Kate, were there any tags on the dog's collar to begin with? Anyhow, glad to see the dog is in good condition. I have two dogs and both of them are basset hounds. The girl is named Emma (6 years old) and the body is named Woody (2 years old). Emma never does anything wrong about the house, so when something happens (mess, accident, etc), we all know who to point fingers at. Woody can't stand being alone, and will often hang out with somebody in the house. I've had several cases where he would just come into my room and lay on the floor, because there was nobody in any other rooms to hang out with. He also obnoxiously bangs on the door with his paws until you let him in. He'll also jump on a chair and sit with us at dinner, as well as jumping on a bin outside to look over the fence.

I hate to steer this thread onto a depressing note, but something very sad has happend. My pet rabbit, Flora, died this morning. She was 6 years old. I remember when we got her at the Flora Festival in September 2002. She was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. And when I picked her up to nurse her, she snuggeld right into my arms. When we brought her home a few weeks later, she instantly became part of the family. We put her in an open-roof cage and watched her eat and sleep. And when we picked her up for a nurse, she'd relax in our arms (and slip down a bit). This morning, when Mum told me Flora had passed away, I just couldn't believe it. She was very stiff when I patted her with tears in my eyes. She had a piece of carrot in her mouth and she was sitting under her cage's archway (her favourite spot). We burried her a few hours later. We chose a shady corner of the backyard. Mum and I even put Flora's favourite foods into a paper bag and burried it along with her. Mum was crying a lot. As you can guess, I am in a state of mourning, and will probably be this way for a week. So let me end this by saying: Flora Darby 9th August 2002-13th January 2008 R.I.P

I'm sorry for your loss, Tim. I was in a state of mourning myself when one of other older dogs, Bannon (a Yellow Labrador) passed away.

I only like to consider having 1 pet, although the others in my family have a bit of a zoo happening. However, I only really like to claim Jackson, my Groodle (or Golden Doodle to Americans - and, no it's not something dirty, its a Golden Retriever - Poodle cross) as the true pet of the family. Aside fom that my sister has a cat named Trixie, and my Dad has a Cockatiel named Mickey (or Buzzard, depending on whether he is being a twerp or not) and two Green Tree Frogs

I did have a pet....until today. My goldfish died at dinner-time. It was a special goldfish: since I'm autistic, my Mum brought it for me to help me to relax. I grew attached to the little fella until today. I'm still plagued by it. I now keep having horrible nightmares. Rest in piece, my friend....

Today, two of my dogs, Codrum and Betsy, managed to escape from my mom when she was walking them. She spent about 40 minutes looking for them with the help of a neighbor. Our third, Chuska, was smart and stayed home. Betsy and Codrum are back now, and it's a good thing too because they might've been seriously hurt.

I only have one cat named Ringo, she is a 12 year old tabby, & she is also a crybaby when she was looking for love, so I was the only who gives her too much hugs!! ;D But she sometimes is a bad cat too, but I wouldn't want you to know why, but it's pretty gross actually. Anyways my family called her 'Wigah' (wee-gaa) or no pancakes!! LOL! Anyways, my cat is the greatest cat I've ever gotten ever since I've first got her for $50.00 long time ago, so she'd be in my heart during the night when I get to bed every time she comes to my room!!

Two Sundays ago, me and my parents went out to Long Island and bought a puppy. She was a 7 week old, Black labrador retriever. Her name is Layla (which is Arabic for night) because she's as dark as night. She can be very sweet, but, unfortunately, she's now in the teething phase, so she bites everything, including us! But she's a new member of the family, and we care a great deal about her.

The friday before last I picked up a kitten from my friend Katie. He's an orange tabby named Simon. At first, I was worried he wouldn't get along with my dog, but they're pretty good with each other. I'll post some pictures up later.

I have 3 cats in my house.
Tiger- He is now 11 years old, I've had him for almost 7 years, and he's cute.
Conrad-Got him for my 15th birthday, 3 years old, loves to sneak outside, and he's fast.
Brian-Also got him for my 15th birthday, 3 years old, because he and Conrad are brothers, he eats alot, and now he's enormous!
I also had a cat who was 17 years old when he died back in 2002. His name was Elmer.

I took Simon, my kitten, to the vet for the first time today. He...screamed a lot. I didn't think that was possible.
Anyway, just felt like sharing.

Man, I feel your pain It's traumatic to lose a fish - believe me, I've bred them and grow quite attached the little fellas... and since your fish was such a big help to you, it's all the more worse. My advice to you is to mourn, but to also remember the good times with your goldfish - doing that brings a smile to my face, maybe it will do that for you too ^_^ * * * * * Anyway, today I bought a lizard XD A Green Anole who I'm pretty sure is female... She's fed, watered, warm, and loved - what more could she ask for? ^0^ ~Elizabeth

She's right, Shane - the best thing to do is remember all the good times that you had with your goldfish. Believe me, I've done the same whenever one of my dogs passed away.
Elizabeth - that anole looks gorgeous! It looks to me like it is enjoying its new home!

Well, folks, I have some bad news. Today, we had an emergency with our puppy: it seems that she has broken her hip bone. I wasn't there, but my dad told me that she was running around and playing with our neighbor's dog; he turned his back on her for a few seconds so that he could throw something away, when he heard her shriek in pain. He brought her back to the house, and she couldn't walk on her right hind leg. He brought her over to the vet, and they found that, on top of a dislocated kneecap (which was relocated easily), she had somehow managed to break her femur (completely breaking the ball at the end of her bone off). So now, she is staying overnight at the vet to get surgery tomorrow. I was wondering here if anybody knew whether or not an FHO, which is the procedure they are doing on her, could have permanent side effects on a puppy. Also, the vet suggested that we get her spayed as long as she is being operated on. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to give it to her, but my dad says it would save money to do it now. What do you guys think?

We has new doggy!
He's a Rat Terrier mix, and we've decided to name him Ernie. Sweet little thing, very intelligent, and quite calm. Also amazed that the cat we already have, Rascal, is staying calm...she's known about the house as a bit of a spazz.
