"We've gotta do something! Clay's just been arrested, but how will we manage to free him?" said Aidan. No one could think of anything.
The others watched the black van drive away.
"What did they want Ryan for? I don't think he did anything wrong," said Casey Jones. An idea came to his mind, and he whispered it to the others. One by one, they all piled into a passenger train that had conveniently stopped at the station.
Their journey led them to a large jail with barbed wire fences and guard towers. After they got off the train, Ryan noticed some prison-guard uniforms nearby.
"Just slip into these," he told the others, "and we'll try to sneak in and save Clay." The others did as Ryan had said and soon they were off to help their friend out of jail.

However just before they were about to enter the facility, an odd looking person wearing glasses and green trousers holding a food container walked up to them.
"I heard that your friend Clay is locked up inside, I'm here to help." he said. This gave Ryan an idea. Upon entering he spoke to a security guard. "We have a visitor here for Clay Halford here." said Ryan in his police disguise. "Ah this way." replied the guard directing them to Clay's cell. "Mr Halford, here's a visitor for you with a gift." The gentleman opened the container in front of the gang and the guard revealing it to be a pizza. Just before the man gave Clay the pizza the guard broke in. "Stop right there! there must be an item inside the pizza! You must be trying to break him out!" Ryan, Casey and the others stood in fear while he handcuffed the visitor and confiscated the container.
As inspection, the guard took a few bites out of the pizza to look for the object and suddenly he began choking and queasy. "*Cough!* This pizza, it's poisoned! I must find the medical room fast! Here take the keys and don't let the prisoner out!" He then flung the keys towards Ryan and raced out of the corridor.
And without sparing a second to say anything comical, Clay and the visitor were broken free and they made a dart for the doors. After a lengthy run from the prison centre a few got their breath back. "You know I thought there was a file inside that pizza!" exclaimed Christopher. "That's what I wanted him to think!" sparked the visitor. "

Suddenly, they noticed someone else was missing. "Where's Shanedooiney?" wondered Aidan. "You don't think he's still...?" he broke off. The others gazed back at the large building they had narrowly escaped. They all let out a groan. "Now we have to save him too?!" they cried in unison. "That won't be necessary," said a voice from behind. They turned and found themselves face to face with noneother than Shanedooiney himself. "What's going on?" they demanded. "Well..." began Shanedooiney. "You see, I'm not much of a daredevil. When everyone went off to rescue Clay, I stayed behind and hid. I'm sorry, I'll try to help next time." The others stared. No one knew what to say. Finally, Ryan stepped forward.

"You nearly got us there Shanedooiney." replied Ryan "You know, our plan to free Clay took a slight turn thanks to our visitor." "Well to be honest I didn't know you lot were out here in police uniform." said the gentleman. "Anyway I haven't introduced myself yet, I'm Halstead, nice to meet you lot too." "That was a neat trick you had there Hal! What was in that pizza anyway?" asked Aidan. "Well the ingredients where all last minute; pepper, cheese, rabbit droppings, poppies, absinthe," Just before he finished Ryan interrupted. "We've no time to discuss food preparation!" he shouted "Now that Clay is out of prison, the boys in black could be back on our trail again!"
"Here you can borrow my OS map of Sodor." said Halstead "There should be a footpath from here heading south through the forest to Maithwaithe. If we pick up the pace, we should be safe from them for now." "Right let's go." finished Ryan as he begun to navigate the way.

At Maithwaithe, the team had taken refuge in a local inn. Fortunately for them, the owner recognized them from somewhere and let them stay the night. Casey had replaced his overcoat and coat for a red smoker's jacket and sat in one of the chairs facing the fire. He was lost in a mix of confusion and wonder over the events, but his state was mainly of the latter. He, Ryan, and Shanedooiney were forced to share a room as the other members and guests had beat them to it. Ryan, Christopher and Jimbob had gone down to the pub at the bottom floor and Shanedooniney had dozed off. "At last," Casey said to himself, "I'm alone." He looked in his carpet bag and pulled out a laptop computer, he then started to play a game of solitaire while listening to a recording of The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy Series.
Clay was cold and tired. The unsuccessful rescue attempt had made the warden a little paranoid, so he had Clay moved to the tower block. Fortunately for him it would be a night no one would forget.

To make matters worse, a newbie, dubbed 'Teh_Steamer', jumped out of no where, and scared Clay out of his pant's wits. "OMG! You're Clay!" Screamed Teh_Steamer in a most annoying voice.
In Clay's head, thoughts ran through in his mind, such as, "Who in George Awdry's beard is this?" Teh_Steamer and Clay talked for hours, and finally, Teh_Steamer realized what Clay was trying to tell him: "GO AWAY." Quietly, Teh_Steamer sluggishly crawled away, only to find other SiF members, to annoy them.

At Maithwaite, Ryan, Christopher, and Jimbob were all sitting in the pub, trying to think of what they could do to help Clay get out of Jail. "Could we just set fire to the damn place?" asked Jimbob. "Yeah, great idea," said Ryan sarcastically, "And burn Clay with it?" Christopher was ignoring them, deep in thought. Then, he had an idea. "What if we did like a Trojan Horse type of thing? Like, make a distraction, then some of us sneak in to break Clay out?" "Brilliant, Christopher, your brilliance never ceases to amaze me..." said Ryan. "Well, you know—" started Christopher. "...Except there'll be more guards inside, especially where they'll be keeping Clay!" interrupted Ryan. "Oh, yeah, forgot that part." Admitted Christopher. "Well, I have an idea, then." said a voice from the darkness. Then, out from the shadows walked Tom, his Three Section Staff still in the sheath over his back. "And that is?" asked Ryan. "Someone, preferably a good actor, goes in, looking like a lawyer of some form, here to make a complaint that the conditions in the cells violate some law or something, and they just try to distract them long enough for me, Ryan, Christopher, and Casey to sneak in." "You're still missing something to get past the guards inside." said Ryan. "No, not really," said Tom, taking the Three Section Staff out from it's sheat, then adding, "I think this should be enough." "So what are we waiting for?" asked Jimbob, "Let's go!"

Outside the prison again, all was silent. Christopher let out a low whistle as he surveryed the building for any weak spots. "Pretty solid, this." "What I don't understand," said Jimbob, "is why Sodor, of all places, would have a prison run by despots and evil b*stards and want to lock you up, Ryan." "And," said Tom, "why Clay has taken the fall for you." Ryan stayed silent. Now wasn't he time for worrying about that - he had faith that Clay knew what he was doing. Possibly misguided, he thought, but hey, faith is faith. "Look, tell you what," said Shanedooiney, "as far as I can see it's pretty simple. Tom, you know how to use that staff, yeah?" "Yeah..." "So what we'll do, is one of us visit Clay in the cell - probably you - and when you give the signal, we'll throw up the staff, you can do your thing and then the two of you can run free into the woods and live happily ever after with three children and a pig farm." Silence followed. Shanedooiney coughed. "Sorry, a bit carried away there..." "A PIG farm???" Tom said. "Chickens are so much better! Meat AND eggs!" The matter was left there. Tom handed the staff to Ryan and walked up to the prison doors. "I'm here to visit Cla-err, Ryan Healy." The guard looked at him suspiciously. "OK then," he said at last, "no funny business." Tom nodded, and walked in.
Clay laid back and stretched his arms. The visit from Teh_Steamer, whoever he was, was a welcome distraction, but quite frankly he was getting bored with the whole thing. The keys jangled against the door. Clay looked up. "Healy!" shouted the guard. "What? Yeah?" Clay said, momentarily forgetting that he had, indeed, taken the fall for the Scotsman. "You gotta visitor." "Oh aye..." Clay muttered to himself, and lay back down. Seconds later he was on his feet as he recognised the figure in the doorway.

Shanedooiney was cross. He had been sleeping when someone had popped their head through his window and began flipping out. He didn't quite catch all of what he said, but he did remember something about a Steamer, perhaps Teh_Steamer. He wondered why it was "Teh" and not "The". As Ryan went inside he began to feel queasy. Something about the whole thing just didn't settle with him. Something was bound to go wrong. "Ryan knows what he's doing," he said to himself. "Gotta have faith, gotta have faith."
"Ry...er...Clay!" Clay shouted as Ryan appeared. Ryan glanced over at the guard, who hadn't noticed anything. Then, Ryan sat down and began whispering his plan. When he was finished, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a walkie talkie. He pressed the button, and said "The Eagle has landed" very softly into the reciever. Meanwhile, the guard, suspicious, had whispered something into his transmitter as well, and 10 other guards were making their way into his chamber.
"That's the signal!" exclaimed Tom as Ryan's voice cracked through the static. Shanedooiney quickly reached for the staff, but it was gone. He looked at Tom. "Oh, sh*t."

"It's gone? Gone?" asked Tom, frantically. "It looks like it!" Replied Shanedooiney. "Crap...Where's te radio transmission, is it a 2-way?" "I think so." "Good. Ryan? Can you hear me?" Ryan was shocked to hear Tom's voice. "Ryan?" "Yeah Tom, I can here you. Where are you with that staff of yours?" "It's gone, somehow." "WHAT? Now what do I do?" "Are the guards heavily armed?" "I haven't seen a firearm in the whole damn building..." "Good, then all you have to do is not get yourself locked up. I'll be there ASAP." "Alright." Tom turned to Shanedooiney, and said, "I'm going in. Stay here," and ran in. "I didn't really plan on coming..." mumbled Shanedooiney. Soon Tom had reached Ryan, who was shocked to see Tom. Tom was shocked to see the room empty. "Where are the guards?" asked Tom. "You must have beat them here. The guard here just went to the bathroom, but I heard him shouting about more guards coming." "Then where could they be? THey should be here by now..."

Suddenly, Ryan woke up - they had freed Clay, and everything from Casey Jones' post onward had been a dream...

The moment he woke up, Aidan, Christopher, Casey Jones, and the rest of the SiF gang crumpled to the floor. Ryan jumped. "What the hell...?" he exclaimed. Shanedooiney scrambled to his feet. "I think," he began, "that we were all somehow sucked into your dream." "Yeah, The instant you fell asleep, we were all back at the prison and Clay was still held captive," coughed Casey Jones. "It was strange, we remembered everything, but we didn't at the same time. I can't describe it." Aidan agreed. "But the question is," he stated, "why did this happen?" "I don't know," said Ryan, "but I would sure like to find out. This whole trip has been a bit screwy." "Maybe next time you can dream about Keeley Hazell," suggested Shanedooiney. Everyone stared. "...Or not," he mumbled. Clay had been thinking. "You know, this whole time I've been wondering. Is this 'Railway Series' Sodor or 'TV Series' Sodor? I've not noticed anything to distinct between the two..." "If we see any ice cream or chocolate factories, we'll know," put in Halstead. "Or Emily," snorted Shanedooiney. "Right," said Ryan. "In either case, we should go see the Fat Controller. Maybe he can help us somehow." The others agreed, and they set off.

The team were out, wondering along the road. They were in hopes of finding a bus stop or a sign of some sort to help them. "I wonder where exactly we are," said Casey, checking his watch even though it was a useless idea. "By my guess," added Ryan, "half way to where we started." Luckily there was a halt. They knew a ride would come soon...

...and so it did. The group was walking next to a railway line. Soon, they heard a whistle. They looked over to see EvilThomas and Alaric riding in Bear's cab. "Hello all" called EvilThomas. "Need a lift?" "Indeed we do" replied Christopher. He and Aidan had been wakened earlier by Ryan, Shanedooiney, and Casey "Hop in, then" said Alaric. "Plenty of room in here." And so the gang joined Alaric and EvilThomas in the cab of Bear. "So, how exactly did you find Bear, anyway?" asked Christopher. "Why don't you tell them, Alaric?" glared EvilThomas. "Ah, right" said Alaric. "Well, there's a bit of a story behind that. You see, it all started..."

Everyone started to huddle around in a circle ready for the flashback. "Three weeks ago, I spent my days sitting atop a hillside off a long footpath. Actually it was a dismantled railway and I come here to get inspiration for my jokes and fictional stories." continued Alaric. "But that day I felt too depressed to think of new ideas. You see since Clay mysteriously disappeared a while ago, it felt like a piece of jigsaw was missing from my life; I no longer felt funny anymore..." Just than a stranger from behind (EvilThomas) approached me in a subtle manner...

"It all started as we were both walking along the lines of a railway back in regular reality. Then, suddenly, things started to change. We started to see what looked like faces on the trucks. Eventually, we came to the engine yard, and we saw all of the engines of Sodor! Needless to say we needed to pinch ourselves a few times, but we eventually figured that by some happenstance, we had arrived on The Island of Sodor." said Alaric. "That doesn't explain why you're driving Bear," said Christopher. "It does answer your question though, Clay." said Tom. "What question?" asked Clay. "You asked if you thought this was Railway Series Sodor or TV series Sodor, and Bear being here must mean it's Railway Series," "Right. But Alaric, do continue with your story." "Right," said Alaric, "So I decided we should use the Thomas Edison method of learning and apply it to driving a locomotive." "Thomas Edison Method?" asked Casey. "Thomas Edison tried 2,000 times to create a light bulb. He succeeded on the 2,001st. When asked how it felt to have failed 2,000 times, he replied, 'I didn't fail. I just found 2,000 ways not to make a light bulb.'"Said Tom. "Precisely. And clearly, it did not take us 2,00 tries, we got it on the first one!" said Alaric, proudly. "Ignoring the fact that its about a hundred times more likely for you to have killed yourselves on the first try, good job. Now let's go." "Where to?" asked EvilThomas. "To the fat Controller's office." said Clay. "That won't do you any good." said Alaric. "Why?" said the rest of the group. "I've already been there. He's away!" explained Alaric. "Great," said Ryan, "Now what do we do?" "I have a plan," said Tom.

Bear roard down the track. Casey sat in the far corner reading Howl's Moving Castle while listening to Cat Stevens. "Where are we heading?" Casey, who was feeling out of the loop. "You'll see," said Tom. Casey hid his head inside his book and stared to sing to the lyrics, but stopped when Ryan told him to stop because it was giving him a head ache. The journey was going well, but trouble layed ahead...

At Wellsworth Junction a few trucks of coal were on the Station Road, it was quiet only one passenger stood on the platform waiting for the next train from the branch. His name was Derek, suddenly he saw Bear coming, the Station Staff were all in the office.
Derek could see Bear was going to bash the trucks of coal, he ran down the platform and grabbed a red flag that the gaurd from the last train had left, he got to the end of the platform and waved it, the platform was curved so the crew wouldn't have been able to see the coal trucks.
"Why aren't they slowing down?" wondered Derek.
Derek closed his eyes tight and ducked down preparing for the crash he heard a great crunch, opened his eyes and saw...

Bear was covered in black, and the trucks were in pieces. Ryan appeared from the bent door, dirty and so were the others. "We need a bath," said Casey, who was lucky to be sitting in the back of Bear. Ryan glared at him. "This is the part where I shut up?" added Casey. Ryan nodded and the shock and patted as much soot from his hair as he could. "I thought I saw a lad over there before the crash," noted Christopher. * * * At the hospital the police were asking Alaric and EvilThomas how they got Bear. They were midways through when... "What is going on?" snapped a fat man in a morning suit and top hat. "I demand to know why I have a diesel at Crovans Gate for repairs!"

The policemen jumped, as did Alaric and EvilThomas.
"Ah, Sir Topham Hatt, Sir," said one startled policeman, "we didn't see you there."
"That still doesn't answer my question," snapped the Fat Controller.
"Well sir, you see..' began Alaric.
"We took Bear so we could give our friends a ride," said EvilThomas. The Fat Controller glared.
"I do not tolerate joyriding on my railway. I might as well consider letting these fine officers take you away. However, I think you should work for me in order to pay for the damages Bear has experienced."
Alaric and EvilThomas returned to the others, glum looks on their faces.
