I liked all the Soic cartoons apart from X and underground although it was good Knuckles appeared
Scratch and Grounder are like Bebop and Rocksteady from Ninja Turtles. Bumbling Henchman how would ONLY work in that cartoon and nothing else. OK Bebop and Rocksteady can work on the new series as long as they're not goofy but same cannot be said for Scratch and Grounder
There was going to be another series to SatAM with the new baddie and it was revealed who it was going to be Ixis Naugus (who was the one with the red eyes)

Yeah, I've heard about that.
I've based my personal Sonic canon on a post-SatAM world, simply because I liked that cartoon...and Princess Sally.
Just to show you how out-of-the-loop I once was, Sonic X was my first knowledge of Ms. Amy Rose...until then, I had thought Sally was still paired with Sonic! (There was also a breakup in the StH Archie comic at or around that time, or maybe before, dunno.)
A little miffed that Sally hadn't become official Canon, (and I'm a guy who likes his Fords Blue and Ferraris Red, thus I had to accept SonAmy,) I paired her with my own character, Jim Prower (get the SN?) and have been developing that particular version of her (always been careful to state that she's an alternate) and her relationship with Jim ever since.
But enough shameless self-plugging...I guess that goes to show where my fandom lies...

To be honest, I never really got into any of the Sonic cartoons. I guess the one I got most in to was Sonic X, if only because it was "truer" to the series than the others.

The main reason I despise Sonic X is the fact that they completely screwed up the characters and their personalities. For example, Knuckles used to be a competent somewhat level-headed character, but in Sonic X, he's just...stupid. His gullibility rocketed from being unrealistic to just plain amazing. Dr. Robotnik/Eggman is no longer a malicious villain who would love nothing more than to see Sonic's death by his hands, but instead is a villain who actually cares about Sonic and his friends. In one episode I remember, one of his machines goes berserk and starts beating the tar out of Sonic, and instead of showing glee, Eggman shows concern.
Amy has turned from a a girl with a slightly obsessive crush on Sonic to a completely obsessed, angry hammer wielding stalker. Don't even get me started on how Chris took Tails' place as Sonic's best friend. Lastly, my biggest complaint is how much they overpower Sonic and make the other characters complete weaklings. If I recall correctly, besides the above mentioned incident with Robotnik, I never saw Sonic lose a fight, and they make the fights that were long and epic in the game short and predictable. The fight with the Egg Viper being a prime example. One hit, boom. It's history. Perfect Chaos? Can't even scratch Super Sonic.
I didn't see all of the show, but I have to say while I still like AoStH best, SatAM was quite good if you wanted a serious children's cartoon, but Sonic X just doesn't cut it.

Meh, I think both Amy and Eggman were going down that path LOOOOOOONG before Sonic X.

Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles + Sonic CD & Adventure = WIN
As mediocre as the series has become in most respects (although Heroes wasn't bad), never forget there are always the classics.
While I have not played Unleashed yet, from what I've seen in the trailers, it looks promising in that it resembles the 2D titles of old, other than the werehog aspect of it of course.

Sonic Heroes, Adventure, and Adventure 2 are all pure gold and REALLY good, it's what got me into the franchise fully after all. I still have my Dreamcast working .

After hearing Sonic Music in Diesel and the Steam Engine, I'll gone into a Sonic mood and this news can only be summed up in one word

That's a nice suprise, this might be the game that shuts everyone up about Sonic being run into the ground.

Hmm, this seems like a good move by Sega. I'm sure the hardcore fans, nostalgia fans, people who played the original games and those who happen to see it.
Sonic never was a favourite of mine, but it's a game you can play over and over again. The music in some of the games also helps. :3

Interesting. If SEGA is pulling something similar to Megaman 9, they might actually make a Sonic game that I'll actually want buy!

If they can make this new sonic game to the point that the fandom will shut up and take it, good. No matter what you say or know, the Sonic fandom is one of the weirdest and worst. Look Sonic Fan-Made up on youtube to get my proof. That or listen to some poorly ranted rants....
Ranted rants....haha.

They're definitely one of the more vocal, larger, and more passionate of the videogame fandoms...I wouldn't paint all of them as bad, though, but, yeah, there's a lot of little kids in it.
Maybe that's why I've switched to Star Fox...

Anyone seen the new trailer? Flame wars have already started over certian *ahem* aspects of the game. None the less, seeing the trailer put me in the mood to get out Sonic Rush Adventure and see if I can improve my level scores.

Sonic 4 is going to be episodic. Even in victory, SEGA loses.
I mean WHAT?! You're going to charge us for each part of the game? Are you serious?! I don't see Capcom making us buy each stage for Megaman 9 & 10 individually. Sure there was some DLC, but it was all optional, and wasn't needed to clear the game.
It's really too bad, as I've been looking forward to a new 2D Sonic game for awhile. I knew from the start that "Project Needlemouse" was going to be something like this, but I never dreamed that SEGA would mess it up this badly.

So where is your proof that Sonic 4 Episode 1 has only one stage? Apparently it is anywhere from 4 - 7 levels long. I admit it, all I have is rumour.
So in your opinion its messed up because of that?
How about the awful looking running animation? The fact the level looks like Sonic Advance 1's first level? GREEN EYES, LONG SPIKE Sonic?
However if the game play mechanics is spot on, then all is well.

Love the look of it - love the "going back to basics" feel of it. Unhappy at the (now confirmed) having to pay for each "episode" of the game - something tells me a cash cow has just been milked for gamers. Shame. real shame. Looking at Super mario Bros. Wii - it could have been so much more, Sonic 4.

Once again, Sega f*** up. As already pointed out, Megaman 9 was DLC yes, but was a one-off charge. This? Paying for -episodes'? Whut.
