"You get respect in society if you are agressive. If you fight then people respect you. If you fight back, people like you for that as well. When I've been beaten up, if I've been in a pub doing nothing wrong, the fact I chose not to fight back, that I would never throw a punch back, people say I'm weak. I don't think that's a weak thing at all. I think why should I descend to their level? If I've done nothing wrong, throwing a punch back makes me as bad and corrupt as them. As evil as them, as stupid as them"
"I know I believe in nothing, but this is my nothing"Richey James Edwards (Second Quote taken from the Manic Street Preachers song 'Faster') "I love my brother, but not as much as I love Pot Noodles"Noel Gallagher

Nothing is better than eternal happiness. A ham sandwich is better than nothing. Therefore, a ham sandwich is better than eternal happiness.

For those following the case of the amateurish Russian spy ring recently discovered in the US, here's the (genuine) opinion of one of the spies' shocked neighbours, who frequently saw the fiends gardening. To say all this happened in America I think this is a rather British reaction:
"They couldn't have been spies. Look what she did with the hydrangeas."
Worthy of any Ealing Comedy, I reckon!
EDIT: Apparently a joke by a 15 year old neighbour. Even so...

Guess the Quote AND Fill in the Blank: "In just a few hours you'll be sitting around the campfire with ____ making delicious, hot 'sch'moes.'" Guess who said it, where it's from, and the missing word, and you'll get... Bragging rights.

You told me they'd get a fair trial. What kind of a trial could they have possibly had?
I assure you I heard them out. I weighed their statements against those of the guards and I took into consideration their service records and commendations. It was a difficult decision, Commander, but I dare say it was a fair one. They have the right to have their case heard by a jury.
I am a flag officer on detached service during a time of war. Regulations give me broad authority in this matter.
(to Tigh) Launch the fighters. (to Cain): You can quote me whatever regulation you'd like. I'm not going to let you execute my men.
I highly suggest you reconsider that statement, Commander.
Admiral, Galactica is launching Vipers and a Raptor. Commander, why are you launching Vipers?
Please arrange for Chief Tyrol and Lieutenant Agathon to be handed over to my Marines as soon as they arrive.

The humans, I think, knew they were doomed. Where another race would surrender to despair, the humans fought back with greater strength. They made the Minbari fight for every inch of space. In my life, I have never seen anything like it; They would weep, they would pray, they would say goodbye to their loved ones, and then throw themselves without fear or hesitation at the very face of death itself, never surrendering. No one who saw them fighting against the inevitable could help but be moved to tears by their courage. Their stubborn nobility. When they ran out of ships, they used guns, when they ran out guns they used knives and sticks and bare hands. They were magnificent. I only hope that when it is my time, I may die with half as much dignity as I saw in their eyes in the end. They did this for two years they never ran out of courage but in the end, they ran out of time.
