Blasted Michigan rainy weather. After I toiled to get all my Christmas lights put up a fortnight ago they short out on CHRISTMAS EVE!!!
The stupid rain short circuited the outlet ended extension cord resulting in me having to scramble to find an alternate cord and to jerry rig the the light sets together while being careful not to overload the much smaller cord.
Before this even happened I had a feeling the three day rainstorm was going to cause this to happen. JUST MY LUCK!

I feel like the only sport that people talk about in the US is football, it's incredibly boring and it's got too much money, there's never any news about Baseball, even when it's in season, it's always FUBAL FUBAL FUBAL!

I get that building maintenance where I work has to happen sometime. I mean for all I know the corporation I work for's version of the Fat Controller could be breathing down my neck sitting with me tomorrow and somehow no one has given me any kind of warning or memo. But people work in this building every day from 7am-2am. And they close cafeteria this weekend for waxing the floors cutting off everyone's access to the eating area and the Microwaves? Excuse me for being from the culinary school of the Lean Cuisine. So annoying... Looks like I'm eating out today.

So far, my life is one step from going from bliss, to complete insanity!
First off, when I try to get a conversation started, usually it dies after like, several seconds. And I can barely stand being in the same house with my younger brother for another month! Middle of August, school usually starts for me.
Back to my brother. He always tries to be better at me, and I blame what he watches on the computer, always saying he is more smarter and better at everything than me! And we always get in fights and arguments that either he or I start! GGGGAAAHHHHHHH!!!!
Glad I got that off my chest.

* SLAMS beer on bar, bar shatters* Here's something that's driving me insane lately. Google Maps. Now, in its heyday, it was an excellent product. I used it for all my amateur cartographing needs, and when I began working on a street map of a fictional city of mine, I actually used it as a scale - this was what I got when I zoomed in sufficiently enough. April 2013. Fig. 1 - The old scaleAnd it worked. The entirety of my city's scaling was based off of this image. Then... Google pulled a classic Google and decided to fix things that weren't broken. Much as Google+ ruined Youtube, some unwanted changes came onto Google Maps. It started when they updated the style of symbols used to denote institutions. At the same time, they also abandoned the color coded streets (yellow for major streets, white for minor streets). Fortunately, I had managed to save most of the symbols to my computer before the change happened, but I couldn't help wonder... why? Fig. 2 - Old (left) and new (right) symbolsThen I got the idea to include an area in my city based off of a place I had grown up in, as a way of paying tribute to where I had come from. So I loaded up the place on Google Maps, and took a screenshot. This was back in March. Unfortunately, I work slow, so I didn't (and still haven't) finished, but I began to look to get more screenshots to continue, and I found that, for some reason, there is a lot less greenery shown than before! Compare the two shots: Fig 3 - Old mapFig 4 - New mapI was just perplexed when I saw this had happened. I am big on details, so this just really annoyed me. What was the point of even getting rid of this? Did the giant green hill somehow distract users? Now, if you look at the map you can't tell if the greyness is fields (which it's not), a random patch of concrete (which it's not), a factory (which it's not) or a giant hole into Mordor. ... which it's not. Oddly enough, the hill is still visible if you zoom out far enough. But for some reason, if you zoom in, it disappears. Because the hill is a well guarded secret that needs to be kept? Honestly! But it gets worse. The size of an individual street on a map depends on how big your window that you have open is. If it's only taking up half your monitor, any given street could be larger or smaller in size than if you had the map open in a full window. And there's more... The scale from figure 3 is actually larger than the first scale I harvested back in 2013. So although I have made progress on the drawing of the real place in my city, the scale is still off when compared to the drawings that were found on Google Maps back in 2013. I am really big on details like this, and if the scaling of something I include on the map is off in relation to the rest of the map, it just really annoys me. Fig 5 - Old scale (above), scale from figure 3 (below)TL;DR - Google Maps has been going down the toilet since 2013. But this doesn't seem to be a problem with just Google, a lot of companies, like Flickr, also update their products with far crappier looking interfaces than before, and then ignore all community input on why the change was not only unnecessary, but also just plain bad. I naively tried to use the Wayback Machine to load an archive of a Google Map from 2013, and I thought the old ways would be restored. They weren't. EDIT: All right, I fixed the problem with the scaling, I scaled it down to 92%, and all should be fine. The vegetation is gonna be a tougher nut to crack.

I have a superficial knowledge of web map viewer apps based on related work I do with the gov't. For performance purposes, map viewer authors often set a min-max scale range for layers to appear on a map. I think that is what's happening with your vegetation layer. It's much the same way with how they use min max scale settings with 'generalized' or cached layers at higher scales, then you notice more detail and more spatially refined features as you zoom in. It always boils down to a matter of 'garbage in garbage out' in terms of data quality if the data layers originate from various sources and data collection standards. Grrr.

I wonder why they had to cut the vegetation layer out from the up close viewings, especially since they're still there if you zoom out sufficiently (which is why recreating the vegetation layers on my map will be much harder now, but not impossible). That's the way things are, though, I suppose! I wonder what goes on in the minds of the people who engineered this change (and that applies for the rest of the changes, as well as for Flickr) - I wonder if they genuinely think the community is pleased with these developments or if they just don't care? Even before, though, GM was really weird with what is seen when zoomed in. In the old versions, the borders of things would disappear when zoomed in sufficiently, which is fine for countries but not for cities, where it becomes hard to tell which part of the map is the city and which part is not. This is one part the new maps manages to get right (mostly), though.

Now this just pisses me off, lately I've been finding small gaps in my schedule which allows me to edit 'Heat Stroke' my upcoming short on YouTube on NCH's videopad. But for some f***i#n reason I just run into issue after issue. Image previews won't show up and get blacked out. Then, it keeps crashing and freezing, an absolute pain. It says, incompatable application, but what the hell is that suppose to mean!?!?!
Ugh, honestly, this gives me such a headache...

Here's something that ticks me off: Weird N' Wild Creatures Wiki It's not my site, but it IS my favorite card series, and the comments are just ****ing annoying. Random wiki users post random comments about random cards. What the ****?! One person has actually said, "I need someone to **** me." I mean, what point is there in that? It's a kid friendly wiki for crying out loud!! Comments like that aren't even related to Weird N' Wild Creatures! And lots of times people don't even read the cards. One person asked, "What size is it?" It said it on the ****ing card!! Sorry for ranting, but this just ticks me off.

I know this is a dead thread, but it is a useful one. Okay. I'm a curler (the sport where you throw 44 lb rocks made of granite down a sheet of ice to a target at the other end). You know. This guy will demonstrate. I curl at a competitive level, and fortunate to be in an area where competition is at a high level. I attend a University in Western Canada with a strong curling program; they've produced 3 World Junior champion teams over the last 5 years, as well as a bronze medal at the 2013 World University games, as well as prepping a team to compete at the 2017 Word University games. Over the last couple years, I've been under that University's curling umbrella. Last year, I was in their juvenile (U18) program, and narrowly missed out on representing my province at the Canada Winter Games (and, as it turned out, missed playing on TV by one game!) This year, I was on the Junior development team (as opposed to the true Junior Varsity team). Tryouts are tomorrow, (and the whole tryout drama is another story!) so I've been at the rink several times over the last month working individually and with teammates to make sure I am at the absolute best I can be. There is a head coach there (who we will refer to as Steve). Steve has won a lot as a coach, and has developed a few world class curlers from their junior days. Unfortunately, he has also burned several bridges along the pathway to his success. He hasn't treated me with a whole lot of respect, similar to most other people at my level. It is only when you make it up to the high ranks where you "earn" his respect. (lol) Yesterday as I was leaving the ice, he was walking towards me because we were using the same door to exit. We were no more than 5 feet away from each other when I smile at him and nod as a friendly greeting. What does he do? Maintains his stone cold look on his face, looks away, walks through the door that I am following him through (remember, we are approx. 5 feet away), and doesn't hold it open for me. I don't care who you are; you hold a door open for someone who is right behind you. I don't care who you are; you nod (or make some other friendly acknowledgement) when someone smiles and nods to you. The player/coach relationship is very important in success and growing as an athlete. It is these relationships where you can make friends and network out to different players/places in the curling world. Curling is unique in that there is not really any cut throat thoughts among players. Everyone is friendly. Teammates shuffle around a lot, so your arch enemy on the ice can be your teammate next year and vise versa, so it's important to keep healthy relationships among all the players and coaches you meet. It is because of the incredible unwelcome feel that I have experienced from Steve over the last 2 years that I am quite upset. I do enjoy the program (and have a great appreciation and friendship with 3 other high level coaches in the program), but it was the actions of Steve that pushed me over the line yesterday. Part of me wants to boycott the tryouts tomorrow, but that would hurt my chances of staying competitive on a good team for the foreseeable seasons, and definitely end any chance I have of playing Varsity, and ultimately my chances at going to the World University games, something that I have on my curling bucket list. I'm amazed that with all this power and success that he has become like this. It is sad, but at the rink, almost every conversation ends up with the people looking over their shoulders and begin talking about "the most recent act of Steve" or "the newest person he kicked off". If he is alright with this amount of people not respecting him and burning all these bridges to win, let him have it. But trophies, medals, and banners can't mourn him after he's gone; That's What Friends Are For

Hit me up...it's been a while since the last time I've been here
I don't know if I can say I'm so much angry as I am disappointed. For the longest time I was inspired by Upsidenow, Michael, Tyrone, Tines, Tuggster and many others to try and recreate Thomas the Tank Engine themes. I've got all these great ideas for themes. The first one I've tried to make and I still haven't finished is the Flying Kipper theme (season 4). It's just been false start after false start for me trying to compose the epic theme I envisioned in my mind. Between files getting corrupted, computer crashes, to either Mixcraft or my computer just giving up on me (I don't know which). I tried having a go at it again today and nothing seemed to click for me. I want to keep trying, but right now my heart just isn't in it.

Intense exercise, shower, meal, 1 beer and 3 consecutive cups of green tea in that order and you'll be chilled out much.
What gets on my nerves is basic stuff going peetong in the 21st century. You'd think by nlw curtains, crisp packets, zips, latches and other basic inventions world work reliably and frustration free by now but nooooeeew.

eBay sellers who suddenly stop communication. Screw them.
So I see an ERTL lot with a first-edition Gordon out of package, VGC (Henry and Thomas, too.) The auction's been relisted at least twice, and I message the guy to see if he'd be willing to sell Gordon separately. Three days later, "sure I dunno which one he is but yeah I could sell it separate to you." Been six days since I replied right afterwards to get a price to work out, and radio silence to my messages every 2 days inquiring about what's up on his end. Safe to say that I'll have to keep looking.

First world problems. When I order something from Amazon with the prime 2 day shipping and get the email that says, "Its been delivered" but then I can't find it anywhere at my door or in the mailbox or in the house. Was it stolen? Did one of my crappy neighbors take it and burn it? I know we haven't been getting along so well do to the car issues. We have too many cars and no where to park them all between me, my roommates', one of my roommates committing some kind of fraud by hiding his uncle's Camero which is due to get repossessed in our garage and the neighbors' huge butt family that seems to have like 7 cars. Nope, check the tracking number and its still in Washington State. Gives me flashbacks of when I tried to overnight something with DHL back when they were a real postal carrier and that didn't quite work out. DHL then told me their overnight shipping is a promise to try harder to get my package to point B faster... for more money.

Sometimes, I really hate music fans lol
1) Musical snobs. In the last year, I've listened to some classic albums, including Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper's by The Beatles, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel, and Pinkerton by Weezer, and I didn't like any of them - the former three were boring as tar, and the latter had excruciatingly asinine lyrics. I can respect these albums for the impact that they made on music history, but they are certainly not something I got any enjoyment out of whatsoever. My musical tastes are more "uncool", and consist mostly of pop and pop rock. I have my share of issues with a lot of pop music, and how it can frequently be cynical and artless, but in my view, the closest parallels to pop music are animated CGI movies. Occasionally, a gem comes along that is infinitely satisfying to the ears, but does not sacrifice artistry, good songwriting, or passion. There is no shortage of people on the internet who would consider me idiotic for the words I have just written, and say that my opinion is somehow less valid than theirs, and while I am, of course, not ashamed in the slightest for liking the music that I do like, it can still get very frustrating to have elitists on the internet insulting you for it. I don't look for music that is the most cutting edge or experimental - as far as I'm concerned, as long as something is decently catchy, comes from a real place and is delivered by someone who is decently talented, I'm satisfied, and I think if someone can't accept the fact that people look for different things in music they do, it's absolutely shameful.
I used to be like this, back in 2011 I was your stereotypical pop hating teenager and I like to think I've moved past that place in my life and it's really frustrating to see other people still in this mindset. I'm not saying you have to like pop, frankly I don't really care, but just because something is popular or not experimental enough for you doesn't give you the right to insult people for liking it.
2) When the phrase "selling out" is thrown around for no reason. At this point, I think the phrase has become so watered down that it's essentially lost all meaning. If an artist moves in a poppier sounding direction, they're a sell out. If an artist makes the same stuff over and over again, they're also sell outs. I think that to accuse someone of selling out is colossally arrogant, as it makes assumptions that the shift in sound was specifically for monetary gain, rather than because that was a sound that the artist wanted to experiment with. While I understand why someone would prefer a band's older sound, I think it's quite grotesque to expect them to stick to the same sounds that you like forever, and saying that they have lost their artistic integrity because they made music you don't like the sound of is asinine.
3) The flipside to that is when an artist disavows an older album in their discography, like Linkin Park, who recently said that fans need to "move the f**k on from the Hybrid Theory (?)* era". You shouldn't recreate the same sound over and over again to appease a certain subset of your fans, but telling someone they should "move on" from an album that they love and that means a lot to them is a really dumb thing to say as well. What is the problem with someone still resonating with something that you made almost 20 years ago? I can't imagine under what circumstances this is a justifiable thing to say to someone.
* I think that was the album, I haven't listened to LP's discography so I'm not sure.

There aren't many things that annoy me greatly but people who bag dog poo up irk me. If you're in a park or somewhere public and are going to depose it fine, good on ya, but it's when they drop it on the pavement or leave it hanging from a fence etc...why it's so stupid! Even if they weren't going to kick the poo out of the way from say a commonly used footpath and let nature decompose it I'de be happier if they just left the dog poo where it fell instead rather than expect someone to collect their bag or for the birds to peck it open and leave an even bigger mess.

Solution: just don't let your dog duke in a highly-traveled or awkward place. As someone raising a pup, I can confirm that carrying a full poop bag is one of the least pleasant things one can be compelled to do. The bags don't hold the smell in, and god forbid if it's not solid; in which case I just leave it where it is. tl;dr dogs pooping in public is a no-win situation for everyone but the original pooper

Well if a dog i'm walking does do his business on someone's patch or somewhere unideal I usually just use a few clumps of grass to pick it up and then dispose of it somewhere else, easy. Runny stuff I haven't really had to deal with but in such a case i'd probably smoother it with picked grass and use my foot to mash it about, two or three days later it will either of blown away or disintegrated. Anyway i'm posting now because I just got eBay sniped! Nothing wrong with it as such as i'll stoop to the same tactics if need be but when you're the only bidder until the last 7 seconds and someone counters your stand by raise (I'm not referring to the max bid) with such a substantial amount it catches you off guard and then time is up before you can regroup. It's just really frustrating when it's something quite rare. Also Sods law-I lost my mobile but refused to buy a new one as I knew it would turn up. About a month and a half later I finally admitted defeat, bought a new one and then within 6hours guess what I spotted! I'm quite chillaxed in general but these kind of scenarios are uncannily cruel.
