I'm starting off this thread.
I'm working on a novel right now, it's "Trapped Out on the Ocean". The storyline, is nearly done but I need to make it a little longer.
But, please tell me, have any of you ever gotten one of your own written books published?

I haven't as of yet. I have one thats ready for submission, and once my exams are finished, I'm going to apply to some more people.
I think Lulu.com is a good place for young or inexperienced authors to get published. I may well apply to them at some point.

Another project or projects I am hoping to get published soon are two manga series.
The first is "Spirit Riders"
The second one is "Past, Present & Future" I would show pictures of the characters for this manga but, I don't want anybody taking my characters and using them in other projects.
I'm hoping to get them out before September of this year.

Of course, they can count. In this thread, we can talk about any of our works we ever got published.

Ah, works of literature. Now that's an interesting topic to bring up. As it happens, I also have a novel on the go. I'd dearly like to share the details but I'm trying to keep the main details a surprise for all until publication. The only people who do know are my immediate family. There are some details I can reveal, though: The Title:Of Tunnels & Trains The Setting:1930s Britain - Mostly Cornwall The Key Focus:A young man of about my own age - including the Aspergers - seeking employment on the Great Western Railway. Once I've got it a little more complete, I'll reveal a little more about it but most of the details I'm keeping a surprise until I've found a willing agent and publisher. Anyone else? Warm Regards As Always, MRHloco

I might actually consider this one I've completed writing, because I do enjoy writing.
Although I'm not really writing about trains just various ideas I have, but I have to ask which I will.
When writing, does anyone generally put in words like: 'said so and so, cried so and so, etc,' because sometimes I don't do that. Plus, does anyone know any good publishers should I want to do this? Plus I can tell my Mum because I know she wants to write a novel wonder day.

Well, I've had a short story published in a book.
It was a writing competition for students (this was last year), and a certain amount of entrants had their stories/poems published in a huge hard cover omnibus. I received a letter saying that my entry was good enough to be published in the book- I was so happy. ;D
The short story was about time-travel, and called 'Time Out'. I may post it here, but the short story was just an immensely cut-down version of a longer story I am yet to finish.

I have started writing many different novels but never finished anything. I usual lose interest in anything I write or eventually grow to hate it as 'not good enough'. Hopefully some day I'll publish something.

Wow! Those sound like some great creations! I would like to provide you all, at long last with information on the Manga Series, I am creating, "Past, Present & Future" which of course I'll try to get published soon. Info: With a dark future coming, just three years past 2160, Dan Smiths, Rose Castlefield, Maddy and Naddy Cottontail, Samatha Brooker, Blue (Alison Jacobs), and Stephine Crusher must travel through time to save their homes. Volume One: A very powerful time machine has been destoryed and the pieces have been sent throughout time and space. The time wizard calls on Dan and his girlfriends to save the universe and their time period from the forces of the Dark hand before it's too late. However, our heroes will find that travelling threw time like that may cause alot of trouble that could spell their doom. Secrets revealed like never before. As for "Trapped Out on the Ocean", two chapters have been edited and now it's the rest of the darn book I need to work on. Hopfully it'll be published before Christmas...fingers crossed!

Well, stuff I've had published... aside from online stuff (including that stuff I wrote on Wikipedia that the Daily Mail ripped off mutter mutter), I've written a few articles for my local paper (nothing exciting I'm afraid). I had some comic strips published in my uni magazine and on the back of that I had a commission to design a calendar for a charity dealing with children with special needs. It's a lot harder to cartoon on commission.
At the moment, I'm working on a sort of children's book, which is proving blasted hard work I can tell you, and a non-fiction book that might best be described as an alternative history of London.

Well, aside from my fanfiction stuff I've posted on ff.net (Under the penname RandyRingtail), the only pieces of writing of mine that ever got published were in my college newspaper until I left in my Senior year. The reason I left was that I didn't find journalism writing my fancy, although I still like writing in general for anyone who enjoys it.
Maybe I'll get around to writing a novel one of these days...who knows? It might become the next Harry Potter.

I've not ever gotten anything published in my life, but I am planning on publishing a train Story book. Here are the specs: Title: "The Adventures of the YNER Volume One: Engines of the YNER"Setting: The Yishvonn & North Eastern Railline in Unflew, Cadama, in the Year 2047.About: Introduces first five characters, Alex, Caleb, Siobhan, Maddy, and James. Tells of their adventures on the railline. It's like the Railway Series in that it has talking trains, the locomotives have buffers and use British railway terms, and each volume has four stories. I'll need help revising it to act more like a real railway (railline in this case). If you would like to read it, please send me your email in a PM and go HERE: theadventuresoftheyner.blogspot.com. Thanks. -Tines

Wow, this thread has become a ghost town hasn't it?
I guess I'll have to start it up again.
"Trapped Out on the Ocean" is going threw my editors to make sure there are no mistakes.
As for the manga series "Past, Present & Future", the plotlines are being drawn up and I'll be sending it to Tokyopop for publishing.
But enough about me, what about you guys, have you guys brought out any new works.

I had a joke printed in "Star Wars Kids" when I was 9...that's about it, aside from some school newspaper articles from my Junior year (a preview of Smash Bros and a rant on special effects in movies).
I have a scifi story I'm tossing around now. I might do it as an online strip or an underground comic. Actually, I met an upperclassman from my college who did a strip in our school's paper. I might try that, too.

If manga can count then:
I've sent out to 10 Japan Manga magazines my work "Metalwar". 493 pages of story and information and 203 pages of designs. Basically, my life. Gotten some word back on it so I'm hoping it does well. People have shown interest....
I do all the story and art myself.

Well I remember back in 2007 I sent a book that I made about the Flying Scotsman for children with some illustrations that I made for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) publishings. I told them that I was fan of TTTE and book inspired me and they came back and said that they love it but if you want a successful book you need to have an original idea. I respect their comments and I still try to get an original idea still. But since that I am not interesting in Children's writing, I'm trying to write some novels that kids and adults like, but with pictures in them. I might make a novel about a retired railway worker and his love affair of railways and steam locomotives, after being at many heritage railways and see the experiences of them, but the inspiration for me is to find stories about them. I'm a keen drawer and have the inspiration of artists like the Railway Series artists, David Palmer and Tommy Stubbs and also Rev. W. Awdry's own drawings too, all that I have to do is wait for the right time and some inspiration and the right money for the publishing rights etc. TMRReturns

Back in November 2021 I published my first book. It's titled "Into the Faerie Lands" by J. R. Bennett. Took forever to get done but I'm so glad it's out there.
