i would give you my list, but how about a story instead? yes, gather round children, as I'm about to tell you the tale called "Apple: YOU SUCK!!"
Here's how it goes: So, I got my ipod mini for Christmas last year. Worked fine for the first couple of days, until one day, I tried uploading a song onto it and all of the current songs GOT DELETED FOR NO F***ING REASON.
Luckily, they have a return policy. I try uploading a song onto it. Now, who can guess what happens?
Random kid: The same thing happens?
Thaaaaaaat's right!
Present day: I have a new one, but nothing on it because I'm afraid the same thing'll happen again.
Anybody learn anything from this little story?
random kid: ipods suck?
Close. But the answer I'm looking for is Apple sucks.
BTW Tristan, great selection!

NOTE: I am a sucker for songs from the 80s. MORE SPECIFIC NOTE: he is a sucker for bad 80's one-hit-wonders. It's like watching VH1's "100 Best 80's Songs" and "100 Best One-Hit Wonders" all over again. ;D lol Stepneydude. Rick Astley, Tiffany... gosh, I don't know where to begin. j/k that's more extensive than my 80's stuff. I only have I Melt with You, Maniac, Sister Christian, Take on Me... yeah. I think we have a little bit of 80s in all of us.

Just inherited a phone that can store music. I'm in the iPod age at last!
Cocteau Twins - from the first album "Garlands" - Blood b*tch, And I'm Not - from their first Peel session - Feather-Oar-Blades The first This Mortal Coil EP - Song to the Siren - 16 Days Gathering Dust - 16 Days Gathering Dust (reprise)
- Pearly Dewdrops Drops (mainstream by then - lost the gothic attack, but a nice tune)
and the sublime Liz Fraser vocals on Massive Attack's "Mezzanine" - Group Four - Teardrop - Black Milk
In amongst the other female vocals on the first 3 Massive Attack albums: Shara Nelson - Unfinished Sympathy, Lately, Safe from Harm Tracey Thorne - Better Things, Protection Nicolette - Three, Sly Sarah Jay - Dissolved Girl
And some archaeology. Thanks mostly to YouTube:
Rolling Stones - We Love You Gloria Jones - Tainted Love (stomping, primitive Motown version) Inordinate space for the Small Faces: - Grow Your Own (driving Booker-T-ish instrumental) - E Too D - Watcha Gonna Do About It - Hey Girl - Afterglow (of your love) and three from their pinnacle album, "Ogden's Nutgone Flake" - The Journey - Rollin' Over - Song of a Baker
and a bunch of other stuff - to test the phone's storage capacity there is
Genesis - Supper's Ready (23 mins) Beethoven - 6th Symphony (The Pastoral - 55 mins)

lol Stepneydude. Rick Astley, Tiffany... gosh, I don't know where to begin. Darn, I forgot to add Chesney Hawkes and Buffalo G to the list! Not from the 80s, but d**n are they even worse. 80s in all of us... a bit too much in me, it seems. At least I have plenty of rock to balance it out... man, I'm also a sucker for "definitive" songs, if you understand: like how I have "Money for Nothing" for Dire Straits rather than one of their lesser-known hits like "Boat On The River" and "Never Gonna Give You Up" for Rick Astley rather than "Strong, Strong Man". I'm so bland and unimaginative...

Same with me. I'm too cheap to buy the albums from each artist (with few exceptions), I just get the greatest hits collections. Which suits me just fine.

Just added: This started with a few tunes from Suzi Quatro. Reading about Joan Jett and her whining about being the first girl rock n roller, remembering back to the 70s and Suzi Q's glam Chinnichap stomp, which sound as rocking as ever - "Can the Can", "Devil Gate Drive". Wonders of the Youtube, two gems I was unaware of, "Evie" and "Rock Hard"
Joan's big hit was also originally from the glam era. "I Love Rock n Roll" by the Arrows.
Thinking of "Suzi Q", tracked down the CCR version of that tune. Don't usually like their stuff, but this rocks.
Thinking of other girl bassists, fast forward to 1988 and the Pixies' Kim Deal - spoilt for choice here, like the White Stripes, the Pixies sound good in any context, any tune, played in an old shed or anywhere. Settled on "Dead" from the 1st LP
And Kim's next band the Breeders, she's given the bass to Josephine Wiggs and taken the guitars. "Cannonball".
And getting into infectious dance hits and irresistible bass licks - the B52's "Love Shack" featuring ex-Gang of 4 bassist Sara Lee.
Another great femme band of the late 80s in that 4AD scene - the Throwing Muses - "Firepile" just as well shows off the rocking guitar talents and unique voice of Kristen Hersch.
Didn't record any Joan Jett tho'.
