9. Pokemon (anyone remember the old series of this?) Stuart I do! Back before they needed to have at least one episode every season devoted to each Pokemon I used to be a fan of pokemon but sorry guys I think its awful now. (goes to hide from the Pokemon fans) I used to enjoy the old series but everything just got boring in series 4. I wish Ash didn't give Squirtle away. He was one of the best characters. You're right Darth BoCo. Each (or nearly) every Pokemon did get an episode to itself. Even Porygon, which he appeard in the famous banned episode.

It was aired in Japan, but intense flashes of light caused children to experience seizures, so it was banned. I once read a link to where you could view it, but I don't remember what it is, and I'm far too lazy to dig out the magazine that the link was in.

There was another Banned episode where Ash catchs loads of Turos. That eas banned becuase the game warden drew a gun to Ash's head. There was a Ducktales episode where Scrooge draws a gun to someones head but they just cut that scene out when with pokemon they just cut the whole episode out.

Yeah, they never did explain how Ash caught all those Tauros.

Really? Actually I never thought of that before. It would have explained quite a bit about some later episodes.

There was a series called Battle of the Planets where, for the US release, they actually introduced a new character to cover up the violent scenes.

Yeah, I remember that show from the 100 Greatest Cartoons (not just Kids either, hehe! ). They did mention the new guy. It was a little robot who would narrate the story during the fights. Quite stupid to be honest.

After just seeing two episodes of the new Fireman Sam. In my opinion it is just plain rubbish. Sam looks older then any of the other characters when he is the main one. The fire engine has been totally changed and whats with the australian beast wrestler??? (The guy in the helicopter). Some of you may know why these are here, but having wacthed Sam quite alot in the past, I think the show has just been upgraded to Rubbish skip 1.0

Fireman Sam also used to have a lot of jokes for older people in it (not anything offensive, more 'understandably hilarious'), but the new series hardly has any. That and Dilys sounds like Paul O' Grady now.

I haven't seen the new 'Fireman Sam', but I used to love the original series, particularly the scenes with Dilys and Norman, and Dilys's well-known catchphrase:
"NORMAN!"

I reckon the new Fireman Sam episodes have gone downhill for several reasons: - The replacement of John Alderton as Narrator: I don't mind them bringing in new actors/actresses to expand the voice range, but if they could get Ken Barrie back for the new series of Postman Pat, I don't see why John Alderton couldn't return to voice at least Fireman Sam. - Loss of Sam's personality: In the old episodes, Sam was up fun loving and generally up for a laugh. In the new ones, he's a humourless stern figure, primarly there to deliver the morals. He's almost turned into The Fat Controller from recent Thomas episodes. - Moralistic endings: At the end of the most episodes, after Sam and co. save the day, the safety warning (e.g. "Don't leave birthday cake candles unattended" ) is usually stated quite plainly and obviously (and usually by Sam). In the classic episodes, the message was cleverly disguised or in some cases not said at all. It was obvious to the viewer. This makes the new eps comes across as rather preachy. - Norman: The cheeky kid has now been turned into a sort of Scrappy-Doo (and is just as annoying), and is almost always the one who gets in trouble, is rescued, and has the safety warning preached to him. - Ignored characters: Trevor's now just a bus driver, no longer an auxillary fireman. He was a great character in the old episodes, and a much loved source of comic relief, but has been relegated to the sidelines in favour of Penny, who's now even duller than she was in the old episodes! The same goes for Station Officer Steele, who no longer accompanies and Sam and Elvis on rescues. That's generally what I feel is wrong with the new series. No surprises that it was produced by HIT Entertainment! Looking at the list, it sounds quite similar to what they've done to Thomas - morals, personality changes, ignored characters etc. They sure know how to kill classic shows The only good points I can think of are the improved animation and sets. Some of the original music is still heard, which also nice, and the new rendition of the theme song is reasonable.

I remember some of the old episodes. I watched a new episode the other day and thought it was quite good, but perhaps this was just the RESPECT FOR GORDON equivalent (RFG is, IMO, the best S9 episode) of the particular series. Still, if it's by HiT, then I can't see it being much good. PS - Same with Postman Pat. It's still funny and has good moments, but it's not as good as it was.

I can understand, boys, about Fireman Sam. I saw an advert about it, and everything just looked... different. Well, that's HIT Entertainment for you.

Some time ago, I went onto another forum (which has since closed) and they werem't too happy about Fireman Sam. They didn't like the over-emphasis on the Welsh accents.
Personally, I have some complaints against new Fireman Sam. First of all, the mixed race family. This is a show about saving lives and subtle morals about fire safety. Instead In one ep, the girl gets ill and can't go to some sort of carnival. Later she gets presented with a carnival outside of her house. This isn't what Fireman Sam should be about. There is too much emphasis on children. Furthermore, Fireman Sam is NOT the place for different races in life, those things should be learnt from reality (and the BBC News), not a show with puppets (please excuse me if I'm kinda ranting, and I am not trying to be racist, what's gone on here is the curse of Political Correctness!).
Second of all, Elvis is suffering from "Percy-the-small-engine" syndrome, i.e. he's become dumb. In one episode, Officer Steel tells Elvis that he was meant to pretend to get his hand stuck in the metal fence. He then apologises in this dumb voice (which you have to admit kinda suits his new character). In earlier stories Elvis did do silly things, but at least he was an intelligent person. In one story (I have a large book with a collection of stories by Buzz Books) Elvis decides to fry nuts instead of the usual method in order to impress Penny with his cooking (oooh). Unfortunately, he forgets to refill Jupiter's water tank and then remembers to Officer Steel is to perform an inspection, and immediately rushes out to clean Jupiter, only to forget his cooking, and starts a pan fire. Sam put out the fire and Elvis says he was only trying to experiment, even though they're unhealthy. Notice how subtle the moral is of leaving a chip-pan fire unattended, whilst Penny gives out a moral that fried food isn't healthy.
HiT Entertainment seems to be intent on wrecking shows. Pingu has had its music changed and the opening titles redone, so I should know (I saw some classic episodes with redone music in Malaysia a few months ago). I also recently saw in a trailer a small smidge of toilet hmour...
