I know I said somewhere in here that I am an Apple enthusiast, but I'll be more specific in saying that it's a MacBook with a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Also, I have a question (this may not be the right thread for this, but hear me out): a lot of times, my screen starts to flicker for no apparent reason. For this reason, I usually keep my screen at half brightness. Any reason people know of that could cause a laptop screen to flicker? And does using half brightness do anything to prevent the screen from breaking?

The problem in question was the connections between the computer itself and the screen were old and loose, and sometimes they'd act up. But my iBook was ancient, and if you have a MacBook, which I'm guessing is relatively new, that shouldn't be the case. I dunno if keeping the screen at half brightness does anything for it. If you have an Apple Store anywhere near you, I recommend taking your computer in and letting them have a look at it. They should be able to tell you what's wrong.

Compaq Presario for me, runs at 2.13 GHz, has a (this is going to make you snort) an S3 ProSavage DDR 32MB Graphics card, AMD Athlon XP 2600 Processor, and 736 MB of RAM. Not the best computer in the world when you want to play TS2009.

I recently bought an Asus EeePC 1008ha This is the thinnest and lightest netbook save for the Sony P-series on the market. It is designed to be carried around everywhere which is how I intend to use it. There won't be any video editing on this one (My Thinkpad will handle the heavy stuff like that), but thus far it has handled everything I've thrown at.

I know I should've posted this earlier, but I've got a new eMachines computer which was made just last year. My old one had viruses.

My laptop is a HP Pavillion dv6000. I gave it a half gig more of ram and it still runs well after 4 years (knock on wood*)

My current compy is an Advent all-in-one Desktop. Runs like a dream - but after half a year of waiting from the Tech Guys to mend its broken cooling fan, I opted to nab me a MacBook Pro (for just such an emergency), which is superbly fun! All it needs is a Windows OS installed alongside and life shall be sweet ;D

Cool, bootcamp! I've had an old HP Desktop with some pretty deplorable specs given to me but it makes a nice 4th addition. Turned it into a nice box to play around in Linux on. The desktop of the current flavor is Pepperment OS. I've always wanted to create a 'Post your desktop thread on here' so all my Thomas friends could share their nifty wallpapers with me. =)

Now, here's yet another problem with my computer, if anyone can guess this one: I've recently found that my computer seems to lose it's internet connection when I keep it on the table I've always kept it on for years. The further in I push it, the slower the connection. But this has never happened before.

I remember with 2008 and 2009 model MacBooks there were lots of people reporting issues with 'screen flicker' but I don't think it was verified as a widespread problem. Some people claimed to have fixed by adjusting screen settings in advanced preferences, change the screen type, say, to W. I have not heard of the Unibody MacBooks showing up with that problem however.
As for the internet connection, do you have the problem only when your on this table or also in other locations? Is you mac on wireless or wired connection and does the problem affect other computers or only yours?

Well, I have a HP Pavilion tx 1000 from a few years ago, and now I have a Toshiba Portege with 4GB memory and 500 GB RAM. "14 inch screen to boot, and my godfather partitioned it for me. I'm still keeping the other one, but I needed something for college this fall! ;D

Toshiba Portege? That's a little less common, must be an R10 or R700, pretty cool.

Sorry to post again but I'm curious about your problem warrior. I take it that the computer overheats but that's an odd approach which will cause more nasty dust to get in there and make it worse. I know this probably sounds like stuff you already know but often times overheating is caused by simple dust clogs. Have you tried taking a can of compressed air to it and blowing out the vents?

It is a wireless, Airport connection, and yes, my computer is the only affected.

Which Airport router do you have? If it happens at just the table it sound like some kind of interference. Wireless in the 2.4Ghz band is subject to much interference from bluetooth devices, microwave ovens, and cordless phones. Are any items like that on or near the table?
