I saw "Stingray The Reunion Party" on Sunday night. I didn't enjoy it, it was just a bunch of clips edited together. I would've liked it if we got to see an actual reunion party. By the way, did anyone else see that "The Making Of Thunderbirds Program"? I though it was interesting hearing about Thunderbirds's impact in the 60s and some of Gerry Anderson's other series. Speaking of which, is it just me or has Lavender Castle been mostly forgotten, and why didn't New Captain Scarlet get a mention?
By the way, according to an article in the Sun in August, Gerry Anderson is trying to get the rights to Thunderbirds back from ITV in order to produce a new series of it.
Trouble is, this is the Sun newspaper, the same Sun newspaper which spreads rumours about actors appearing in Dr. Who (most of which turn out to be false) and also broke the news about CGI Thomas. Who/What do I believe?

I was reading up on that recently as well. Apparently ITV refused to sell the rights to Gerry when he approached them last year. It's covered in a interview on the BBC site, so a slightly more credible source... news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7655589.stm
While we're waiting for this new series to materialize(!), I'm sure fellow fans of Barry Gray's wonderful music will appreciate this rendition of the classic Fireflash theme. It sounds much grander than the version used in the Thunderbirds TV series, perhaps done with a larger orchestra.

I loved that Fireflash Orchestral, it was really something to listen too.
I would love for another Thunderbird series. We got an anime about it but it was pretty far off from the source material.

I would love for another Thunderbird series. We got an anime about it but it was pretty far off from the source material. The anime in fact was only shoehorned in as a sequel to Thunderbirds through dubbing. The anime was known in Japan as "Technovoyager" and due to Engrish or whatever, the letters "TB" ended up being written on the sides on the craft. And the series ended up becoming a "sequel" to Thunderbirds because the guy who made the anime was apparently the head of ITC in Japan (ITC being the company that owned ATV that made Thunderbirds). I saw an episode of the anime once. Unfortunately I found it quite boring.

I did see a CGI trailer for Thunderbirds once nothing came of it. I think they wanted to make another series similler to the CGI Captain Scarlet. If Thunderbirds does come back who wants to bet that one of the Tracey brothers has a sex change

Hmm, I doubt if they'll go round swapping genders. And Gerry Anderson won't be pleased if they do! On the subject of the Fireflash musical: CHRIS, THAT'S PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COMPOSITIONS I'VE EVER HEARD OUTSIDE THE ORIGINAL SERIES! SERIOUSLY! Whoever uploaded that on YouTube, they and the creator of that particular piece have done a proper job. I reckon even Barry Gray would be delighted to hear it now! Either way, I hope there are other homemade compositions out there - for anyone who loves Thunderbirds, and I know I do, it'll be well worth the find! Warm Regards As Always, MRHloco

Hmm, I doubt if they'll go round swapping genders. And Gerry Anderson won't be pleased if they do! Well it could be forced onto Anderson to change the genders. A female Turtle was forced into Ninja Turtles the next mutation. One of the creators wasn't pleased. It depends if Gerry Anderson has a say in all this. He had nothing to do with the Thunderbirds movie and he hated it (no surprise there) I know he was dissapointed the time when Captain Scarlet was on. He didn't like it being on Ministry of Magic. He wanted it to be on when everyone could watch it

One of the most iconic characters in Thunderbirds is female already, though - Lady Penelope. And you've got Tin Tin as well, who was involved in a lot of the adventures.
Re the anime, or Thunderbirds 2086 to use the official title, I had a few episodes on VHS a while back. It comes across as basically an attempt to do a Japanese version of Thunderbirds, so I'm not surprised it was repackaged. Same sort of format - things go wrong in the future, but we've got more technology to help us out. Thunderbird 2 was still the heavy transport and Thunderbird 4 was still a yellow submarine, but Thunderbird 1 was a space shuttle, Thunderbird 3 was a sort of all-terrain tank thing and Thunderbird 5 was a burrowing machine. There were, I think, 17 Thunderbirds in total.
In some ways, I'm not surprised that ITV don't want to sell the rights. Thunderbirds is one of those things that remains consistently popular every time it's repeated because, let's face it, it's pretty awesome and it's aged well. It's a cash cow they can wheel out every few years.

I thought the BBC had the rights to the series as they had been playing episodes? They had been playing episodes in the previous summer I know.
Unless they had the rights to view the episodes and the rights to the image or whatever is a different fish altogther. I'm not fully knowledgeable of all this.

I think it's something like Carlton have the creative rights, i.e. to merchandising, making new episodes etc., but they can grant others the licence to actually show the episodes. Much like how the old episode of Thomas are owned by HIT but can be shown on Nick Jr, Channel 5 or whatever.
I recall there was a rights issue involving Heljan's Class 57 models. As you probably know, a bunch of these were named after Thunderbirds characters (because they were rescue engines y'see) and carried appropriate logos. When Bachmann modelled these rescue engines, they had to pay to reproduce those logos and names. Which meant that when Heljan modelled them, the rights to reproduce those logos in the form of OO scale model engines had been snapped up and so the engines had to be nameless.
Copyright is weird.

And such a pain in the backside too. Watching a documentary that came with the box set of Thunderbirds made it sound like Gerry had the rights to get on with making a new series of Thunderbirds. I hope this is so as i'd love to see it updated and back onto the screens. I also remember the animated clip that someone did which starred TBird 1 and Scott. It was awesome. Also who would bet on a romance of Tin Tin and Alan becoming a dead cert and a possible romance between Lady P and one of the Boys? (Prob either Scott or Virgil) That would spice things up and also make a more credible attempt at showing the possiblity of the family running International Rescue for a generation longer at least.

I so wish more people had the same spunk as Anderson here. Straightforward, demanding and not afraid to speak his mind - and his brief but blunt "review" on the movie couldn't have been better stated ;D
Still, here's hoping all the same he'll get his demands, sooner rather than later.

if he ever does make a new a new version of Thunderbirds, i'd like to see the movie version of the Thunderbirds machines, but the characters from the television series, when i saw the movie i was blown away by the look of the Thunderbirds 1,2,3,4,5, because they looked more state of the art and high tech

Ok, I'm going to be controversial.....
I don't particularly want them to remake Thunderbirds.
It's such classic series, I love everything about, especially the original designs of the ships.
I enjoyed the remake of Captain Scarlet, and have it on DVD, series 1 and 2, but it wasn't as good as the original series in my opinion.
I would probably enjoy the remake, but I can't say im that bothered and I would just as happy if Gerry left it alone.

I'm with the lot of you, Gerry has amazing talent. The thing thats making me sort of sigh inside is that no matter what if he makes a new series or not, it will never be the same as the original. Speaking of new series, is there any story ideas that you guys had?
I had two back when I got the Thunderbirds Boxset. One was an episode where a space ship (Zero-X or different), finally completes a trip to mars, and with their payload are some of those freaky Rock Snakes that have sneaked on the ship. Imagine a Air Base of Launch Area coming under attack from those things.
Another was a team-up with Stingray. It could be cool.
