My vote is for Johnny Cash's rendition of 'Hurt' Although the song was originally sung by Nine Inch Nails, Cash's interpretation is far superior, and is very fitting to the artist's life. It's even more poignant when you watch the video, and have read his biography. He had a pretty tragic and tumultuous life. video here: www.losthighwayrecords.com/e/cash11403.html

I bet some wise-guy is going to say "Thomas & Friends Season Eight theme"
My brother quite likes 'I'll be Missing you' by (I think it's) Puff Daddy & Faith Evans And I know, I'll be a laughing stock for this, but one that almost got me was 'The time has come' from The Pokemon Episode 'Pikachu's Goodbye' not because of the episode itself, but you see, one of my dogs died recently. I was listening to some music that I'm planning on using in Media projects, and 'The Time has come' came on. That made me pause, in a minute's remembrance

I found Rick Wakeman's "Gone but not forgotten" song a bit sad.

*sniffs* For me, the saddest song that chokes me up is Desiree Goyette's "So Long Old Friend", as heard in HERE COMES GARFIELD...guess there's a reason why Comedy was created...

And I know, I'll be a laughing stock for this, but one that almost got me was 'The time has come' from The Pokemon Episode 'Pikachu's Goodbye' Not at all, Truro. I think that song's pretty sad and it'd be one of my nominations too. Others: Don McClean - Cryin' Queen - Too Much Love Will Kill You & Who Wants To Live Forever Bon Jovi - Never Say Goodbye Heart - Alone Richard Marx - Right Here Waiting And I'll end with one from Thomas - That's What Friends are For.

The Outfield - Your Love
It doesn't make me cry now, but when I first heard it, it made me shed a tear. Pretty good song though - I liked it even though it was making me cry.

Simon & Garfunkle - Bridge Over Troubled Waters: This song is the bane of our existance in choir. One, there are a horde of Year 7s who are useless, it's very slow, and it's extremely high! I can get up there, but after I've been singing high notes for three minutes, non stop, it makes it very difficult! Nah, I like the song, and the ending's great! Annie Lennox - Into the West: Any Lord of the Rings fan will know this - it's sung over the credits for The Return of the King. It's a lovely song, 'nuff said.

Saddest songs eh? Well... One of my Favorite songs is a sad en, The Titanic Theme "My Heart Will Go On" its quite a sad en, especially if you have the Music Video to go with it. I for some reason it helps me to write my IW's better when i'm listening to it at the same time.

If there is one piece of music that has made me cry hardest it would be this... Kate Winslett-What If For those who dont know, its from the soundtrack of the Christmas Carol animated movie. It is very emotional, and it makes me cry every time I hear it (no joke). It made me cry most hardest when I had to break up with my 3rd love, I was on my desk with my head over my arms when I listened to this piece one night, I must say, its my favourite song cause (unlike my parents) it suits my mood perfectly, like my Sad theme. Anyway, I made a music video with this piece when I was supporting the "Thomas loves Emily Campaign", where we were supposed to make music videos dedicated to Thomas and Emily's love. Here it is (If it runs out, let me know) www.megaupload.com/?d=FP7ZB8NMP.S. all feedback on this music video will be appreciated, though to keep on topic please direct your comments to PM, thank you

The morning of the day I saw that episode, my goldfish Brian died.

Mike and the Mechanics - The Living Years. Fantastic song, sweet, uplifting and sad all at the same time. Easily a classic. Queen - You Take My Breath Away. The quintessential rock ballad (in my mind anyway). Primarily Freddie's haunting vocals, but the backing guitar and piano adds to the feelong of the song. A true classic.

I admit, I was almost a blubberbox when that song played in Bye Bye, Butterfree as well as Pikachu's Goodbye.

Echo-Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
This is THE saddest song I've ever listened to. It's got sad lyrics and the chords are sad (mostly C and some A minors).

That made me pause, in a minute's remembrance I almost cried when I heard the song 'The Time has Come' myself, Truro. Because it really looked at that moment Ash was permanently parting with Pikachu. But then came that brilliant twist at the end, making it one of my fav eps in the entire series. Other sad songs I've listened to: My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion Closest Thing To Crazy - Katie Melua Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy Drive Safely Darling - Tony Christie. Stuart
