Scott Joplin (1867 - 1917) was a composer of piano rags. One of his most famous hits is 'The Entertainer', a classic from 1902. And now, over 100 years later, everybody is still able to recognise 'The Entertainer' along with his various other tunes including 'Maple Leaf Rag' (1899) and 'Ragtime Dance' (1906).

I can play the Entertainer on the piano. I'm almost done it. I've tried to learn Maple Leaf Rga, but it's WAY too hard.

I'm so annoyed because I recently heard a great big band version of the Pineapple Rag and can't for the life of me find the album it's from (it's not the one from The Sting, either, go figure.)

I don't know my exact memory on Joplin's music as I may've heard it through ice cream trucks, but even then I'm not sure if it was his stuff or not. But my first exact memory knowing about him was thanks to Homestar Runner as they used "The Entertainer" for "Kick the Can" in late 2008.
