I couldn't find a thread about one of GB's most popular plastic model kit producers, so I made this one. Some news for fans of the 1:600 scale ocean liner kits: www.airfix.com/shop/ships/passenger-ships/a04207-rms-mauretania-1600/www.airfix.com/shop/ships/passenger-ships/a06201-rms-queen-elizabeth-i-1600/Even though I am already in possession of the early 2000's re-runs of the Queen Elizabeth and the SS Canberra (both on my Top 3 Favorite Ships list ) I shall most likely be purchasing the Queen Elizabeth. At the moment these are the only ones that seem to be getting re-runs, but there is always a possibility for next year. - ATL EDIT: btw, this thread is for anyone to discuss Airfix, the kits they make, made or future releases.

I once found an old Airfix Brake Van. It was a standard BR 20 ton one, and was actually quite brittle. It came with a model of the Rocket, because it was second hand at the end of the day. The coupling was different too. Now I'd probably only use it as set dressing in a shunting yard, for I have actual rail-worthy brakevans now, some two in stock. The problem is, I don't have enough goods wagons for them to go with! XD

I am trying to find some 1/48 scale kits whether Airfix or any other manufacturer of the DH Tiger Moth but I can find nothing. Was almost certain that they once did a kit of one. I have had to resort to getting a 1/72 kit instead but that doesn't totally help me when I wanted one parked close to the railway line and I model in 0 gauge (1:43.5 but the difference between the two is barely noticeable)

After a quick internet search it turns out Smer makes a 1:48 Tiger Moth. I've not heard of the brand before but I assume for the company to have lasted this long they are doing alright. www.smer.cz/toys-and-models/dh-82-tiger-mothThere are quite a few on eBay as well. While I'm making a post here, yesterday I visited a new store and unexpectedly found several model kits of ships and cars which were all very tempting. I decided to buy a Tamiya R32 GT-R because I like the look of that particular Skyline and it was relatively cheap. This will be my first Tamiya kit and my first car kit as well so it is a little bit exciting. I haven't touched a model kit in years so it may get my interest going again.

I had looked and seen the Smer when talking to a friend today as chance would have it. I might just peruse eBay and have a look. I haven't done any of the car kits before. I don't really have space to keep them either, well not unless they are for the model layout. I bought two tractors off eBay recently and they came from America. Great service and could not fault the time for deliver, cost or the packaging. Would use them again.
