Casual restaurant goer? Favorite item from one of the big named fast-food/cafeteria chains? Street stalls fan? A budding/professional chef? A non-professional who wants to share or seek advice on good cooking? Watch Gordon Ramsey raging away and have things to say?
Say no more folks, I just noticed that the forums doesn't have a dedicated food thread (or if it did, can't find it) and thought it might make sense that the topic deserves it's own thread for discussion.
I'll start, made and tried Italian hot chocolate for the first time today, wasn't a fan I'm afraid. That first sip was great, but drink a whole cup and the bitter and heavy flavor, combined with the thick consistency, proved to be too much. I'd recommend it only if you're used to hard cacao laced chocolate, and if you don't mind a thick soup/pudding quality; but not for me.

Well today I went to a local Italian restaurant with my grandpa for dinner, mostly because we had to be at home pretty much all damn day and it was like 90 degrees here today (and we still don't have the window ACs installed yet, probably gonna do that tomorrow or Wednesday), so we wanted to get out of our hot house for a bit.
And for about $30 I got: - A glass of ginger ale - A huge plate of fried calamari - A cup of turkey and rice soup - A salad - A pretty big lasagna - A dish of butterscotch pudding
And lemme tell y'all, it was really damn good and I got a ton of food for my $30, so much that I literally brought home half the lasagna and a third of the calamari. But hey, who cares, means I'm getting a second meal out of it in a couple days. Only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the salad, not because it was bad or anything, but it was like 75% lettuce.
Honestly, it took me some time to decide what to even have because it all sounded so tasty (and there was some stuff on the menu that I knew I liked like lobster bisque, but I decided to have the calamari instead because I hadn't had calamari in a few years), but hey, maybe I'll go there again this summer, going to be up here till the end of October, after all.

What a great deal! Especially with some places being so expensive. Where you live has such an impact as well. Based on prices alone you can guess where someone is roughly. Which makes it all the more impressive if the place is somewhere in NYC or LA.

Here's a great recipe I'll recommend here: Cheezed Potatoes
So first, you get a giant popcorn sized bowl, and dump a bag of SMALL potatoes in there, then you get a paper towel (About 2 towel lengths, like seperatable length), then you make it soaked in cold water, you put it over the bowl. Toss it in the microwave and set to 15 minutes.
Around 5 minutes before completion is when i recommend you then get a stick of butter and a bag of shredded cheeze of your choosing and a spoon big enough to mix, dice up the stick of butter before the potatoes are done. After the potatoes are done, get oven mits and carefully remove the bowl onto your table, counter, whatever you use.
Make sure to remove the paper towel carefully, and keep your face away from the bowl as to not get your face burnt. Afterwards, you put your dices of stick butter into the bowl, and thoroughly mix it for say 3-4 minutes. After this, you then dump as much shredded cheese as you want into the bowl, and thoroughly mix for another 3-4 minutes.
Then toss it back into the microwave for 30 seconds, once done remove it again with the mittens on, and BOOM. You have one of the most delicious delicacy's ever concocted in mankind
