All of a sudden, my computer is randomly getting popups. I've not visited any websites I don't usually visit (and have never had problems with them) and I suddenly am getting pop-up after pop-up after pop-up. Occasionally, the window will open endless tabs all to one site, rendering the window unresponsive. GRRRRRRRRRR! that happens to me too! it really sucks.

I am furious.....I am REALLY furious!
I just heard that parents in the UK want the BBC to fire a one-armed children's TV presenter because she's scaring their children. I can't believe it! Just because she has one arm doesn't mean she's a bad person!
Don't get me wrong, I don't blame the BBC. I blame those f***ing idiotic parents who think that this is a better solution than sitting their children down and telling them all about disabilities. These people make me sick!
But this goes beyond a tv presenter being fired because of her disability. Eventually, the kids of these f***wits will start school. And if what their parents have taught them sticks in their minds, they will become the next generation of bullies, picking on anyone who's diferent. Just the thought of it makes my blood boil!
This must not be allowed to happen! If Cerrie Burnell (the presenter) is fired, it will send a very negative message to children all over the UK. If she's saved, the nightmare that many disabled school students (including me) have gone through could be avoided for the next generation.
I am going to write to the BBC and encourage them not to give in to the demands of these pathetic excuses for parents. If you feel the same way I do, I suggest you do the same.
By the way, I saw this in a video, not an article. If I find one, I'll post it here.
EDIT:
I found a video about it:
And I wrote to the BBC. Let's see what happens. It may interest you to know that I suggested they do a special episode of the show about disabilities. That way, everyone's happy.

Speaking as somebody who is also disabled, I seriously hope the BBC don't fire Cerrie Burnell. People with disabilities deserve equal treatment. Those parents also seem to suffer a lapse of judgment. I hope your letter to the BBC is successful, Tim, and I wish you good luck with it. My blood's boiling as well.

Oh man, good luck with that letter, Tim! Just reading your explanation of the situation made me angry! That's just... awful. And illegal, probably; I mean, that's discrimination, so it should be illegal, right? It's another case of lazy parents who'd rather do stupid things than actually teach their kids anything... and this poor woman is on the receiving end of it... ugh...

I would just like to give my 2 pence over the amputated childrens presenter.
It is the parents who have been banning the children from watching the amputated woman, not the kids complaining about they've been scared.
It's a sad sign of the times you know, to think children will get scared over an amputated woman. Yes, they'll ask questions, but nightmares? When you're a child you're more likely to be freaked out over Thomas crashing into the stationmaster's house or being exterminated by Daleks - fictional events.
And has it bothered the parents to ask the children if they're scared of her. And shouldn't we be teaching children there are all sorts of disabilities out there in reality?
Also, this lady hasn't made an jokes about having sex with anyone's daughters (Johnathan Ross!) or called anyone a golliwog (forgot her name) or taken out her private parts live on tv (John Barrowman!! though he did it live on radio), and here she is in hot water.
As I said last night on Facebook (when I was ranting over how Rogue Traders was taken off so we could have some tribute over some woman who'd been in some awful soap opera) the BBC have seriously got to get their priorities straight.

I am in total agreement with Tim, Jarrah White, Aiden, Little Engine, and Cranky.
My big bro cannot walk, and we don't treat him like a freak, as he is plenty smart, and does not rely on others to take care of him. If anyone were to intentionally discriminate against him, me and both my sisters(Much older, and not much younger) would hand that bigot there ass... And my big sister has a black belt in Tie Kwan Do...

What kind of parents are these?! Do they just say to their kid "Okay, sit down in front of the TV, and learn all you need to about life!"
F*** that, that's a sign of laziness and ignorance. My parents told me that a disabled of different person is still a person, and I agree with all of you on this issue. They're discriminating because their kid's are scared? Then get off your @$$ and teach them that people with disabilities are no different then anyone else!

This journalist has her head screwed on right: www.guardian.co.uk/culture/tvandradioblog/2009/feb/24/cerrie-burnell-tv-disability-cbeebiesIt makes me absolutely furious to see this kind of attitude on display in the twenty-first century. Does Cerrie's disability make her any less qualified for the work she does? Of course not. Is a big issue made of her disability on TV? No again. She's a presenter who happens to be disabled, much as she also happens to be wavy-haired and blue-eyed. Yet the fact that she has one arm, to these people, makes her some kind of freak. I work in a children's hospital with kids who are, in many cases, far more severely disabled than Cerrie. Are these idiots going to tell them that they're "scary"? Are they going to tell them that because they're different, they should hide away where no one can see them? People like this deserve several ringing slaps upside the head, and I'd be more than happy to oblige. Why is it that attacking someone for their disability is more acceptable than attacking someone for race or religion? I have a friend who uses a wheelchair, and I was shocked at the comments she received while we were out and about. One elderly gent actually felt the need to come up to her and go "Vroom, vroom!" and I must admit that I really lost it. Sorry to rant, but you know how it is.

I don't blame anyone for being pissed. This kind of behavior is so immature, the only people who are going to look stupid are the 9 brainless @$$holes who lodged these complaints in the first place...

I wrote a message on the comments board with a cleaned-up version of my views. Fortunately, it seems that the great majority of commenters support Cerrie.

I read an article in the London Lite where apparently, a five year old kid stabbed his sister after playing a "Power Rangers "knife throw" video game".
Riddle me this - since when do the Power Rangers use knives?
The answer - NEVER! Bladed weapons yes, but knives, no.
It is articles like these that have not done proper research that put me off from following a career path into journalism, you'd have to tell nonsense like this.

One thing I hate about technology forums is how there is always something to lust after and how hard it kicks me when something newer, prettier, and fancier than what I have comes out. If I had only waited a little longer, I could have gotten this bad boy. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152099Oh well, in the end I made the right decision when I got my Thinkpad. Particularly seeing the hell the new Dell Studio XPS owners are experiencing with Dell having put the exhaust vents in such a place the low mounted screens block them causing serious overheating issues.

Blacklion's closed thread earned a point which ought to be discussed in here, but being a TV enthusiast I'm very much in the know about the decline of ITV over the past decade. The channel has been going even more rock bottom since last year as they've cut back on local news services and closing down studio complexes around the region. Very recently they've shut down the studios in Leeds, best known for producing Countdown, 3-2-1, the Raggy Dolls, etc. and this is all being done by a veteran TV executive who claims this is all part of the turnaround plan to better the channel. Frankly the one aspect I hate about it most is that it trashed it's regional identity over the years, which made up the bulk of ITV since the beginning and ignorant auction bids and takeovers are what caused it to dive even further. Some of you don't know what is in Cranky Connor's signature but last year was the 40th anniversary of two of the companies Thames & LWT. Sadly their milestone wasn't widely celebrated on the channel but if they were still around then they would certainly pull off a party along with a week of their archived gold from the last four decades with special idents. Unfortunately that did not happen at all on ITV1.
