I know there's quite a few fans of the Power Rangers on the board, so I thought I'd create a poll for them. I first discovered the show when my cousin was visiting my house once, and he put it on. It took me a while to get into it, but I was soon loving it; the bright coloured suits; the awesome combining of the Zords to create Megazord....and of course, Bulk and Skull! Of course, when I joined school, it was the 'in' thing at the time, so that helped me gain status So which was your favorite ranger when you were younger. Mine was originally the Blue Ranger (another one of Gordon's influences on my life ). However, when the white ranger came along, he was awesome! I was going to make the poll 'which was the best series', but I felt it would be a rather one sided poll. When Mighty Morphin ended, I still watched Power Rangers Zeo regularly. I saw the Turbo movie, but then stopped watching after that. Maybe it was just too sudden a change from one series to another. However, I did watch the famous 'Countdown to Destruction' two parter when that was on! I think I've said enough. Post away, guys....and erm.... IT'S MORPHIN' TIME ;D

I used to love the 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' series when I was a kid. It tied with 'Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends' in first position as my favourite TV programmes. I still have some tapes of it lying about. Everything was awesome about it in those days. I am also a fan of the movie released in 1995, which proves how a great series actually can be made into a good film (unlike Britt Allcroft when she did the 'Magic Railroad' film). The suites, Zords and weapons were superb, I agree with you, OSW. Power Rangers Zeo was good, too, especially with the return of Jason as the Gold Ranger, but it was a pity to kill off the Mighty Morphins. Turbo was rather dull in places, especially with the sudden changes. For some years after this, I still tuned in with the odd return of some of our old friends. I will say that Dino Thunder, as Ryan once told me on the old forum, wasn't too bad, especially having Tommy back.
And pardon me for forgetting to mention it, but my favourite Ranger is the Green Ranger. He was a great character in the old series, especially him and his Dragonzord. Those were Tommy's best days on the series, especially the saga when he is on the brink of losing his powers. I remember it being advertised on the telly that the White Ranger was coming. Now, the latter was good, though he won't take the Green Ranger's place in my heart.

In my opinion Jason was the best power Ranger when he goes Tommy is the best. The pink ranger was always a hot female. Kat was my fave pink ranger. I also stopped watching it half way through Turbo when Tommy and the original crew leave. Lord Zedd gets my vote of the best villan.
I have a question about the film. Did it have anything to do with the series? As I remember the events from the film were ignored and they recycled the plot in the series. They used it to introduce Ninjor and Rito (Rita's brother) made his first appearence around then.

That's pretty much the case; it didn't have much to do with the series. Apparently, the movie was originally going to be done in the styles of the TV series, until the producers changed their minds. It also surprised me when I learnt not long ago that the movie was filmed in Sydney. I've almost certainly been to some of the filming locations. Mind you, I was five when I first saw the movie; didn't even know where Sydney was then! I watched it again, and it was pretty obvious now that it was filmed there.
And I agree; Lord Zedd is the best villain (although Ivan Ooze was pretty good too).

Anyone seen the Turbo movie? It's not that good. Jason and Kimberly are in it but they're turned into villans and Rita gets a cameo.

I saw the 'Turbo' film myself, OJ, and, whilst not on my list of favourite films, it wasn't quite as bad as 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad.'

I liked the white ranger when I was little, he seemed cool in the promos on GMTV. I'll admit I didn't really like the Geen Ranger, now this may sound wierd, but it was because he messed up the morphing call when he yelled "Dragonzord" before the other five teams would yell the names of their dinosaurs.
Now, does anyone know if Power Rangers Lost Galaxy ever aired on terrestrial television? I don't seem to remember it being there (that or I was going through an "I'm too old for Power Rangers, which lasted until the start of Lightspeed Rescue)?

Those GMTV polls were the ones I saw, crankyconner. How did Tommy mess up his voice when morphing? He sounded alright to me. Unless I'm forgetting something.

Well, as a youth (A youth. God I'm old) my favourite was the Blue Ranger. He was the technological whizkid with the high IQ, which is a fine role model for a young nerd like myself. Plus, he was blue. You can't go wrong with that colour. However, watching the series again on Jetix, I realise that Jason was the superior character. He was the stoic leader type, dedicated to the battle 'twixt good and evil. Sure, sometimes he was wooden as hell, but then again, everyone was. Plus, whenever Austin St. John comes back to talk about the show, he always seems so enthusiastic, like he really loves it. You have to respect that. But yeah, Green Ranger was pretty 'awesome'. After he came along, you might as well have called the show 'Mighty Morphin' Red and Green Rangers'. That was all anyone was interested in.

I read that Austin St.John left the first time round because he wanted more money (same goes for the actor who played Zack and the actress who plays Trini) so I reckon when they wanted him back for Gold ranger, they paid him more. I've also read that was also the reason the actor who played Billy left. Plus he didn't end on good terms with the production crew.

The Power Rangers was something that gave me an intrest, although it's faded into the background lately, what with:
Mighty Morhpin' Power Rangers Power Rangers Zeo Power Rangers Turbo Power Rangers in Space Power Rangers Lost Galaxy Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue Power Rangers Time Force Power Rangers Wild Force Power Rangers Ninja Storm Power Rangers Dino Thunder Power Rangers S.P.D Power Rangers Mystic Force
When I found out it was all based on Sentai, I grew a new fondness for it, now trying to compare each series..... for example, in the Ticklesneezer episode, a small Japenese child can be seen behind the Megazord!

I'll admit I was never a fan of Power Rangers when I was young. I could never see the attraction to it, and thought it to be too violent at the time. I watched a repeat on Jetix during the holidays, and found it to be quite amusing, but only for the cheesy effects on the fight scenes ;D
I do like the theme tune for the first series and Zeo though. That was the best thing about it.

My, my, about time I found a thread on these guys;)
I first watched Power Ranger when it first debuted, loved it ever since. I'm a particular fan of the monsters and Zords. I have all the SPD episodes, and a mass amount of episodes pn the computer. I'm a big fan too the 4 most recent: Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD, and Mystic force.
i chose the White Ranger becuase Tommy was a fav of mine, his character was good in the Super sentai (the japanese version of PR, meaning the exact same series, but with Japanese actors, which the American version uses fight scenes from) as well.

Stuart This is a bit hard to explain, given this is from my little kid perspective. This is how the call once was: Mastadon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Sabretoothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus! Then Tommy comes along, and the word Dragonzord is tagged before the other teen. It made the morphing call sequence sound a bit odd. Like I said, I found it a bit hard to explain. I read that on Wikipedia, but I thought they also said it was rumour. I also heard they (the three actors) refused to turn up for recording sessions (where they'd put the voices in for the morphed rangers). Also, I don't think it's been confirmed the actor who played Billy left because of pay trouble, but fans say his disgruntled looks during the bloopers in end credtis (which were rarely seen on ITV) confirm it. My absolute favourite series is season one of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, out of the new ones my favourite would have to be Wild Force, with all of those Wildzords.

I've read in the Japanese version the Green ranger dies. That's probobly why they decided to get rid of him in Might Morphin. The white ranger was a kid in the Japanese version. He's got to be much better than that blue ranger kid in Turbo. In my opinion he's the worst character in Power rangers. When I was younger I wasn't too keen on the villans from Zeo (Not Mondo. I mean that couple who try to get rid of him).
About the actor who plays Billy. I think the production crew wanted him to appear in Turbo but I reckon he must have left due to what's been speculated. Originally Billy had created the Turbo zords but in the end that had been scrapped.

It started great. But I just plain got sick of characters leaving, that was enough for me. It was still Mighty Morphin' at the time I think, but they had the Shogun Zords. After Kimberly left, I was just like "all they've left from the original 5 is Billy. Stuff this."
Of course, being a kid, I kept watching a bit... But proved myself right, not enjoying it after a few weeks.
Oh, and the Pink Ranger was always my favourite. I thought when I first saw her "She's purrrrrrdy"... That lasted until The Secret World of Alex Mack came out here in 1996...

Green Ranger gets my vote. His Zord was sooo awesome! I wasn't too fond of the Gold Ranger, even if he was still Tommy. If there's anything I still enjoy about Power Rangers, it's the movie and first 2 series. I can watch new episodes, but they can be a little corny and don't hold up as well as the originals IMO. 100th post! Ha ha! ;D
