Sonic: I never understood what was so good about this show- just a bunch of talking cartoon porcupines and squirrels (or whatever they are) rolling around and fighting an obese freak. TurboJ and Dragonfox might have thoughts about killing us both, but I have to agree with you there - the games were absolutely awesome, but the TV show didn't do anything for me. Perhaps games are just better than programmes because you're in control. Oh no, I agree. All of the cartoons, bar the movie but especially Sonic X could've been a HELL of a lot better! ¬_¬

Perhaps games are just better than programmes because you're in control. It's probably because the characters were created for a game, where you have a greater "stupid character" margin. They just don't work if you put them into an actual story where they have to make sense (Super Mario Bros. movie, anyone?)

Here's one of my pet peeves television wise: HISTORICAL DOCUMENTARIES THAT ASSUME THE CHURCH IS SOME BIG EVIL CONSPIRACYOne can only assume the calibre of Historians is really dropping quite rapidly. I will quite literally destroy my television set if I see another documentary that tries to pin all the world's evils on the Roman Catholic Church. Really. We know the Church hasn't a squeaky clean past, but there's only so many ridiculously biased accounts of the Crusades, the Inquisition and the Reformation and so on a person can concievably have thrust down their throat. And "The Truth Behind The Da Vinci Code" type documentaries rank pretty high on the loathing list as well. It's not a novel. It's an expensive brand of toilet paper. Live with it. Actually, I'll extend this hatred to anything referencing Panorama as well. It's smarmy, smug, patronising, biased, and half the time the BBC has an uncontrollable urge to blather on about it throughout the morning news programme the next day. For goodness' sake. If we wanted to know what the blasted program was about we'd have watched it in the first place. And another thing. They NEVER seem to vary the topic. It's either about Iraq, Afghanistan, or the NHS. And Question Time, once a good programme, seems to be heading that way as well. It's just a panel of 30-something year old MPs and clueless journalists being asked the same three questions fifty times over by an audience which appears to have a collective IQ of four. I like this thread. It's a great way to let off steam.

I can't stand reality TV at all, nor people's obsession with it. American Idol especially. Why the whole world (or at a large chunk of my corner of it) has to come to a standstill to watch that crap is beyond me.
Most kids' shows today I can't stand either. Nickelodeon and Disney Channel have some of the worst. (Blue's Clues and Rugrats are the exceptions though. I love both those shows.) I'm a Pokemon fan as my avatar and username attest to, but after the first two seasons the show lost most of its panache.

Family Guy. I admit that there was a time I've watched it when there was nothing else on and had a few guilty laughs but I've got to say it's a terribly written show. The characters are less than two-dimensional, the plots are wafer thin and never seem to go anyway or even be important in any respect, and all of the humor is derived from cheap non-sequitur pop culture references which have hardly anything to do with the plot nor do they actually to much to parody or satirize what they're referencing. Much of the appeal of the humor must be "I remember that crap 80's television show that ran for a little longer than one season, too! Ha!"
Robot Chicken. Well for one thing, it looks hideous. Other than that it's humor on the same level of Family Guy. It's been so long since I've even put up with not changing the channel as soon as it comes on that I can't think of a more specific or proper criticism.
Mind of Mencia. I won't bother to explain why. Dumb jokes about retarded people, stolen jokes, and other dumb humor's the most I'll say.
Of course they're too easy to hate but pretty much any reality tv or star search show.
There's so many more really but I don't watch a whole lot of TV and I don't want to be here all day listing the shows I can't stand...

LOST: Really, you can't watch that show unless you've been watching it since the beginning. A really dramatic version of Gilligan's Island if you ask me. South Park: ...Honestly, it's an insult all around.

There are alot of shows I hate so, here's just a few of them. Just to note to really enjoy this bit imagine I'm speaking in a "Foamy the Squirrel" like voice. If you don't know what he sounds like, go and listen to a few of his cartoons then come back here. I apologize in advance if someone is offended by the opinions of this post
Class Of 3000- First off the title is misleading, with a title like that most would think it would be like the Jetsons, not about a bunch of kids in a music class. Second, The animation looks like it was made be some one having a flashback to the 70's while on acid or something . Third, the characters, my major grip is that all the characters fall into at least one sort of stereotype of one sort or another. For example, the "Rich kid" of the group is a white male with blond hair who has a "Top-Hat" like accent.....So much for political correctness. Also, why in the show is so much emphasis place on the school teaching the students things like music, Dancing and just for kicks Circus Arts among various other useless things. Apparently, reading, writing, math, and science aren't very important in this cartoon universe, which is upsetting considering it's set in the present day.
Anyway, enough of that let's move on
Shows that discuss Doomsday-these are just out right depressing and useless. Has any one ever noticed that these shows are only aired on Sunday afternoons? Also, the creators forgot the verse in the bible that says only God knows when Doomsday will come.
My Gym partner is a Monkey- All this cartoon does is parody the issues going on in public schools on a daily basis. Also where's the FCC on the issue of the sheer amount of toilet humor in the series. If this was any other show I'd bet you that it would have been canceled during preproduction.
Jay Leno- This guy use to be funny but now ever other joke from him is about the Bush administration, and frankly I'm sick of it.
And while on the subject of NBC,
Keith Obermann's show on NBC- All I can say is if you decide to include NASA in you "Worst of the Worst" segment, at least have a better reason than they spelt Endeavour wrong on a banner. I'm serious this guy decided to put NASA in that segment just because the forgot to put in the "u" in Endeavour on a banner.
EDIT: Added more shows to the list and more comments on others.

As mentioned a few times before, 4Kids Anime. Sure, the early series of Pokemon was pretty cool, but I started to go off that when they brought in May and Max (They don't do anything!), and even more when 4Kids sold it off to the Pokemon Company. The new voices are god-awful! I miss Eric Stuart as James! I admit, i'm a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh. The theme tune is pretty cool, but removing the death theme was pretty stupid. What on earth is the Shadow Realm? The characters are cool as well (except Téa and her friendship speeches). Sonic X is by far the worst I've ever seen. Awful voices, awful music, too many violence-related edits. And Chris Thorndyke needs to jump off Angel Island.
Todays children's shows. Are all children dumb? That's the impression some shows give me.
As also mentioned before New Cartoon Cartoons.Thank god for Ed Edd n Eddy to see us through these dark ages.

I could rant for England on this subject; Anime - I'm known for being the 'big Manga fan' amongst my friends, which anyone who is a 'big Manga fan' would know are usually stereotyped as to liking shows such as 'Yu-Gi-Oh!', 'Naruto', 'Full Metal Alchemist' etc. I dunno about the rest of SiF's anime nuts, but I for one hate anime that is over-the-moon yaoi-shipping popular. I'm gonna use the examples I mentioned earlier, so any fans of these shows, please look away from this post. Or press 'Ignore DF', any way you prefer; Naruto - My stalker, as well as the majority of the anime community and industries, is a huge fan of this show and I really, really, really cannot see why. At all. When I see this, I instantly think 'Dragonball Z wannabe'. And what's all this bloody 'ninjitsu' crap that I'm regularly subjected to hearing about? Am I right in thinking that ninjas sport neon orange jumpsuits and spiky blond hair screaming 'Believe it!' after every sentence, jump around clapping their hands and turning themselves into logs and women in broad daylight? Oh of course I'm not, how could I be more wrong? Real ninjas hide in dark places at night wearing black attire so that they cannot be seen! And seriously, all this nonsense over 'character development' and 'engaging storylines'. Oh dear, the main character is sad because no-one appreciates his victory in a ninjitsu tournament, the story must be so broody and deep, I just wanna jump into the TV screen and cuddle him tearfully(!). I swear, I'll be glad when this craze dies. Full Metal Alchemist - This has to be the most boring anime I've seen to date (and I've watched Afro Samurai). Granted, I love the first opening song, but everything after that is just a snooze-fest. And I've read reviews saying that this was the best anime and manga ever devised. Haven't they heard of 'Akira'? I admit, using 'Akira' is not a good idea, but even with it's confusing storyline and gory violence, it's a lot more exciting than 'eat these drugs. They were made with human flesh. OM NOM NOM End episode'. That, and the animation is terrible. Yu-Gi-Oh! - I swear, this is just polka for kids (like Poke'mon is the otaku's guide to cock-fighting and re-releases). The characters are boring, the story moves too fast (a probelm occurs at the beginning of the episode, is solved 5 minutes later and then it's Polkamon til the dull cliff-hanger) and the monsters are uninspiring and lazily designed. Hell, 'Monster Rancher' has more interesting designs. These three shows are full to the brim of cliches, re-used plots and inaccuracies, yet these are the shows that everyone will back on in the future and say 'these were made by Gods' and inspire unimaginative kids channels (*cough*CartoonNetwork*cough*Nickelodeon*cough*Jetix*cough*) to mimic their style and make pathetic, boring rip-offs which will stain the anime image even worse than a 5-year-old boy's bed sheets. And yes, I can rant about all the other popular anime as well, except there are some popular ones which deserve their cult following (I'm looking your way, 'Cowboy Bebop') and some are just not worth mentioning (this is directed at you, 'One Piece'). Besides, my rants are usually controversially uneducated bias and nobody likes that kind of gimboid, do they? Aside from anime, 'South Park', almost anything from Ragdoll Productions, modern kids TV (Personally, I find modern kids TV a good substitute for crack) and anything else which have probably been already mentioned are crap too. END RANT. Now, begin your heckling!

Dragonfox, take an internet for brilliant use of the words OM NOM NOM. I have to agree, I go on "anime hate" websites and the people there are happy to admit that there IS good anime, but most of it is ruined by the fanboy/girl culture. Whenever you hear "fanboy/girl" you instantly think of YuGiOh, Pokemon, Ah My Goddess (which is sadly quite good), Inuyasha, Naruto etc. If it wasn't for the massive yaoi fanshipping in YuGiOh it would just be the fact that annoying little kids below the age of 11 play with their cards in the playground thinking "LOL I'M KEWL!!" Go on any anime discussion thing (note: not an actual anime forum, just an anime discussion thread somewhere) and there's a guarantee you will get a rabid fanboy/girl telling you how much s/he loves Love Hina and how much you should love it too. We're all entitled to opinions but we most certainly do not need to ram them down other people's throats, right? Well, I didn't exactly rant about any kind of anime, which is kinda the point of this thread... perhaps this was better off in the anime thread. But seriously Dragonfox, way to take the words right out of my mouth and make them more understandable. Have another internet. I will end with this: Sailor Moon is a good show. I enjoy it.

Where do I begin?
ANIME/ MANGA- I apologize to those who like it, but they just annoy me for some reason.
ANYTHING NICKELODEAN or CARTOON NETWORK- Of all the shows on these two networks, I can only tolerate Spongebob, Foster's, and sometimes Camp Lazlo. But most of their shows is pure studpidity.
PBS Shows (Except Thomas)- These shows are more watered down then Thomas in my book and have no appeal to them.
If I continued we wouldn't have any thread left.
Do we have a 'Shows you can stand to watch thread' ;D

For me, I can't stand reality shows, especially those fan voting and dating shows. The fan voting shows are nothing more than a popularity contest and no one cares about what happens next when the bachelor or bachelorette decides the right guy/girl. Some of the contestant voting shows are okay but I prefer the reality shows where the one with experience has the final world of who goes home.
I also loathe the cartoons on Disney Channel, Nick and Cartoon Network. The only ones I like are Ed, Edd N Eddy and Codename: KND. Everything else is just terrible, in my honest opinion because the main problem is that it follows the exact same storyline in every episode. I won't even mention all of the stuff on PBS and MTV, because it's too horrid for me to even mention!

VH1 will give anyone a show. I mean, come on; what the hell were the people there smoking when they decided to give Bret Michaels a show? Or, even worse, New York from Flavor of Love (if I started ranting about that show you'd be reading this tomorrow)? Michaels' career high was when "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" went big. Then that's it. And it should have stayed that way. And, quite frankly, New York is the skankiest, er, "lady of pleasure" I've ever seen. Not to mention she's a total b----.
Rant done.

Sonic X. They focus almost all the attention on some spoilled, mary-su, rich kid, and hardly ever let the Sega characters have their moments. The reason people watched it, was because it was a Sonic cartoon. But instead they force us to endure the 'adventures' of Chris Thordyke, and his obssession with Sonic. Eggman isn't the villian he used to be either.

Someone said earlier that ALL the Sonic cartoons sucked.
I disagree. What was known as "Sonic SatAM" was awesomeness incarnate. Sonic Underground was cheap and lame, and X - well, someone beat me to the cake. In an excellent way.
To you anime-fans who hate Naruto, Pokemon, etc, what're your thoughts on the Kanzaka sister series Slayers and Lost Universe?

Dunno about everyone else, but Friends has never appealled to me. I dunno why, the characters just seem so cheesey and superficial. Never been able to sit down and watch an entire episode of that show without having the overwhelming desire to cringe on the floor.
So bloody over-rated as well. Comedies like Frasier went totally understated when this was on.
