Ahoy!
On the late Sodor Island I believe that there was a group called the "Sodor Times". I don't know very much about this group except that I think it made a monthly Thomas newsletter.
If anyone can tell me more about the old "Sodor Times" I'd be very thankful.
But my most important question is this; does anyone want to make a monthly Thomas "newspaper" about the latest happenings in the world of Thomas? It seems like a good idea to me, but no one can produce a newspaper on thier own.
Any ideas, help, support, complaints, info?

I remember this, I helped out with it. I think. All I remember is that I helped out when someone on TVTome told me about it. Or Maybe that was something else. Anyhow, I remember something.

I do believe The Sodor Times was the brainchild of ATKTrains - he called for volunteers to write a handful of articles based on Thomas stories - a few puzzles, too. It didn't last long, due to work schedules and such - but I wouldn't mind seeing this make a comeback.

If you need anyone to make stupid/funny puns and/or headlines, I'll gladly give it a go.

Yeah, I helped out with the project... now that I've updated my computer, I'll be able to help out more should it get restarted.

Well, I kind of discontinued it because of lack of participation...basically no one contributed anything...if we would like to start it again w/ some more help, we could...although most of the old issues are deleted off my computer. It was actually bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) but maybe a monthly one could work...more time to prepare...so if we would like to get this started again, I'd need some help. ATK

One idea I always thought would be rather cool...why not run an interview with a SIF member? I'm sure there are plenty of people with interesting experiences to share about their work in the Thomas community...Christopher comes to mind, with his S8 redubs - or perhaps Granpuff and his RLT research.

Something I've seen done elsewhere is a set of quickfire questions, where all participating members are asked a series of questions about themselves. Kinda like our welcome thread.
I.e
Favourite Aspect of Thomas?
Reason you joined SIF
Your Opinions of "such and such"
You know, that sort of thing......

I'd be happy to help revive the Sodor Times, ATK. The thought of bringing it back came to me when I made that joke news article about the Marklin engine debate.

Well, this is working well... We can get some people's opinions going and such, and some interviews. DVD reviews are welcome. I'll see if I can get busy on working with it...feel free to send in your opinions and such to me. Just send it to Bigslabdad@aol.com with the subject title: SODOR TIMES (nothing else, please. ). Also, if you recall I had a mailing list for this sort of stuff...I think I'm going to use Megaupload now, that way everyone can download instead of only a select few. If you wish to send stuff, go for it! ATK

No, not MegaUpload, anything but that load of rubbish... I'll perhaps do a couple of articles from time to time, if I am able to.

If you need me for anything, ATK, I'll be more than happy to resume my old position as reporter. I've updated my computer since the old days of the Sodor Times, so I'll be able to get pictures this time round

Well, what we have lined up for issue 1...
Marklin Model: Fact or Fiction? DVD Reviews (reviews of CAE or recent DVD's or s9 eps) An interview w/ an SiF member (like Kate suggested) Thomas News Episode reports/ Articles (Stepneydude, Skarloey CPK, anyone else who has anything!) - of course, we might need pictures. And any other 'opinions'/essays you have to send! If I start getting some things, I'll start putting it together! ;D

I'll probably be able to help after the 19th. I have exams coming then, and I need the prep time for them.

I could add 'thehalford's Episode of the Issue!'. I've a bunch of ep reviews I've made for Clearwater gathering virtual dust on my computer, so what better use for them? ;D
