No doubt one of the biggest movie and cartoon series of the 80's. Ghostbusters not only was a good film it was a great cartoon as well. It has to be the best movie turned into a cartoon. A few months time will see a new game which will be basicly Ghostbusters 3 (it should have at least been made). Ghostbusters 2 was a good film as well. Extreme Ghostbusters came out late 90's but was not as good as the original. I loved the Marsh Mallow Man who appeared at end of first movie.
Here you can also discuss who your fave was. Mine was Peter Venkman. He gets all the best line ;D Yes he does sound alot like Garfield in the cartoon. Bill Murry sort of got the voice actor fired for that reason

Ghostbusters 3 should be made. And The Car is AWSOME. Ecto-1.

Well, OJ, the reason that he sounds like Garfield is because he was Garfield. Lorenzo Music, voice actor for Garfield, also did the voice of Venkman in the cartoon series. It's too bad that Lewis isn't up there, even though he wasn't an official ghost buster, he still worked for them. And Ecto-1 is one of the coolest movie cars ever.

I did consider putting Lewis up there but decided not to as I thought people would be more familler with the original 4. Same with Slimer.
The upcoming game is going to feature most of the original cast. (Bill Murry is back guys) so it will look like a Ghostbusters movie. I just can't wait for it
It's funny Bill Murry was the voice of Garfield in the movie and Lorenzo Music voiced Peter. Half way through the series they got someone else to voice him as Bill Murry said Venkman sounded nothing like him so they got someone who did but Maurice LaMarche was great as Egon. He sounded alot like Harold Ramis

(blows bust off)
I remember before I gotten into the films, I still vague scenes from the Real Ghostbusters and didn't remember too much until I watch the films much after about 8 years ago. I think both the first and second films are great IMO.
I got the PS2 game around 4 years ago as a Christmas gift and thought it was fantastic. Because my experience with Luigi's Mansion, I didn't have any trouble with it.
It's ashamed Harold Ramis passed away last year. I would've like to see the third film he and some of the crew were planning.

A Ghostbusters reboot is being planned but it will be a female cast. I personally would like to see Extreme Ghostbusters being adapted as that was a good series and a worthy follow up. Sadly you can't have Egon as the mentor so maybe replace him with Ray could work.

I heard this about the female Ghost Buster's cast thanks to my local rock alternative station WJRR. Sounds like Ghost Buster's meets magic girl.

Must admit not looking forward to the new Ghostbusters reboot. It's going to look too much like Bridesmaids plus I don't like Melissa McCarthy. In my opinion they should have done a similar story to Extreme Ghostbusters but have Ray take Egon's place. They could have done that as if did include a female ghostbuster

I'm not really looking forward to the Ghostbusters reboot either. It's almost like Hollywood, like a lot of other corporations (e.g. DC and Marvel), is obsessed with making female interpretations of existing male characters because they're desperate to incorporate equal opportunity in their movies and don't want to get attacked by the feminists.

They could have done that as if did include a female ghostbuster I totally agree, I enjoyed the original & sequel & The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, but since hearing that this reboot is happening, it's the worst idea since the Robocop reboot, rebooting classic films with a new cast is such a cheap & sinful thing to do & an insult to the franchise, this film will be terrible Remakes are never ever as good as the originals, look at the recent remakes of classic 60's, 70's & 80's horror films such as Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, Friday The 13th & A Nightmare On Elm St, all of these have been awful & not as good in any way compared to the originals, what's next remakes of Back To The Future & Alien, I really hate remakes of classic films, stupid waste of time remaking good classic films This idiot Paul Feig who is directing the Ghostbusters reboot is effectively going to ruin this once good franchise & when this reboot is released, the worst part is that kids who have no knowledge of the 1984 original are going to put it down in place of this newer film being released to the masses, it's a great dishonour & an insult to the memory of the late great Harold Ramis, it's very sad indeed that this film is being made Well, I for one will not be seeing it, I'm a man of my word, I will not give this film any of my money at all

Wise words thomasfansince1983. but on the bright side this is a reboot so it will be very easy to ignore it. Paul Feig can't take away the original away from us. We'll always remember that. His version we will forget
I've found this clip online which I found hilarious

I've found this clip online which I found hilarious Hahahaha, I saw that clip, nice one & yes, exactly & thankyou OJ, I mean I grew up with Ghostbusters, as much as I grew up with Thomas & Friends & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so when I heard this was happening, I chose to wipe it from my mind as best I could, very pleased that you & me both are singing from the same song sheet, I finally saw the original 1984 film on the big screen last year, I had seen it numerous times on TV,VHS,DVD & Blu Ray, but on the big screen for the first time was so cool, however I did see Ghostbusters II in 1989 in the cinema, my first film at the cinema as a matter of fact, love The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series too, I have the complete collection DVD set which I got 5 years ago from Ebay, anyway I hate reboots, I saw some pics of the new Ecto 1 & the Proton Pack & they both look horrendous & the jumpsuits are even worse, the orange ribbons around them are also equally horrendous, I hope that this film fails at the box office, nice to know that I am not alone in my opinions, thanks again mate

Believe me thomasfansince1983, you are not the only one who is against the reboot. Loads of people are. I'm certain there's going to be a huge group of people who won't be seeing it.
I love the original. Not seen Ghostbusters 2 that much although I don't remember it being as good but it still had that Ghostbusters feel to it so I would say that was a worthy follow up. Apparently Bill Murray looked bored during his performance and he was reluctant to do a third film which was the reason why it was never made.
Loved Real Ghostbusters as ell. To me that was the best animated version of a movie franchise we've ever got (Back to the Future was good as well) Every character but Dana appeared in that series. Even the Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man and nemesis Walter Peck got to appear.
Heard Recently Peter Venkman will be appearing in the upcoming Lego Dimensions game. Who will be voicing him? No Not Bill Murray. Frank Welker. Yes he voiced Slimer and Ray in Real Ghostbusters but like Lorenzo Music he recently voiced Garfield.

Thanks & yes it's true that RGB was the best animated version of a film franchise, along with BTTF, the only other that comes close is Batman The Animated Series, which was great too I think that Bill Murray not doing GB3, was the main reason why that film never took off, plus poor Harold Ramis passing away last February, to me the next best idea for a third Ghostbusters film would have been to have Dan Akroyd & Ernie Hudson return as Dr Ray Stantz & Winston Zeddemore teaching a course of Ghostbusting to a group of students from Columbia University, in other words this could play out similar to the 1st Extreme Ghostbusters episode from that cartoon series which was called "Darkness At Noon" That would have been a much better true fan friendly film than the nonsense that Paul Feig is doing

Bill Murray has now been confirmed to appear in this Ghostbusters reboot. So he's willing to do that but he didn't want to appear in Ghostbusters 3 when a lot of people including Ramis and Ackroyd wanted it. What a strange man.

Bill Murray has grown to become an idiot in recent years, first he says no to GB, then yes, the guy has lost the plot, face facts, the only time I ever thought he would consider stepping back into Venkman's uniform again was when he did that cameo in the film Zombie Land, this GB reboot is still going to be awful none the less, I shall continue to avoid it like the plague, what a load of nonsense, reboots never really work out for the best anyway.

I really HATE the way this franchise is being destroyed, the reason there was & never will be a GB3 is because hardly any of the original cast & crew members cared or even expressed interest & enthusiasm to begin with, which is why that project has been as dead as the dinosaurs since 1998.
Plus I can't help but worry that this remake will kill the Ghostbusters franchise in the same way that the Star Wars Prequels killed that franchise, although Revenge Of The Sith was alright.
What is the next tragedy in store, before we know it other great 80's film franchises such as Back To The Future & Indiana Jones may be remade, this is all rather tedious.
Also I read somewhere that the classic 1980's action adventure tv series "The A Team" is being remade, as a huge fan of that series, I am shocked, I mean the 2010 film with new cast was fun, but seriously Hollywood is running out of ideas, they must leave these franchises alone, it's a shame, it really is, feel like I'm going to go away & cry.

I understand you're concern thomasfansince1983 but as we've said before we'll always have OUR Ghostbusters. Ramis and Ackroyd were interested in Ghostbusters 3. Those two wanted it. I'm sure Ernie Hudson would have done it. We all know who didn't want to do it and that was why it didn't happen. This is why I've gone off Bill Murray a bit. He's depraved us all of a third one. Ghostbusters 2 while not as good as the first one does have it's fans.
Not sure if you've heard thomasfansince1983 but most of the original Ghostbusters cast will have cameos in this reboot. They've recently got Ernie "if there's a steady paycheck in it I'll believe anything you say" Hudson and Annie "I've quit better jobs then this" Potts. Even got Sigourney Weaver back. No Rick Moranis he's not interested.
Paule Feage has recently resorted to swearing at a fan on Twitter. He's in the wrong job if he can't hack it.
I'm hoping people will just forget about the reboot once is released. I do hope it wins a lot of Razzie awards. (worst director Paul Feage I hope is one) and that does indeed look likely. They remade Karate Kid a few years back I couldn't see it as it was too much like the original. Not sure I can see the rumoured Short Circuit remake as well.
Good news for you I heard Back to the Future will never get a remake. I mean who could do a job as good as Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd? I tell you. Nobody.

Cheers OJ, yes I seem to remember Ramis & Aykroyd expressing interest, after Ramis passing away last year, the franchise should have just been left alone, yes Bill Murray has lost the plot indeed, he's an idiot.
Yes I did hear that everyone else aside from Rick Moranis agreed, obviously they all did it for the money, I still won't see this film though, in my opinion I think that it will be an insult to Ramis memory.
I HATE those new jumpsuits, they look like bad costumes, those orange stripes, yuck, they look disgusting, the Ecto 1 looks horrible, like it's a cheap cobbled together fan made version, not a patch on the original & as for the new Proton Pack, well that looks horrible too.
Paul Feig is an idiot, hahaha, I had also heard that one, I think the fan was right, good on him, Paul Feig's films are all the same sludge again & again anyway.
Me too, no remake has ever surpassed the original, I saw the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street in 2010 & thought it was awful.
Good to hear that Back To The Future will be left alone, marvellous news.

"No remake has ever surpassed the original" I'd have to disagree for there have been alot of movies that have been remade that have outdone the original. It's not as rare as you think, the problem is the market gets over saturated with all these crappy remakes like NOES, etc. The 1982 remake of The Thing definitely surpassed the original, I'd have to say the Fly( 1986) did as well granted these are horror movies but still I'd say they count.
I don't know, the Ghostbuster's reboot could work, it could not. I have a friend who loves and adores Ghostbusters and at first he was upset with the direction that the reboot was going but now he's sold on, mostly because of the cameos and the actors. I feel it's an interesting way to go about it, i'm pretty sure there will be nods to the original. I'm not surprised that they'd update everything but alot of the new props have that kitbashed feel that the original had. All I'm saying is you never know. It might surprise us.
