For the curious, here is the last episode of Magiranger. Compare it to Mystic Fate Part II, and see how much is similar..... Yeah, I just watched the last two episodes, the wonders of subtitles! The morals that they use are the same, with courage standing out over everything else. Throughout PRMF they seemed to cut back on making their own footage, look at the battles with Koragg, such as the one when Xander couldn't fight through illness, yet when he appeared and didn't Ranger Up (Morph sounds so much better). There was no continuity as his background was a wood and the rangers were fighting on that rocky beach that keeps comming up time and again in Sentai. I wouldn't be suprised if most of the Ranger footage throughout the series was taken from Magiranger. *Edit Operation Overdrive isn't out yet and Boukenger hasn't even finished yet but they have already brought out two previews of Gekiranger, enjoy;

I know a comparison site for PR seasons: www.sodders.netHas half of Ninja Storm, a few eps of Mystic Force, one ep of Dino Thunder, two eps of Wild Force and the entire season of SPD for you to compare with their respective seasons.

Its been announced that in Gekiranger the initial 3 rangers will be joined later on by three other rangers. Looking at the green elephant zord I'd guess at one being green, I'd love to see an Orange or Purple Ranger making debuts, going with nearly all of the colours in the colour wheel. I might find the website announcing that, but hopefully its reliable. I only know that Bouken means adventure in Japanese, so I can't verify it! <hr> #Edit (Posted after picture below www.tv-asahi.co.jp/geki/I bet you can't understand this page! I prefer the usual Sentai/Ranger look!

I saw a Gekiranger music video, and, was it just me, or was Gekiranger subscribing to the "Rookie Red Ranger" plot device? It looked as though yellow and blue were around before red. If that's the case, I've just found something to berate the with-the "Rookie Red Ranger" plot device has been used since GoGo V, and is becoming tediously overused. The concept is also carried over to Power Rangers, where it used tediously as well. On a lighter note, there's a release of season 1 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. www.ranger-retrocenter.com/ (note: you may have to scroll down) The bad news is that it's in french. Oh well: Transmutation Demande!

As a kid, I've always liked the white MMPR. He had some of the coolest stuff (Tigerzord, etc.). Anyway, Gekiranger looks intresting. Apparently, Gekired was raised by pandas.

Is it just me or is everyone else finding the whole Battlizer concept boring now. They just unveiled the PROO version today and for me it just ruins it again, because the character they have made from Zubaan is the equivilant to dragonheart. It gives them the ideal opportunity to sell more toys rather than build on the depth of the story.
Looking at the merchandise from Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive, Power Rangers is just an advert for the toys, many of which don't even appear in the episodes. Just look at the battlized figures for Mystic Force, they have ones all the male Rangers, yet only the Red Ranger Battlized. This time there is an extra megazord that they are selling. Dino Thunder had the funny lorry that only appeared in the very last episode!

And besides, Zubaan might not even be the Battilizer. I just hope it doesn't end up like Jack's. To add to that, why is there the need to make a battilizer when Sentai has already come up with power ups in recent years (Triassic ranger, SWAT Mode etc.)?

I think the Batllizer concept has become one of those concurrent things throughout Power Rangers since Power Rangers In Space, and as such, tied to every new series, much like the crossover episodes with the previous teams (although they tend to be usurped time and again!).
It's just one of those things that you need to expect coming from each new series, which exists outwith Sentai creation. Personally, not a fan of them, I prefer the Japanese fighting scenes as they seem to convey better action without these daft gimmicks.

I was watching "Fire Heart" on Toonattik and, how did the rangers get their ability to transform into the Megazord back? The last time I checked, Koragg still had it. Well, never mind that now, it seems pictures of a power up of the Gekiranger, the "SuperGekiranger" are emerging, as well as a GekiViolet (who won't be getting a SuperGekiranger form). : withthewill.net/index.php?topic=1381.msg52887It appears GekiViolet will have a wolf based Zord, sound familiar? Merrick from Wild Force maybe? It also seems someone's wish of a purple ranger came true (myself, I thought such a colour would look silly, OK Koragg had purple but he had black to go with it...) And if anyone's interested, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie will be airing on Channel 4 (UK) on Bank Holiday Monday at 9:20 am (I think, somewhere around that time. At least it's not on at 5 in the morning like last time, and yes, I did get up that early just to watch it). It seems there is going to be a release of Season 1 of MMPR in German. Luckily there's an English language track available too: www.ranger-retrocenter.com/ (N.B. You may need to scroll down) Well, I suppose you could buy it from Amazon Germany if you wanted...

One thing though - I just wish they'd release Series 1 of MMPR on DVD here in Britain. I don't think French DVDs work on British players, so I ain't taking the risk.

French DVDs should definately work on British DVD players, no question about. Like the UK and the rest of Europe, France has region 2 DVDs. I've ordered some from there before, and they play just fine.
It's whether the DVDs in question have the option of English audio that you need to be careful of.

I'll check, but I'd've preferred if it was released properly in the UK.
BTW, what happened to the thread for 'Power Rangers Dream Team'? I can't seem to find it...
Speaking of which, this could make an interesting fanfic series, methinks.

The Dream Team thread wasn't doing much business so I tossed it up in the Scrap Yard.
Anyone else been finding the series has somewhat improved in recent years in some aspects?
The villains and storylines are a particular factor for me in this. Originally when the annual changing of teams came about, I was skeptical in my views of it, but I really think it's been a turn for the better, as it's produced some real depth for the characters and particularly the villains.
In retrospect, SPD had one of the best storylines of any series to date. Throughout it, while the Rangers were winning battles and such, Emperor Grumm was still managing to keep his hand in and undermine them and build up his masterplan. One thing the original series lacked is the depth of the current ones which can go significantly darker and more engaging as a result. There's more mystery to them which unfolds as time goes on as you discover more about the history behind it all.
The villains as well have improved - Mesagog and Grumm were genuinely disturbing, the former having no redeeming features, just pure evil and lacking any comic relief which would remove his menace.
One thing I've disliked recently is the Mystic Force series. Jaquin's a fan of it, and I agree with him on the characterisation of Koragg - a villain who believes that fighting with honour is the only way, but really, the characters in it aren't as appealling as those of previous series. That and it seems a little too focussed on the Harry Potter and Fairy Tale sort of "magic" rather than the kind we're used to of years gone by.
Still, can't complain, seen the first two episodes of Operation Overdrive and it looks like THAT will be a saving grace for 2007/8. Heard nice rumours that it's due to begin airing in the UK in July - which totally kicks ass! ;D

One thing the original series lacked is the depth of the current ones which can go significantly darker and more engaging as a result. There's more mystery to them which unfolds as time goes on as you discover more about the history behind it all. That's one improvement SPD had over Dekaranger, the latter had no one organisation bent on destroying Earth, they just went to Broodwing to get arms, who later assaulted SPD in the finale, because of how many giant robots of his he'd lost. Apart from slightly shoddy writing in places (Omega Ranger being treated like a weapon, Doggy forgetting the judgement scanner informed him a certain monster hadn't killed Isinia, Jack getting jerred at for having no friends when he had Z, the one where Sky gets his mind swapped with a monster) somehow, it has worked its way into one of my favourites. I blame Digimon Savers and its resemblance. Of course SPD had funny bits too: Syd: Has anyone seen Peanuts, my stuffed elephant?...I've had him since I was 5. Z: You mean you've had him for one year? Syd: Very funny! *RIC walks in chewing Peanuts* Z: Good doggy. Bridge: Does anyone want toast, it's buttery. *realizes he wiggles his fingers whenever he says buttery and attempts, unsuccessfully, to not do so* *Jack sees Sky laughing whilst cleaning the SPD fountain with a toothbrush* Jack: What's so funny? Sky: I'm using your toothbrush! *The Rangers turn up at Piggy's cafe* Monster: It's SPD! Run! *The monsters leave* Piggy: You've scared away my customers! They haven't done anything wrong...well, not today anyway. Power Rangers: Battle cry! Bridge: Don't worry, [Boom and I] left some of the old RIC in there. Cruger: I can confirm that for certain... Has anyone heard they reshot BoukenYellow's pose because it was supposedly a rude gesture. Someone on another forum moaned how 10 year olds would know that, when she was 18 and hadn't the faintest idea it was rude (it looked slightly girlish to me, but that was about it). Did anyone know it was rude? Also, I did mention in my previous post, the German DVD release contains an English language track. I've also heard there's a DVD release in Poland, where the English is left intact and it has a man talking over it in Polish (hence, an overdub).

And just when you thought things couldn't get much better, Jetix UK have announced they're bringing back Time Force in June!!! Undoubtedly one of my favourite PR series!
