I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better. I got over some cold or flu thing a few weeks ago and it was really unpleasant.

Well the good news is I recovered about a day ago, now I just have a lingering sniffling nose. Other good news which I never mentioned was that on Friday I passed my learners permit test . Wahey, I was supposed to take it on Tuesday but the computers had to be down ): when are they not?

Just a random rant, but is anyone having trouble with the New Google Maps layout? For the last couple of days I've just generally been finding directions to various places around London from where I live, and all I'm getting is the proclaimed "New" and to quote a certain Diesel "Revolutionary" Google Maps where when I want to return to the Classic layout of Google Maps - I'm seemingly left with the "New" crap version in my face. I've found the Old layout really helpful and useful, whilst the only "New" isn't at all helpful and is useless (unless I just have to weather the storm and get used to it as with everything else that changes).
I don't know if Google are just generally testing the waters for a week to see how it plays, or just being typical Google where only its only all about the "New" and have tossed the Old out completely. Before you could return to the Classic layout with success after giving your review about the New, but either there's a fault with Google or they just want to shove the "New" style in our faces. It was alright when I used the classic style last Sunday when I went to Turnpike Lane for a shoot, but now Google has just taken another downfall in the history of downfalls (like a majority's point of view about Google Plus).

Just want to say how much I love this forum. I feel very much at home here with nice friendly people and interesting topics that add more depth to my favourite childhood show. So in short thank you all.

Had the opportunity yesterday to find out what it is like to be a guest on another forum. It was getting difficult to view threads and submit to the Shoutbox - kept receiving the Error #300 message - so I entered into support.proboards.com as suggested, and informed the fellows there that SiF was hit. I would say that these troubles lasted for about 15-20 minutes. Was amused to find that there were two threads there that were made to address the same problem, but other than that I thought it a pleasant place, and I may consider joining. Anyway, I am proud to have been given the chance to be the voice of SiF and was glad to have curiosity satisfied. I have always wondered how an individual becomes a guest, since I have seen several on the forum but cannot recall having the option to become a guest when I first signed up for membership here, in 2008.

A little shameless self-promotion: I updated a new post on my blog yesterday, and I would love it if some of you guys could take a look at. If you guys have any comments you'd like to leave on the post, please do. I don't know if you need a Wordpress account to comment, but any notes are appreciated. It's about an experiment I took to solve a problem that's been bothering mankind forever... what is the best way to eat a Pop Tart. Hot? Cold? Room temperature? The results may surprise, shock, even terrify the faint of heart! frequentrarity.wordpress.com/2015/07/11/pop-tart-truth-hot-cold-in-between/

Lord General Bauwmeister [SGA]I'd also like to point out that access to the ERS is a privilege for members of SiF only. They're not intended to be publicly available, it is a benefit of being a respectable member of the site, and notably, it is a privilege that could well be rescinded if the team sees anything that they consider to be an abuse of that privilege.[ (Taken from: Announcing... My Thomas/Tugs-related Character Archives! Thread) I find the above statement to be quite troubling frankly, and a rather startling reminder of past belligerence within the TTTE community as a whole. WoodenrailwayReviews in his "2013 Flying Scotsman" review stated he found the TTTE community was creating their own caste system. Basically, theirs a divide between all of us in everything. And the mistrust from the above was quite a shock considering that Robert adressed these issues years ago and were resolved. Quite bluntly this is quite an issue as to the ERS information held exclusively to this forum. Why display ERS facts etc. online when the average viewer (let alone some Thomas fan just trying to read some fanfics without complicating matters) has to be troubled just to find the stories to clarify what their reading by going through quite frankly a troubling account making process just for a few stories). When I first heard of the ERS, I became very much confused as to its orgins, few stories were on YT, and the ERS section of SIF's website didn't help (till I found them here). So people who are/were fans of the likes of Brad, Sodor Castle and Wendell (from Tardisrescues 'Gravy Train') now can't dig in any deeper into them if they wanted (bearing in mind not everyones on this forum) to just because of a small divide? I'm not pointing fingers here, I'd just like to state some concerns as to this statement, which embodies to me the divide that this community metaphorically often has to its members on YT and other forums, which usually doesn't go down well at all. If possible, I would certainly appreciate some clarification on this.

PercyFan1998; Authors are entitled to share their own works at will. If an author wishes to share it outside SIF, that would be fine, but for others to publicly broadcast someone else's material away from the site, without first approaching the author, would be deemed inappropriate. As far as I am concerned, the author should be entitled to control of their work, including who gets to view it. I believe it is generally accepted by all that submit and contribute to the ERS that they are displayed on SiF with relative exclusivity. Currently, it is agiven that this is limited to members of the Sodor Island Forums, and it is not permitted for the material to be shared elsewhere without due authorisation or consent of the creators of the work. In fact, I believe the regulations of this site don't really permit for even posts from members, stories or not, to be displayed outside the forums if no one has agreed to it. In this specific instance, and it was a exceptional one, there was, perhaps, notable concern that access to the ERS may end up being abused in a way that many of the creators of the work would not be happy about and did not consent to, and therefore this option was available as a consideration. Doing so should not be considered an attempt to create a divide or a 'caste system' within the community as this would not be the intention; revoking of a specific individual's abilities to view the ERS would only really be done as an attempt to protect other peoples' work in an instance of particular concern and if an outright ban is considered too severe or not appropriate. It may only be done in exceptional circumstances, there is no general threat to members who obey standard conduct of having their ability to view the ERS revoked. Another point may be that, being the forums that is host to it, the exclusivity of the ERS is indeed something that continues to draw many people to SiF, and it is in our interests to maintain a healthy membership and keep people interesting and attracted to signing up to SiF. Hopefully this has provided a satisfying response to your concern.

Nicholas, Atleast the concern of piracy is a legit reason to keep them here. Thanks for the clarification, after all, if you wrote it, you have every right to it

Apologies for the double post, but I figured I might as well say it.
I've got bad news, earlier this morning (West coast US time), my grandmother on my fathers side passed away. It wasn't unexpected, but... She's at rest, it's for the best.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Percyfan. Indeed, she is at rest now. It's the best way to look at it. On a slightly brighter note, I just wanted to wish any fellow Jewish forum members Shana Tovah!
