well he's pi**ed my family off for starters with scrapping the 10p tax rate.
My Mother be could be earning about a £1000 more a week if the 10p tax rate wasn't scrapped so she's loosing out on a £1000s; and yes I'm probably guessing that some of your families are going through the similar thing (for UK users).
When we next have a Prime Minister election (And I hope someone calls soon not in 10 years time) I'd vote for the Conservatives (Depending whose leading them and how well they're doing in Parliament) perhaps they can make UK better than what it currently is (In my opinion).

teacher gets in trouble with law because she alowed a toy to be named Mohamed or something. I mean, seriously? YES I'm still waiting for the Sudanese to apologise! But of course, due to political correctness, they'll probably never have to.

Well, that's not about political correctness, that's about the laws against blasphemy in that country. And the reason they'll never have to apologise is more about diplomacy than anything else.
