Well I just watched it on YouTube...
Utterly Brilliant. So wonderful... and almost tear jerking. Not quite Father's Day tear jerking (that almost did make me quiver me lip!), but it was so wonderful.
Anthony Stewart Head was so wonderful and the script... oh, I loved those lines of Finch's, tempting the Doctor to join them... bringing anyone back...
EDIT: And was it just me, or did this feel like the first episode of the new series that seemed to be connected with the Classic series? Like the references to K9 Mk III, the Doctor referring to being called back, the reference to Croydon (which I thought may have confused or baffled some newer viewers).

You're not alone there, Bean. I think this episode more than any other was designed with the Classic fans in mind. I mean, aside from the obvious fact that they brought back two companions (and two very popular ones at that). And Anthony Head was indeed terrific. It's just too bad he didn't have more to do. Mind you, that would have meant less time for the other plot, so I can live with it.

Upon watching School Reunion on tape having it recorded while I was away (good 'un MummyBob!) I have to say this...this. No I don't, I have to say it was a bloomin' great episode! Great acting by everyone there and K9 was absouluty brilliant! "Insist you engage running mode mistress". I was lolin' at that for ages, but this by far has to be the best quote... "Burn dog..." "Afirmative!"The only quiery I have about this is where the Doctor tells Sarah Jane this: "Their all dead Sarah." If this means the Time Lords, I dunno how Sarah could understand what this mean. The other thing I will say is the Torchwood thing appearing up again. It is now getting on my nerves. We understand theres a series coming out, no need to rub it in our faces every episode...(Saying that, it was only a quick thing, so I can't complain.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fact though, this was filmed in the high school down the road from mine, not in the Grange Hill sets as Alaric guessed. Speaking of Alaric, I'm suprised you haven't mentioned that this wasn't written by R.T.D .

It's a great shame that Anthony Head's character appears to be gone for good, I thought he had great potential as a long-standing enemy for the Doctor.
I agree about the Torchwood thing. Apart from anything else, why are they putting their name all over the Internet if they're so very very secret?

Good news for fans of Cybermen and Two-Parter Episodes - both are due to screen on BBC1 on May 13th and May 20th! If anyone wants me to reveal spoilers, then just ask

No spoilers are necessary from you now, Mr. Christopher, as the first part has already been aired. Wow, nobody mentioned 'Girl in the Fireplace'? Come on guys, it wasn't that bad! I mean, I liked it, anyway. The whole 'Doctor meets Mme. Pompadour at different times of her life' felt a little rushed, considering how the two behaved towards each other, but then again the only way to extend it would be to make it a two parter, which then would have meant it dragged. So it's a no win situation. Interesting idea behind the robots too. Not entirely sure about 'Space clockwork', but it worked. Ah, but perhaps you're all saving your reviewing skills for when the next Cybermen episode airs. Well, part 1 certainly was pretty cool (except for that music they played over the 'Cyber-conversion' scene. Totally ruined it). Anyone else see the parallels between the new Cybermen creator (whose name I can't remember) and Davros? Not knocking that, since the reasoning behind both characters' actions is pretty similar, so it makes sense. Oh, and no trailer this time. Which actually is better, if you think about it, 'cos now you have no idea what's gonna happen next. Unless you ask Christopher, of course.

Was that the one where they are all taken into a room and there's screaming and the men outside play "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"? I found that funny in a sadistic sort of way. I also found it cool how they didn't put a "Next Time" trailer. Now about the Girl in the Fireplace. I read the Disconituity Guide on Whoniverse.org and found two very interesting goofs

The reason he didn't go back using the TARDIS instead of the fireplace was presumably because Reinette said that he never returned, so he can't without interfering in causality.
Anyway, loved the first part of the Cybermen story. I like the Metropolis-style Cybermen, and Roger Lloyd-Pack's character is a suitably ruthless bad guy. Probably won't survive the story, which is a shame.
I liked the music over the Cyber-conversion. It made the character that little bit more sinister- he knows that what he's doing is evil, he doesn't like it, but he does it anyway and drowns it out.

I know what the intention of it was, and that was cool and all, I just think it was the wrong song to use. For instance, if they'd used some classical or operatic music, I think that'd have been more effective. 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' just totally killed the mood, for me at least.

That bit made me want to throw up! They should've used the Imperial March or William Tell Overture.

Aye, I actualy sound that a bit odd an' all. BTW, did anyone notice that most of this was filmed in my home-town of Newport? That one scene where Rose, Micky and the Doctor was and where discussing about Roses Dad is where I've exactly been, should've stray painted "JimBob Woz Here" just for the sake of it (Keep a eye out for that in the next series ). Next time I'm down there, I'll get pics so I can prove it ----------------------------------------------------- The Cybermen episode was a good one, I never thought the Cybermen would be the dirty men to 'Trigger' (as like Alaric I dunno who he is, I've just called him that ). Now, I haven't seen the "Next Time" Trailer, so if something happens (which I think it will...), don't say anything

That bit made me want to throw up! They should've used the Imperial March or William Tell Overture. I disagree, because that would imply that the character has some sort of emotional involvement in the cyberconversion, or at least is thinking, "What would be some appropriate music to play while these men undergo conversion into Cybermen?" We've already seen that the character simply doesn't care about these men, it's just part of his job. It reminds me of a news article I read once about a man arrested for double murder. But the thing that really struck home was the fact that as he drove away from the scene of the crime, he took and finished the cheeseburgers his victims had been eating. The fact that he could do something so casual after such a brutal act surely says more about his mind than anything more "appropriate", and by the same token I think The Lion Sleeps Tonight is a far better piece of music to show how little this man cares about his actions than anything more traditionally "creepy". I'm also reminded of Freud's theory on fear, which is that what we really find scary is when the familiar is placed in an unfamiliar context, or the unfamiliar is placed into a familiar context. This is probably why alien invasion movies invariably involve well known landmarks. I think the Imperial March wouldn't be a great choice. People would hear it and think, "Ha ha ha, Star Wars reference! Lumic is, like, trying to be Darth Vader!"

Ok, I won't spoil the episode for Old Beans sake, but I will say that todays was a speticular episode. Tear jerking, but excellent. I've never seen such a brilliant episode (bar School Renuion). Fantastic episode, I wish they sign this guy who wrote this up for Next Series.

So here's my two cents about tonight's ep.
I found the Doctor's usage of that TimeLord weapon a bit out of character, that or I've been influenced by the Doctor Who Magazine's mention of the usage of weapons in the comics was out of character. I'm amazed Mickey decided to stay in the parallel world, I hope we see him again.

What's all this about cyber conversation? It was only a load of people screaming and machines whirring while hobos got thier brains chopped out and placed into a metal body.

Desperate times call for desperate situations, I guess. All in all, a pretty good episode I thought. Very cinematic, which can be a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it. Still unsure about the reasoning behind those explosions though (Same with School Reunion. Did I miss something, or did the school just randomly explode?). Cyber Controller design was pretty groovy though, along with his Big Chair of Doom. And I too was pretty surprised Mickey stayed, although I can sorta understand the reasoning from the productive side of things. Still, this is like the fifth time he's had to say goodbye to Rose now. Maybe it'll be for good this time. Not that I want it to be, since I like the character, but it gets kinda repetitive, you know?

Yeah to be honest, I'm pretty gutted Mickey stayed. Noel Clarke was a great actor and I think we could've got more out of the man

Anyway tonights episode was brilliant all that was needed was a Noooooooooooooooooooooooo as the Cyber Controller fell and that would have been perfect
